Nothing coming in 2010?

What out of my posts were meant to be condescending? Quote it because I know you must be misinterpreting what I'm saying.

And in Krank's case I was just stating what he should do if he doesn't like a thread. No condescending attitude- no trying to control him- just saying he doesn't need to post here if it's crap.

It's just your tone. General attitude. Whatever. I'm not bothered, and I'm not going to make that big of a deal out of it.

Back to nothing going on in 2010.

Telling me what I need to do isn't trying to control me? Yeah...

I woudn't call EE a classic!

It could be if they shut it down and got everything working again AND did routine maintenance to insure it stayed that way over the course of 10 years or more. (Not saying a "classic" has to be around for 10 years. It would just be nice to have EE running correctly for that long.) But with all that in mind it's about as likely to happen as the Carnataurus actually biting into you at the end of CTX.

They really should just close it down for 2010 until it's fixed. Get it back in A mode for the 40th. 2010 should be the refurb year of the Yeti!

I kind of agree that "classic" requires either advanced age (25 years for cars?) or manages to "feel" like a ride/attraction that is this advanced age. Classic in Disney park terms would mean "original" to my ears, and original rides are things more like the Mark Twain and Disneyland RR than roller-coasters.

I agree but it will never happen.

I agree with you there. Having read these boards numerous for a while I see very different views on what "classic" entails. And everyone is definitely entitled to their own opinion on the matter. I personally, have a level of quality, show, and Disney-feel that must be met before I consider something a classic. I won't list anything here that doesn't meet that for fear of starting a post war, but I just think it comes down to personal feelings and sometimes age. A younger kid may think RnRC is a "classic" Disney attraction just because it was there on their first trip and they enjoyed it a lot. Whereas some of us who are aged a little more remember Horizons as a "classic" but wouldn't be considered that way to some people who would have found it boring. All a matter of opinion, but that's what this site is based on. :)

That's very short sighted. Six Flags Magic Mountain is a horribly run park. That being said, they crank out high quality roller coasters every year. The thing is, those roller coasters cost like $15 million each - more often than not they are buying off the shelf coasters that while thrilling are typically light on theming.

Six Flags rarely buys "off-the-shelf" rollercoasters, at least initially. Most of their major rollercoasters are custom-designed and then replicated at their other parks. And RNR at DHS is an off-the-shelf coaster. As are those stupid Wild Mouse rides at DAK. Unlike Disney, Six Flags knows their customers are in it for the thrills, so there is no need to spend money on themeing (though it would be nice). Look at Disney: EE cost what, $100-200 million...MOST of which was on themeing. The ride system itself was probably no more than $20 million. And Six Flags has more than just Magic Mountain. I like how when people try to make a point they pick the most extreme example.

I've been to Magic Mountain and Six Flags New England - the thrills are great - the operations are not.

I'm not telling you what you need to do. Don't put words in my mouth. Telling you what you should do is completely different. Stop trying to stir the pot and make something of nothing.

Well, not yet. I brought EE and Dino and all the other DAK things up because SirGoofy asked what was built within the last 15 years that is quality on WDW property.

I do think it will be a classic though.

Meh unless the Yeti is in a mode it is mediocre.

Perhaps a hospital would be a better location for that activity.

Did Pumbas just get banned, or am I just noticing a joke tag?

I actually wrote Six Flags a letter (whereby I offered up my services as a pro bono consultant) to help fix their operations based solely on my observations on my trip.

I consistently saw staffing for rides misused, and it resulted in longer waits for guests.

Well- to the average person just seeing the yeti with strobe is fine.

And the Yeti AA doesn't completely make or break the ride imo. That's a bit overboard.

I disagree the coaster doesn't hold its own without the Yeti imo. I would put SM and BTMR ahead of EE.

Did they respond?

The Yeti doesn't make the ride - but it improves the ride significantly.

Yes, the head of Park Ops at Six Flags Magic Mountain responded. I have the whole back and forth on my personal blog. My initial e-mail was harsh, but at the end I offered assistance, it wasn't until a bit of back and forth (and some pandering on my part) that I offered to work for free.

The correspondence (most recent first) can be found here.
