Nothing coming in 2010?

Agreed. To me, most of EE themeing takes place in the queue. Most of the ride is very poorly themed. The whole going backwards portion, and as you stated after the drop, the illusion is lost. I don't think they need amazing themeing while you're moving backwards since its in the dark (or should be) anyway, but something to prevent light leaks would help.

And I have never heard other guests complain about the yeti, but that could obviously just be a timing thing. I know I have complained about it though.

When they fix the Yeti - the need to address the light leakage on the backwards portion. All they need to do is take some black tarp to conceal the interior supports, it's a shame they had to use these tarps over at SSE.

I think it is funny that the inside of the Matterhorn is themed better than EE also its Yeti works :animwink:

Matterhorn doesn't move anywhere near as fast as EE. Neither does their Yeti. In their current state, I would definitely take Everest over the Matterhorn.

I never said it did  and there Yeti is hardly comparable but at least it works.

Also, the inside of the Matterhorn was completely unthemed bare wooden supports and without an Abominable Snowman for 20 years. And that their snowman moves at all is news to me.

Thanks!

I still stand by my statement that the Matterhorn Yeti works better that the one from EE :animwink:

Yes, something that works compared to something that doesn't work. That's not even debatable.

I would argue that a small figure with minimal movement on an inferior ride isn't as impressive as a larger figure with no movement on a better ride.

I diagree and vie it as something that works and serves its purpose unlike EE which seems to be an over stretch by WDI. They tried to make something great that now doesn't work and is crap.

Honestly, I think I like the Matterhorn better than Everest.

Imagine that backwards portion on Everest with Matterhorn-style caverns, and new effects like falling icicles and collapsing snow packs. Like the Yeti was bringing the mountain down around your ears or something. That would be harrowing, incredibly fun moment!

Exactly I agree and I also like the Matterhorn better. Think about how great EE could be with a working Yeti and the type of effects you mentioned!

It's a personal opinion, but I really am not a fan of the low slung rockets/bobsleds. You feel every weld on the track and to me that's not what I want in a roller coaster. It's why I'm not as high on Space Mountain in Disney World as some other people.

Having said that, I can't excuse the broken effects in Expedition Everest. When the effects haven't been working more than they have been working, it's to the point where we have to assume that the ride has no animatronics. It's like the moving knight in Haunted Mansion - for the longest time, it was assumed it was just a stationary figure. That's what we have in the Yeti now, and that hurts the ride.

Back on topic...

So are we taking wagers yet on whether or no Captain EO is coming to Epcot this year? Anyone???

I think its for sure not coming. A lot of people here seem to think disney will offend people by bringing it back or whatever. And I personally think thats bull. If DL can get it, why cant we? Hopefully I'm wrong though.

I want no EO.

Future World doesn't need to be Retro World- well, even more retro than it already is... put the time and effort into doing something new TDO.
