No outside food and drink in WDW parks?

Why shouldn't they look out for themselves? Everyone does and so does Disney and every other business on the planet if you don't you go out of business and then you cant feed your kids. I really don't understand why you would say something so snarky to someone who is sharing their opinion on this and their personal perspective. Is it because you don't agree with them? If not then give please give us your opinion on it and not just a rude comment.
So, TWDC should look out for themselves, but those who feel the quality of the food being offered inside the parks has declined (while prices of both the meals and admission have both risen) shouldn't? Sorry if I don't agree with such blind fealty to a company....

And in case you hadn't noticed, snark often begets snark....

SeaWorld and Busch Gardens doesn't allow outside food and drinks
Technically, Busch Gardens Tampa allows water: Water bottles may be taken into the park. (Link) And I can tell you from many visits "water bottle" really means "any bottle of soda, water or tea" because my husband always brings a Mountain Dew or a Pepsi in and I usually bring whatever bottled water or tea I'm drinking. It's such a non-issue that I didn't even realize until I went to find the official policy that they don't allow it. So policy and practice are definitely two different things.

That said, the reason I don't like the "no outside food" policy idea for WDW is the lack of proximity. Busch Gardens is right in the middle of the city. So it's no big deal to leave and have a meal. Leaving MK, just to get to your car for example, is a minimum 30 minute one-way trip! I can walk back to my car at BG. Disney is much more isolated and it creates a forced monopoly in food. You literally don't have any other options. From that point of view, I just don't think it's fair to ban someone from bringing snacks or drinks of their choosing.

I agree with the general idea that this probably would not result in preventing people from bringing in water bottles or even small snacks. They would focus on the people bringing in food from outside restaurants or basically entire meals. I don't necessarily have a problem with it.

That said, I think it would work better if there were at least lockers and a picnic area outside of the checkpoint where people could put food and eat outside the parks. Not everyone drives to the parks. That would mostly eliminate any justifiable complaint about the policy due to the isolation of the parks.

So, what's wrong with the water fountains at Walt Disney World?

Again, they may be doing this for the wrong reasons, but its actually the right move.

If you have actually seen what people do at the bubblers at WDW you would also swear off using them forever. Kids putting their mouth over the bubbler is the most sanitary of things I've seen there.

Ehh I am on the fence about this. On one hand I do not think people should bring in full course meals to the park. On the other hand, when I was younger we would bring in energy bars and such for the day in case anyone felt bad at a sudden moment. My eldest brother was known for getting sick in the middle of the day on a whim, sometimes evens shortly after eating a meal. Bottled water and energy bars is what kept him going.

If you don't like it, don't go is what they're saying. Making demeaning and sarcastic comments on an internet fan board isn't going to change Disney's decision. If you have contempt for Disney's practices, don't go, and lay off on the heavy breathing and typing loudly. It'll be much better for all of us.

I really doubt this kind of thing won't be allowed. They're likely trying to stop full meals for families being packed in... Not a bite or a small snack. I don't think they're going to TSA levels here.

I will side with the "ban the coolers if you like" but small snacks and drinks are fine. I know it may seem dumb to some people but we save a ton of money on bringing our own water and soda to the parks. The fountains are horrid and to pay $11 for us to get bottled water is insane. We bring 2 cases of water at $2.29 each and bring them with. I also can't get a dang bottle of cherry coke so I have to bring my own! If this happens its a pure and simple money grab, nothing more, nothing less.

And saying that if people don't like it they shouldn't go, less people in line in front of me brings about the warm and fuzzy inside of you? Guess loyalty to the mouse will do that to some. Fortunately I've heard that having a few less peasants in front of one in line cures those ills....

This differs little from any other entertainment space one would enter, from a sports stadium or concert hall.

As for a "forced monopoly, " well... We choose to enter the gates of this forced monopoly.
And, this forced monopoly offers a tremendous variety of offerings from numerous locations.
There are water fountains as well, and free soda zone in Epcot.

Well......
This looks like a good way to reduce the crowds at WDW.
If you eliminate everyone who has soy allergies and can't eat anything from the fast food joints, everyone who has allergies to MSG or other "flavor enhancers", people who can't eat processed flour products, people with Celiacs Disease, people who must take in liquids with electrolytes so they don't dehydrate, people who only eat Kosher or Halal, and people who just can't afford WDW food because they blew the budget to visit WDW, you will thin the herd.
This leaves the parks to the wealthy, in top health, overweight because they will eat anything, I don't want to be around "dirty" Commoners, self centered people who don't give a rats behind for anyone but themselves.
Yup.....
Sounds like the new America..............
