If the soundtrack is appearing (at the moment), hours have been extended in January by a little bit, what are they still waiting for? If the show in its current form will debut, what's taking so long?
Maybe a decision hasn't been made with how much to try and improve the show before public opening. Maybe their waiting for a slower season to debut to lower crowds.

It would have opened in late October / early November had it gotten final approval. Which it didn't (obviously)

The thing that worries me is that Disney has not even done a preshow to their 'social media brigade' to hype the upcoming show. So if guys like Brigante have not been treated to a 'advance show' I don't think the show is going up anytime soon.

That being said people misinterpret my pessimism on Disney opening stuff in a timely manner as not WANTING it to premier. AK is my favorite park and I'd love an excuse to visit but so far Disney seems to be falling flat on their face. Note that @WDW1974 has hinted that the opening of Pandora will not happen until late 2017 or later.

As to people who think I'm a 3/4 empty guy well that's too optimistic I'm more of a 9/10'ths empty guy where WDW is concerned.
It's opening within weeks. Please don't clog up the thread.
:D

As those weeks have turned into months, we learned that ford91explorer is a realist, not a pessimist.

It's very surprising to me Disney not only released the soundtrack before the show opens but they only released it in Asia and the U.K.?

I imagine it was a rights issue and these are the ones who didn't get the message not to release.

Stranger things have happened. I bought this digital album from HMV.co.uk, the web arm of a record store chain. In summer 1999, from one of their physical stores in Manchester (i.e. nowhere near the US) I bought a copy of the first release Epcot Millenium CD. It was just sat there on the shelf.

Wouldn't be shocked if it's for something stupid like tax/accounting reasons. Had to have it out before a certain date to get a credit or show loses in this calendar year. (Yes, I know their fiscal years kick in Oct) Like how movies will get released in like 5 theatres the week of Christmas, just so they can be on the 2016 award show consideration, even though the masses can't see it until April 2017.

And Disney releases a ton of amazing (read not re-hashes of the same 24 tracks) music, both park and non park related in Asia. Think they did a Japan exclusive disc on the music of Aulani.

Okay so I gave in and listened to the soundtrack... despite what some people who saw the previews said about the soundtrack I think it is great, has good pacing and does build to the finale.

Let's hope they don't change this and just manage to get the show on the lake up to the spectacle it should be.

I know it's all a matter of taste but I can't believe anyone couldn't like this music. I've listened to it several times now. Even the Tree of Life awakening music is fantastic (I haven't seen those in person or watched any actual videos of it so first I'm hearing it). I even liked the Disney medley of songs. Just beautiful.
I actually loved how fitting the Disney medleys were for the Tree Of Life since it really fits the visuals.

Well a broken clock is still right twice a day;)

If they turn EPCOT into a huge casino or cancel Star Wars Land in Florida then I'll bow down to @ford91exploder and admit that he's all knowing. Until then I just enjoy his posts as entertainment and enjoy watching the people who overreact to them:D:D:D

I would think that the bean counters would want this show out ASAP. They already spent most of the money making it but without it AK is not staying open late so it's not making any more money. If anything it seems like in this case the creatives won one over the bean counters and got the show delayed until they can fix the problems and make it closer to perfect.

I thought the soundtrack was leaked

It's for sale through HMV. Not a likely source for a leak. Large chains usually like to to play nice with companies that have large legal departments.
Especially chains that deal in media working with one of the largest media companies in the world.
