ugh. maelstrom sucked. get over it. it was incoherent rubbish. now should it have been replaced by frozen, that I don't know? as for putting an IP into World Showcase, I don't care. Let Disney do what they want. If it fails, it fails. What I see it doing is creating a BIG draw so that other attractions in Epcot (looking at you Soarin') and perhaps other parks can get some relief and shorter wait times.

Going to 3 screens for Soarin' opens, that'll reduce some of the wait, but I never, ever, saw a warranted reason to wait 95 minutes for it. No spank you, Greenwald.
Maelstrom was a mediocre attraction at best, but it was thematically appropriate and it's capacity was appropriate for what it was. Frozen Ever After is thematically inappropriate and it will have significantly higher demand than Maelstrom. This decision was short sighted on so many different fronts. World Showcase deserved more and Frozen deserved more.

Only time will tell whether this is a hit or a miss. For Frozen fans they will see it as a hit. For the rest of us only time will tell if we "Let It Go" and enjoy that there is some kind of ride there.

It's straight up San Francisco in an alternate universe where Japanese immigrants spearheaded the reconstruction of the city after the 1906 earthquake, with the infusion of their design sensibilities leading to a mashup name being applied. And apparently the movie itself is set sometime in the 2030s judging from a "95th Anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge" poster on the back of a trolley car.
Alternate universes don't belong in World Showcase, unless invented by the country represented and they date back more than one-hundred years. What I'm saying is mythology.

Maelstrom was, to me, like a low-budget indie film. They didn't have a lot of space or money to work with, but did the best they could with what they were given.

We talk about Everest or The Mummy at Universal being cool because you stop and go backwards...but Maelstrom did it first! Plus you got the basics of the adventure, vikings, trolls, waterfalls, Valhalla, polar creatures and then modern oil rigs and a nice village port at the end.

If you compare it to Fantasyland Dark rides of that era, it really is about on par with them IMO.

Don't forget the new Castle Show they could do to celebrate...
Mickey & Friends Bench-tacular! It would feature some rarely seen characters like Maid Marion... {{SPOILER ALERT}} Show begins with with an explosion of fireworks and confetti and the entrance of The Fab Five, 6 dancers and Maid Marion...who is dragging behind. Mickey asks Maid Marion why she is so sad.....She explains she had been following Robin Hood through the forest all night and now there is no place to sit....So Mickey , Minnie and Donald call upon Cinderella and the other Princesses ( Who arrive with much fanfare) to ask what they should do...Cinderella knows just what to do...ask the fairy godmother for a new bench... The Godmother concedes with help of the audience and Bibbidi Benchidy Boo! a new Bench arrives Confetti Canons explode, Daytime Fireworks go off and everyone sings "A Bench is a wish your heart makes"...
You're hired.. we will make you lead imagineer!

your next job will be to gut Pirates of the Caribbean so you can find a way to shove Dr. Strange during an assault in some random island's town with some ghost pirate ship firing around.

GOOD LUCK.. WE RE ALL COUNTING ON YOU.

The drop into the oil rig thing was kinda weird, no? It seemed like it was missing something. Then again, it probably was.

Any word on the boats? Are they still getting stuck in the turns? Are they still taking on water?

And lastly, did they ever find painters?

They found the painters. It seems that they had stationed themselves at the curve and held the boats back while negotiating a new contract. Oh, yea... they also stationed a few at the bottom of the drop with buckets of water that they dumped into the boats on the way down. All fixed now though!

This was posted by Disney this evening. Not very specific.

Message:
With Anna and Elsa moving to Royal Sommerhus at Epcot in June, Princess Fairytale Hall will continue offering advance FastPass+ selections to meet the princesses through early June. More dates will be available for that timeframe. We look forward to sharing an opening date soon for Royal Sommerhus.

As a reminder, Royal Sommerhus at Epcot will be the new place where Guests can meet Anna and Elsa in person; however, they will continue to visit Magic Kingdom daily to appear in Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade and the upcoming Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire show at Cinderella Castle.

Now if they could scrap Princess Fairytale Hall for a new dark ride.
