It's a few screens now, but expanding. I'm sure there will be lots once they are done (it's in Liberty Square, Frontierland, Adventureland, and Main Street now, right?).

Here is one of the photos from the second article, of a potential sign to be used in the game. Sorry I forgot to transfer it over in my op:

So, how will this work with the cards? Are they going to do a purchase a pack kind of deal (like baseball cards) or will you get random cards when you sign up to play? Seems like they could have a collectibles hit on their hands.

I don't wanna be conceited, but I can't resist the urge to toot my own horn here:

All the talk of cards and codes and such made something occur to me. Do you think Disney may be looking into not only creating a new "attraction" to address capacity issues, but maybe also a new collectable merchandise craze like pins and vinylmation? Just go with me here, did any of you ever play Magic the Gathering or any other card trading game? Ok, imagine that kind of format, but applied to a tech heavy interactive game. You maybe would get a free/cheap starter pack of cards representing things like Disney heroes/heroines, enchanted items, and magic spells. Each card would have a QR code/RFID chip/something else that would allow the cards to interact with the game in a manner unique to the card. Then as you play the game, you would choose which items/characters to use to overcome challenges and defeat villains. Some choices would bring victory, others not (leading to another section of the quest to try again). The merchandising genius of this setup would be that the starter pack would only have a meager selection of possibilities, the truly powerful characters/spells/objects can only be bought/traded for. And new/rare ones could come out in a similar fashion to other collectables. What do you think? I can't imagine I was able to think this up rather quickly, and somehow Disney hasn't already considered it. It seems right up their ally.

Called it ;)

Got a lot more gameplay and tech details at the Disney Projects blog, which is apparently blocked here.

Also video of Dr. Facilier. Apparently voodoo is no match for children's trading cards

So, in the wee hours of the morning behind the castle today before the marathon came through I was out waiting for my characters (photopass at 5am? you bet!) and I saw some imagineers running around and saw them testing about 5 or 6 locations for this that are in the castle courtyard area. The sensors are little keyholes, it's adorable. And from what I saw it involved A LOT of villains, including ones that otherwise aren't given any love at all (like Hades, seeing and hearing him again brought me back to my childhood!) but yeah, it looks like it's going to be awesome. And what's really neat is that the locations, unless you know what you're looking for to activate the screens, you don't notice them at all, the technology for those screens is absolutely amazing (especially the one by Sir Mickey's)
