I'm really surprised this wasn't announced at the D23 Expo, I don't know that it would have made any difference in terms of the public take aways from the presentation but it seems to be as substantial as the Fantasy Faire addition in Disneyland.

That would have required someone from Walt Disney World's parks and resorts division actually attending the expo?

or maybe they just weren't ready?

No, it would require them to actually announce something for WDW.

This is going to be so cool. I am really excited about this because it will give a chance to simply explore the park on a new adventure. Great article!

My son in love will adore this as will his 5 year daughter. I am looking forward to this also. Sounds like it a great way to see parts of the park in a new light. Getting more psyched about destination date 12.2012

God bless the "Ignore" button.
As a relatively normal 23 year-old male, I do have a fondness for the KP World Showcase Adventure. Hopefully this'll be up and running when I get there with the college program (fingers crossed). I dunno if I could possibly NOT try this out, as geeky as I am.

As a fellow geek, older but still geeky, I was giddy with excitement for this game. My fiance who isnt a nerd at all had a ton of fun. The thing that I enjoyed most is the interactivity with the kimmunicator and the environment around you. Aside from interacting with actual CMs the thing is completely seamless with the architecture and surroundings.

Is there any confirmation or truth to the rumor stated earlier that KP is moving aside for Phineas & Ferb?

I'll say this....My kids, who enjoy the KP missions at Epcot, will go absolutely bat@#$% over a change to P&F.....and in a good way. They are both huge P&F fans and they don't know KP from a hole in the wall....and my kids are very much representative of the target audience for the KP missions.

If Disney does make such a change, it's for the better.

Glad to see that this finally fleshed out from all the rumors. And PirateFrank, I would not count on KP being the theme for the somewhat distant future in the Showcase, though I believe P&F were talked about for Studios more than for EPCOT (they're a natural fit at Studios, with other P&F features, like in the Osborne Lights).

No, there is not.

That rumor never even existed.

Besides, a P&F-themed World Showcase Adventure would not work for a myriad of reasons:

1) Perry doesn't talk.

2) Dr. Doofenschmirtz doesn't try to take over the entire world like the KP villains do. Doof only tries to take over the tri-state area.

3) The P&F characters don't travel around the world like the KP characters do.

Oh, it exists, and has been discussed since...oh, the opening of KP. Just not amongst the bus drivers. :ROFLOL:

But seriously, KP has been thought to be a bit of a placeholder theme by many for quite a while. The attraction as a whole has also been questioned as being more than an extended real-life play test. Your other points made are correct, though, about the Phineas and Ferb theme clashing with the World Showcase a bit too much.

Pretty much. Now, a "Treasure Hunting with Scrooge McDuck" version of the game? That would be fantastic.

I was about to post the exact the same thing. Kim Possible is fine, of course, but Scrooge McDuck is a classic (and still enormously popular in comics all around the world).

Never played the KP game at World Showcase...but I have a question for some of those in-the-know:

Is Imagineering going to attempt to integrate the QR codes or other clues a bit better? Giant, white/black code squares on particle board parchment seems...clunky, for lack of a better term.

I look around the parks and the THEMEING is the thing. Begin to break that down and the whole suspension of disbelief becomes near impossible. I was thinking of a proprietary code format with a free smartdevice application for download. Sounds like you'll need an 'app' anyway.

Really like the idea of interactivity though; the codes could easily be used within other groups like T.V. and online.

What QR codes are you referring to as KP does not use them?
