Not good but saw it coming

This is terrible. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. That is not a good way to end any vacation :(

I think the fate of M:S could go either way at this point. I would be extremely saddened to see it "go" in any form - just a slight change in intensity or a complete destruction. I really enjoy that ride.

There is no proof that anyone has ever died from Mission: Space. The 4-year old boy had a pre-existing condition. His pre-existing condition was to blame for his death, not the ride. As for this incident it is still way to early to say what if anything the ride had to do with it.

This may very well be the truth, however, I don't think the public is going to see it that way. I also don't think that Disney PR is stupid enough to keep a ride going that people are afraid of. Any way you look at it, it is not a good idea for Disney to keep this ride open in its current form. I will be VERY suprised if no changes are made to it.

My condolences to the family. No one should have to go through this...for any reason.

Condolences to the family.... Another tragic loss while in the happiest place on earth....

With that being said, I know we are fast to blame th attraction... We do not know if there was a pre-existing health problem... However, since I was on this ride, I can say that this ride COULD be blamed for their deaths... Just because that 4 year old boy had an enlarged heart didn't mean he would have died on UoE or JIYI... The ride COULD HAVE had an impact on him... Of course we cannot say anything about this woman, but, the ride could have helped trigger the problem, providing she had one....

We need to stop thinking Disney's attractions could not cause death... If she had a problem no doctor ever ditected, this ride COULD HAVE, and I stress COULD HAVE cause we really don't know, propelled the problem to cause her death.....

I for one now hope M:S gets canned and a better, less boring and more enjoyable ride takes its place....

Doubt they'd demolish a $100 Million attractions that is 5 years old, and I still haven't ridden it yet!!!!!:fork: :fork:

How many people have died on the Matterhorn? People keep riding. Deaths on rides don't keep people from riding, especially if it turns out to be the woman's fault. They would never demolish the ride. They MIGHT tone it down, but would more likely just add a couple more warnings.

If this turns into a PR nightmare, something will be done. Might not be a demolition, but something will happen.

I doubt it will be open tomorrow unless there's some major announcement from the hospital saying Disney wasn't at fault in any reguard.

If it's not open tomorrow - then how long? Easter is Sunday, and Epcot will be screwed without M:S over Easter.

Suppose they'll scramble and try to reopen Wonders by Sunday?

True, many people have died on the Matterhorn. Not the ride's fault of corse. People dieing on M:S is no different from people Dyeing on something like Space Mountain. It happens all the time. Even at Six Flags. So its really no excuse to tame down M:S. Despite all of the deaths on the Matterhorn, they never did tone it down. They made it more intense.

If the average guest doesn't even know if it's open or not (Like last December), it won't matter because you'll have to stumble upon it to find it open, assuming you aren't familiar with the park.

another one?!?! My god...

My sympathies to the family, etc... but I am curious how healthy this person was prior to riding.

But if they have to keep M:S closed, i'd image they could put an insert in the guide maps saying "M:S closed, try Wonders next door."

In all due respect. THE WOMAN'S FAULT???? Dude, how can it be THE WOMAN'S FAULT??? If she had a pre-existing health problem and she KNEW it, then OK.. But, how many people DON'T know??? WHat is she thought she was in perfect health?? What if her doctor saw no health problems??? Should the doctor be blamed?? I think not.... If she had somethign and did not know, the ride, and I will stress this again, COULD HAVE helped cause her death by causing somehting to go haywire.. Saying it could be HER FAULT is insensitve to say the least....

Where did I say HORIZONS??? M:S, IN MY OPINION, does not have that appeal to ride every time... I went on once, will not again cause, in my opinion, it stinks.... And from what I am hearing about wait times, even when Epcot is busy, others think the ride stinks too...

I know we all love Disney on this board, but just because they spent 100 million on a ride does not mean it is an excellent attraction cause M:S isn't by any means...
