But it does have something to do with Disney.

If you posted the newest BigFig someone would say they like it, others would say not.

If you posted news about a reid refurb, there would be those who like it and those who dont.

This is a Disney collectable. I don't happen to like it. It's not a knock on anyone who does, and neither is my opinon of art gospel.

If you simply wanted to announce that its available, we could have locked the thread after your original poste.

I for one would like to see some more "traditional" disney art work. I happend to like "The Pearl at Night" and came quite close to buying it - I just could not figure out where to put it (and the frame did not thrill me). This whole "painting with light" stuff does not thrill me.

I'm not sure why you posted this.

I did not have a problem with people not liking the painting or expressing their opinions about the painting....if you go back and read my post you will see that. I guess you misread what I wrote.

A true artist will find a way.

You have no taste and lack the ability to say no.

Excuse me but I believe everyone has the right to have their opinion, I am sick of people forcing their opinions on everyone else. If that person likes it leave them alone. I like it too, would like to insult me too?

I guess I did misunderstand your post.

I took it to mean "If you don't like this painting and Thomas Kinkade, then why even bother opening this thread"

If thats not what you intened then I am sorry.

Sorry for the confusion.

The comment about not opening the thread was just me thinking it was kind of funny that people who strongly dislike his work always open threads about him and make comments. If someone feels that strongly about him, I don't know why they even waste their time checking out his work. I guess they just get their kicks out of putting down other peoples taste in artwork rather than respecting the fact that everyone has different tastes when it comes to art and artists (and I'm not directing this at you or other posters who simply stated they do not care for his work...I am talking about the posters who come in and state their opinions as if they are facts, say rude things and pretty much put down and disregard people who actually do like his work).

This thread did not get too bad, but other threads have and I was just hoping this one would not, which is why I made my post.
It is possible to express your dislike for art or artists without being rude and disrespectful to others, and several posters including yourself did just that.

My other point was that debating Thomas Kinkade himself and his abilities in his non-Disney work (and in past threads, his personal life and the type of person he is) has nothing to do with Disney, and would be better suited for the chit chat thread.

Hmm.. I see Wendy's face, Captain Hook's face, the Lost Boys' faces etc. I Don't know what your problem is but if you look at the painting it contradicts your critic.

So he shaped clouds into faces....and? You see the subject's backs. Hmmmmm. Perhaps that is what I was talikng about. Plus the Snow White one, plus Pinocchio and allll of his other stuff.

Btw, your avitar scares me!

Kinkade's Disney Paintings

We are Disney people from way back. When Kinkade did his first Disney piece, we came very close to purchasing that one because it showed the crow and the fun at Disney. However, the first was of DisneyLand and we are DisneyWorld people. So we waited for DisneyWorld.

DisneyWorld was just of the castle and did not incorporate any of the parks. I understand why, but just was not what we wanted, so we waited again.

Cinderella was just one of his normal forest pictures with Cinderella in it. Again, nothing that tripped our trigger.

However, when we saw the Pinicchio picture, we purchased that one immediately. We are not particularly Pinicchio fans, but the way he brought the whole movie into one picture was really good. The way the night blends into day and all the charaters are in the pictures. It really was a very neat piece of Disney art.

With the price of these paintings, I was hoping that was it. But now he came out with Peter Pan / Tinker Bell. Again, the details of bringing the whole movie into one picture was very well done. Unfortunately, we are Tinker Bell fans, so this one is on order and should be in by mid July.

Guess we will have to wait till Feb 2010 for the next one. That is fine by me since it will give time to pay for these two.

Makes sense to me

I am not a Kinkade fan - in fact it is safe to say I don't like his work. However there are a few things he has done that I do find OK. I look at his Disney work because being a Disney fan, he may someday do something that I do like, that is a Disney work, and then I may buy it.

No knocks on anybody who likes or dislikes his work.

Peter Pan is my favorite movie and this painting is amazing. I love the detail on every piece that he does and the fact that this one painting holds all the characters is beautiful.

Fun stuff! From the Disney Peter Pan film, I had the erroneous belief Big Ben was incredibly tall, rising high above the Tower Bridge as it looks in this painting. Boy was I surprised when I visited London for the first time! At a height of 320 feet, it is certainly tall enough, but I thought it would be taller.

This painting looks to be true to the film's fanciful view of London architecture, if not reality, but so what?

The painting has a lot of good going for it, I'd say. I just wish the clouds were a little less prominent, but

Question...are these Disney Kinkade paintings expected to increase in value as time goes by? Just honestly wondering, as I these are beautiful but also quite pricey. I'm not in the know regarding paintings, so I'm very curious.

Thanks.
