Awesome isnt it???? Belle

Beyond awesome. This is a special trip, and it just got a whole lot more special.

And, I have to absolutely thank Pam - as you know Belle I've always been iffy on using a travel agent, prefering to do it myself. I've been stuck at a computer all day and unable to call CRO myself - Pam booked it with only two emails from me. Saved me a huge headache. If only I had really believed you about how easy it was before - as much as I love calling CRO (and will still make my own PS's) never will I book even just a discounted room myself again.

I've been converted, Belle. :)

LOL, this is like the third time we have crossed paths. Once I think we were even at the same resort, LOL.

Guess us members of the "I live 1000+miles away and am a proud AP holder" club think alike. :)

This is why I have been using Pam's services for a number of years now!!! She even transferred over a friend of mine who had previously booked with her for a regular package so she could get the dining benefit without even asking her!!!! Pam is just awesome like that!!! I usually do my own PS, AR whatever they are called this week as well. I am glad to see that you found this so simple!!! Belle

See, I'm following exactly what you say is "bad", and I see it as GREAT!

I am sure we will end up spending just as much money as we would have in the first place, but we will get SO MUCH MORE.

1) We will get to order of menus at expensive restaurants without looking at prices

2) Instead of 1 MNSSHP we will probably go to 2 now

3) Circ De Solei tickets were out of our budget before, but with the dining savings we are going for it

4) I hope we do buy my niece tons more sovineers. This is a once in a lifetime trip for her.

Our trip budget was around $3000 before, and we will likely spend that much now. However, we will get a WHOLE lot more for that three grand then we would have before.

That's why I am so excited about this - because for the same amount of money we were going to spend before we are getting a TON more magic.

So, I guess I'm playing right into Disney's hands by your estimation. If this is being played, I hope I get played like a fine fiddle. :)

Hey, whoa, whoa, hey, who said what Disney is doing is "bad?" Did I write "bad?" Because I honestly don't rememebr writing "bad." If I did, my bad. (God, I'm funny)

All I said was that Disney is counting on people still spending that money that they're saving on the meal plan while they're on vacation, instead of pocketing it & bringing it back home. It's fine, it's great, everybody wins. Don't think I'm putting it down, because I'm not. It's just that Belle kind of implied that she won't be spending that saved money when she gets there, and all I said is that I wouldn't be surprised if she did wind up spending at least SOME of that saved money. She might not, but come on! Based on the number and text of her posts, she's the queen Disney fanatic on a board FILLED with Disney fanatics. Put her in the World, put an extra grand in her pocket, it's like giving a chocoholic a Hershey's kiss the size of a canned ham. I defy her NOT to go nuts :p At the very least, I'd bet a shiny nickel that she'd apply it towards her NEXT trip, which is pretty much the same thing as spending the money on THIS trip, Disney is still gonna get the money eventually. But if she (or anyone else) is getting more bang for the buck, I'm all for it. Quite frankly, I thought there wouldn't be ANY sort of general discounts this year, since it's been such a banner year for Disney. They've had a lot of attendance records this year, so they wouldn't NEED to entice people. But I guess as the year wears on, things are slowing down (and that IS the beginning of the school year, probably a very slow time any year anyway).

AEfx, you should double check the second half of my prior message, the half you didn't quote. That first half, out of context, makes it sound like I'm putting the offer down, but the second half shows that I'm not.

My apologies. I said "bad" because I was paraphrasing you, obviously inappropriately. It just seemed like you made several posts that seemed a bit negative, like we were getting excited over something we shouldn't.

Again, I apologize - you were being the devil's advocate, which is actually a good thing. I also play that role (in my head very often, hehe) and I attacked this one from all angles, and just found some of your cautions actually plusses in my book.

OK, fine no shopping, but a stay later on this year. But with the amount of coinage that you're saving, are you saying there's no temptation to, say, get a special dinner at V&A's? Maybe Hoop-de-Do or the dinner show at the Poly? Or do some recreational activities some people might not normally do, like mini golf, boat/bike rental, maybe even parasailing?

Oh, and AEfx, no worries. In fact, I think anyone who gets to take advantage of this offer, if it's at all possible, should take a piece of the money they're saving, maybe 20%, and spend it on ONE super-extravagant souvenier or activity. The sort of thing you always think you'd do someday, if you had umlinited funds. A piece of jewelry, or a Cuckoo clock at the Germany pavilion. :p Or upgrade your room. Indulge!

Actually as I am doing this trip with my best friend, her hubby and the kids, I am going to be more guided by what they want to do. Most likely though the only extravangance might be the MNSSHP. Possibly a Hoop De Doo but I have to sit with her and work things out and see what's what!!! I agree on the extravangance thing though. Vaacation is all about feeling pampered and special!!! Belle

Go to AllEarsNet.com, print out a few menus (Brown Derby, Le Cellier, whatever your fancy is) and tell him it's FREE. :)

For me it works out to be less to not use the package. I just called and rebooked my rooms with the military promotion and saved over a thousand dollars off the rack rates. If I rebooked as a package and got free dining that would save me about $675 but then I'd pay over a thousand more for my rooms so it's over $375 less for me to juse use the military discounts. It is a truly awesome deal though. I can't even imagine if I was able to combine it with the military room discount (I asked and they said no). The promotions right now are outstanding. I'm very happy!

From what you said in the other thread, it sounds like a GREAT deal you got yourself - on some REALLY nice rooms! The reason it worked out so great for me is that the difference on the room is only $140, but with as much as you are saving it sounds like you are right to stay where you are in terms of ressies.

It looks like the Disney Gods are all shining down upon us all in different ways today!

425 dollars per person for 6 days and 5 nights, park admission and most meals, and that's not enough to convince him? Doing the math, that works out to a vacation at $70.83 per person a day. If the meals represent a cost of roughly 40 bucks a day, you're really paying about 31 dollars a day per person...to be at Disney World! Most vacation destinations would charge more than that for you to hang out doing nothing!

You know, marriage is an overrated concept...

I get what you are saying. I have already switched my package over but I am not "saving" money, I am simply spreading my money out so I can go again in January for the Marathon. (Which I've always wanted to do)

And isnt that what it is all about??? Belle

That, and free dessert!

Hint: Appetizer + Maincourse + Dessert = Lots of food. Your points are pooled, so one person can order and use their "dining option" and then 2 people can split the food. Thay may change in the future - but for the time being Disney doesn't care.
