I don't even really have an issue with it, beyond them taking prime viewing areas that people pay $100 a day for, and making people pay an upcharge ... all to see a tired show that was planned to be retired in 2001 originally.

Well this way they can claim NGE is a success because of increased revenue. I'm sure any attendance bump from Mine Train will also be attributed to NGE as well.

Pay $100 for a "special" viewing of Illuminations? Are you (redacted) kidding me? They'd have to pay me to watch that show again, I've seen it so many times over the years. (Not that it was that remarkable to begin with, fanboi opinion notwithstanding.)

I dunno, I think I'd go to Anaheim or light a cigar with a burning hundred-dollar bill before I had the privilege of paying for a $100 viewing of Illuminations.

For us who have not seen it for over 7 yrs the show will still be amazing. I have no idea what effects would be working that might not be at the time. I love fire though so I really enjoy all the explosions (yes I confess I am a pyro)

You left out the number 1 reason many people including myself will line up for this.

Not having to deal with other people.

The single worst thing about parade or fireworks viewing at WDW is having to defend your territory against people who see no problem with squeezing into the 6" of air you left between you and railing in front of you 5 minutes before the fireworks start. I gladly drop a little coin to not have to deal with that.

I have done Terrace Dessert Party a many times just to not have to deal with the crowd, and really that price point is not very for Wishes IMO. Would I keep doing it if the price raises? Nope. Would I do EPCOT's if it is all you can drink of sparkling wine? YEP, and I will get every penny's worth with that. It fits given that EPCOT is just a bar now.

The price still isn't as bad as DLR's Fantasmic Package. $60/each and you get a box of a few desserts and your choice of juice or coffee/hot chocolate.

I think we should all reserve judgement until we get to see the first party. I have booked this to experience myself and am looking forward to having a good time. Illuminations has been around forever, but to me it is a well done high quality show. I don't understand why so many times people start complaining about things before they even have experienced them. This includes the new illuminations party, and even my magic +. Experience them for yourself then make judgement on it. You might even be surprised.

I could take my family of 7 to the bakery in France , we each could get a dessert, and it still wouldn't cost $50. Plus we could all see the show! An average family would not be able to justify such a luxury! Seems ridiculous to me!

With regard to my comments, I'm more than willing to pay top dollar for a quality experience, but I have no intention of throwing money down a rathole.

My concern is that costs are skyrocketing with little to no improvement in quality. In contrast, at DCA the quality has grown enormously over the past few years and I believe the value is worth the money I pay for the experience.

How others spend their money is their business. I personally feel that cheerleading decreased value is in not something I like to do.

Isn't that a description of WDW as a whole? I don't really take issue with Disney adding a luxury offering to a luxury vacation. I just don't like when they take away a previously-free viewing site. If you want to charge $1000/seat to view from the top of the Mayan pyramid in the Mexico pavilion, right on. I assume flan would be included.

I was surprised by that also. Although it may be that they feel that the wedding and corporate bookings of the spaces around World Showcase is a much better earner.

Yeah, there was no shortage of 'reserved seating' areas around the lagoon already! getting competitive for space

Just booked it for March 28th. Let you all know how it goes! Just hope the view is worth the price as well.
