Trip Report No Bug Movie...promise! *COMPLETED*

It is with great excitement I sit here in the Atlanta airport, Disney bound with my middle child. While this is my 5th WDW trip this year (I *may* have an addiction problem...) my DS (henceforth known as Drumr) has not been to the world in 3 years...before MagicBands! Don't feel too sorry for him...his first trip was at age 2 and he has been numerous times since. (Warning to parents of young kids...be careful what traditions you start!)

Has this ever happened to you? You return to your room hot/sweaty/wet/tired (or add your own adjective) and see this:

Good news, folks...we opened our room door and it had been serviced! Yippee! Now we are waiting out the rain before venturing over to MK...praying it ceases...we really don't want to relive the MNSSHP wash-out of 2012!

I have been to two MNSSHPs, the first with DH in 2011. It was a blast, despite some thunder/lightning that caused the parade to be delayed 30 minutes (there was no rain.) I highly encouraged Drumr to buy a party ticket the following year, when he happened to be in the world at the same time as me. His uncle, aunt and two young male cousins also had tickets for the same night, and we all made plans to meet up at the party.

There was NO rain in the forecast. None. I debated whether or not to take along my umbrella and decided I wouldn't need it.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

When I met Drumr outside the MK turnstiles at 6 pm, a light sprinkle had begun to fall. We shrugged it off, got our party maps and treat bags and started down Main Street. By the time we reached the hub, it began raining harder. We decided to get dinner at Cosmic Rays.

The ordering line was short and we received our food quickly...but there was NO PLACE to sit. See, the monsoon had started and all the day guests decided to park themselves inside Cosmic Rays, despite the "park is now closing" announcements. We finally asked to share a table with a mom and her little boy. She kindly agreed.

We sat in Cosmic Rays for over an hour of relentless rain. We decided to run to Winnie the Pooh, and sloshed through puddles that were ankle deep. The rain continued. We got soaked visiting the Fantasyland attractions that were open. My brother texted me that all the outdoor attractions were closed. The characters were not out for meet and greets. The trick or treat stations had been moved to indoor ride queues.

The first parade was canceled. The fireworks were delayed an hour; Drumr and I passed the time sitting in the Main Street Bakery. When the first booms began at 10:45 pm, we walked outside and stood in the middle of Main Street to watch them in the rain.

Then the rain went away, and we gathered together to say, "Hooray!"

A shortened Boo To You began at 11:30 pm. No headless horseman. Afterwards, we took our drenched, sorry selves back to our resorts.

Needless to say, Drumr was not impressed with MNSSHP.

Pin purchased, we returned to the hub to find a spot for Hallowishes. We only had to wait a few minutes for the show to begin.

Now before you start with oohs and ahhs, it was at this moment it began to pour. We didn't want to open our umbrellas out of courtesy to those around us (we were shoulder-to-shoulder at this point) so we got wet. The sky was so foggy (combination of clouds and smoke) that most of the perimeter fireworks were hidden from view. So disappointing.

We had planned to stay for the 11:15 pm Boo To You Parade...it was raining during the time the first parade was set to start, and since we were not near the parade route, we aren't even sure there was an early parade. With the ground now soaked, the headless horseman would not ride in the late parade...assuming there would be a late parade. We decided it was time to cut our losses and go home. :arghh:

My goodness, so much activity and so many photos of the last 2 days--where do I start? ;) First of all, I think that a big highlight was when the artist signed the print for Drumr. (I couldn't see in the photo whether it was a print or a lithograph, but either one being signed by Larry Dotson, was very special. You were so lucky that he was in the park when you were there.)

The rain turned out to be a pest for some of the park activities. Bummer. Wish that didn't happen at the evening party time, as Drumr may have had a much more pleasant experience were it not raining. :(

As for Space, I also recall seeing the metal/steel structure from the PeopleMover. I've seen it before with the house lights up, and it's so bizarre to view it that way! :) I kinda like seeing it though; I've always been attracted to behind the scenes stuff like that.

What was up with Buzz? The whole point of that ride is to have the guns working!! :jawdrop:

All the food pictures look delicious!!

I'm enjoying all your observations, and particularly the hidden gems such as the CM who had played the harmonica before starting his job. It's those precious "moments" that still exist in WDW, that keep guests returning.
