So the keyholes will function like QR codes?

What QR codes are you referring to as KP does not use them?

Right, I wasn't very clear when referencing the QR codes and KP. The KP game doesn't use'em but I did see this:

It just looks like these signs MAY cause some theme issues; and I think they are not aesthetically pleasing...any where in polite society, not just Disney. But especially in Disney in my opinion.

I'm sure it's an easy solution to roll out the game on schedule and under budget utilizing existing technology. Use existing best-of-breed, proven tech/process but don't forget to "plus" it if the results are a bit off. Disney Imagineering is best when they innovate.

Where is that sign currently located?

edit: I scanned that with the QR Scanner on my Blackberry and it caused my phone to reboot.

That could be a bummer for someone in the park. My gf complains about her reboot time on the BB. Takes almost 10 minutes sometimes.

If you want what it says PM me

I just tried with two different phones, a Droid and a Slide.

Both running different barcode scanners, both worked just fine.

Blackberry/RIM....just say no.

You don't get to play the game. Not Disney's fault your phone sucks. :)

Bwah ha ha!

As a former BES administrator NOTHING handles mail better than a blackberry. Its really sad how they let their enterprise blinders ruin their products.

As a tech geek and a fan of progressive technology that will one day be powering just about everything we own, android is king.

RIM sat back way too long and are in big trouble because of it.

is this supposed to work on your own smart phone or will they provide one?

Neither.

It looks like Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom will uses the same technology as Disney Cruise Line's Midship Detective Agency. All the player will need is a paper card with a black and white pattern printed on the back. No device required.

Looks interesting but that doesn't explain the QR codes on the signs out and about, you need to read them with something. Clearly the one posted has a message on it and doesn't require any special application. Maybe its a combination of the cruise technology and something new. I really hope it brings more elements from the KP game to MK. Interacting with the environment was one of my favorite things about it. I don't want to ruin anything for anyone who hasn't done it but seeing the finale to the UK adventure was one of my favorites. I absolutely didn't expect that much of a result.
