Hmm Might be fun to try ONCE!
You left out the number 1 reason many people including myself will line up for this.
Not having to deal with other people.
The single worst thing about parade or fireworks viewing at WDW is having to defend your territory against people who see no problem with squeezing into the 6" of air you left between you and railing in front of you 5 minutes before the fireworks start. I gladly drop a little coin to not have to deal with that.
Sure, if you are incredibly short sighted. So far, Disney seems to be doing this correctly. When they start doing it wrong I will complain about it.If enough people agree with you, they can just keep adding these kind of upcharges reducing the available viewing areas for the hoi poloi. Which will only make the crowding problem worse and the upcharges more desirable. Thus leading to more successful upcharges. Soon you have a vicious cycle leading to everyone having to pay $50 if they want to see the fireworks.

I was surprised by that also. Although it may be that they feel that the wedding and corporate bookings of the spaces around World Showcase is a much better earner.
I am seeing that there is no seating for this event on Chip &Dale. No Thank you! I would rather sit down.
I'm not seeing anything yet. Would it be under one of the other category options?
The Year of a Million Upcharge$$$Howdy folks! Join in the fun and bring out those wallets! We call them "Limited-Time Hand-in-your-Pocket-Events" down around these parts. Join Minnie, Mickey, and all of the gang, taking your hard earn dollars for all sorts of rollicking-fun things that used to be free.

I would guess that there will be some high-top tables to rest food and drinks on, but no seats. It lends to more of a mingling atmosphere (especially since everybody will end up at the water's edge) and requires less set upWhy aren't these people watching the fireworks?
This suggests that there will be seating.
Somehow I already see no availability for the times during my trip in May. No huge loss, honestly.
Surely they wouldn't charge full price for teenagers who are under twenty-one at an event involving wine? That's nuts.
It does not look like it well be yet. It seems to be following the same pattern that the Wishes! party did where available dates just sort of randomly get released. Is this going to be a 180-day booking event? I see on the website you can only book through 6/7
^^^ What he said^^^
It will most likely be a random ADR mess like Wishes. I really wish they would at least lock down some kind of dates to make an ADR. It is not like they will just cancel such a money making extra.
