Trip Report No Bug Movie...promise! *COMPLETED*

It is with great excitement I sit here in the Atlanta airport, Disney bound with my middle child. While this is my 5th WDW trip this year (I *may* have an addiction problem...) my DS (henceforth known as Drumr) has not been to the world in 3 years...before MagicBands! Don't feel too sorry for him...his first trip was at age 2 and he has been numerous times since. (Warning to parents of young kids...be careful what traditions you start!)

Two doom buggies ahead of us sat a non-English speaking gentleman who didn't understand the "No Flash Photography, Please" command from the Ghost Host. He used his flash again and again and again. It ruined some of the special effects for us...we now know the secret of Madam Leota's floating head :(.

I wanted to get another stamp in my F&W passport, so I asked Drumr if he minded if we stopped at Epcot before going to the Studios for the rest of the day. Being a good son, he agreed to his mother's request.

And being a good mother, I suggested we take the resort monorail to the TTC so that we could peruse the Grand Canyon Concourse at the Contemporary. While the Poly is my first love, the Contemporary is Drumr's. His first stay was at the age of 2, forever preserved on VHS.

We did not stay at the Contemporary again until he was 7. I will never forget his excitement as we checked in and he said, "I can't believe I'm not dreaming!"

Whoosh!

The self-order kiosks have been removed from the Contempo Cafe:

Once we arrived at the Studios, Drumr went off to ride RnR (single rider) and I went to a kiosk to see what fastpasses were still available. The two of us used FP #4 for The Great Movie Ride. This time we had the gangster scene.

Dinner at Mama Melrose followed. Thought this was interesting (though we were given a pager):

After our satisfying meal, my weary soul was ready to return home. Drumr opted to stay and rode RnR again (2x), ToT and Star Tours before the park closed at 9 pm.

Up early tomorrow for AK EMH! Can we make it???

Staying at All Star Sports (it is quite unfortunate there is no good abbreviation for it ;)) has been nostalgic. We were here as a family when the resort had only been open a couple of months. The two Surf's Up buildings were the only buildings open...Touchdown was close to completion as was Center Court. But Home Run Hotel was scheduled to open well after our vacation passed. I had seen an artist rendering of the buildings before I booked our stay, and thought my two baseball-obsessed boys would love it! But it was not to be :(.

The next year @TrolleyFollower91 was no longer able to use a pack and play, and so our family of 5 needed to move to the moderate/deluxe level. (Which began our love of Dixie Landings/Port Orleans Riverside, but that's another story @Longers).

Thus now is the fulfillment of a mother's wish made years ago.

Drumr actually has a genuine Louisville slugger bat, straight from the factory, in his room. It was a gift from his uncle who lives in Louisville.

Yea! More great piccies!!

I was surprised to hear about Pirates. I haven't been on that for maybe 4-5 years (queue lines were too long and it was too hot). Don't recall anything about getting soaked with water, though. I'm wondering if this is something more recent in the past few years or so. Don't see the point in it; it makes sense on Splash Mountain, but not so much on Pirates.

So happy to hear that your memories from years past are figuring into this trip, and that you're enjoying everything so much! :joyfull:

Bummer about the flash photography in HM. There's always one person who can wreck the experience for so many others. And it has nothing to do with a language barrier; it's just common sense and a polite gesture to others to NOT use flash in a DARK RIDE!!! :banghead:
