New Contemporary tower art

They are all different based on what you want to do. Some versions are tailored to engineers (more technical things like masses, centroids, material analysis, etc. go into these types) and others are for architects and artists.

BTW, if you don't exactly know how to use CAD programs, you might want to be careful in your purchase. Some of them can be more complicated to run without education, plus from what I understand some cost upwards of $5000 (if you get all the bells and whistles). They do sound fun to play on, though.

I use AutoCAD 2006 and I've never had a problem with it...I mostly do 2D stuff but it does have the 3D technology. I know there are better 3D programs out there though.

I know, I'm resurrecting another dead horse...

Updated pictures of the north wing grounds (on the front page under May 14, news) suggests something round, at least the current dirt formation is of that shape. Jives with plans and renderings so far.

Interested to see next updates.

Sounds like the original art work, thanks for the update, no need to be sorry if it is an update on the topic.

I wonder how much will be built before they announce it officially.

We all know what it is, but they don't want to slow down AKL DVC sales.

a 14-story tower will take some time to build, and with timeshare law I think they have to be so far toward completion before they can officially announce something (someone smarter than I can tell us that)...

I'm also torn between it being DVC and it being Suites and DVC mix. I don't agree that they'd build an entirely suites hotel, I can't see that being great business as I would think it may hurt Concierge sales in the A-Frame.

That could also just be the launch pad site for WDW transportation to Magic Kingdom Mars :D

looks like their maybe a type of "peoplemover" or moving walk way connecting you from the tower to the main tower.

Hopefully this will be DVC. I really want this to be DVC!

COME ON DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!! LISTEN TO WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks to me like its just the monorail. But WOW!!! That's like an entirely new hotel practically!! Any stats on rooms etc? Is this concept art official yet?

most timeshares are built in phases that are very carefully planned.....

disney does not want all "bad" inventory left at the end of the sales phase, and that is why with previous projects, everything is built in phases, and each phase has a proportion of premium and sub-premium units.

When a "tower" like that pictured is built, ALL inventory is available at one time, and the sales phase becomes a bit trickier.

The key point is that Saratoga is filling fast, and AK Resort is not large, will fill quickly....Disney stands to lose its entire DVC sales force if they do not have a few sequels in line for after the current projects......

OK, I'll bite. What are you referring to with 'timeshare law'?

Timeshares are subject to state laws to keep them from screwing over their clientele. For instance, these laws prevent their yearly dues from spiking.

I spoke with a few DVC employees while down in Disney last week (my family bought into the AK villas while we were down there) and I told them of the "rumor" of the DVC tower at Contemporary and what could they tell me about it.....they couldnt really tell me for sure thats its happening (understandable..since if its not official they could lose their jobs if they told people about it) but they dropped hints and indirectly told me that its definetly happening.

I would assume the focus right now is on selling the AK villas. When its close to or sold out....Im guessing they will make a formal announcement on the Contemporary tower.

Yes ... but what exactly does that have to do with them waiting for a while to announce it?
I don't know about actually announcing the project, but at least "soliciting" it. All timeshare materials (even those just describing the project) have a notice stating "this advertising material is being used for the purpose of soliciting the sale of time-share periods" (or something to that effect). The AKL literature goes further with a disclaimer that the project is not yet complete, all drawings are artists renderings based on current plans, etc. The basic gist is, I think they have to have their plans all lain-out before they really start announcing the plans (since technically the announcement would be a solicitation). Again, not a lawyer here, but that's my understanding of the situation.

i was down there last week and while waiting for the monorail in front of us we were stoped just outside the contemporary for about 10 min. the driver was talking over the pa and said that the construction was for "the new disney contemporary vacation club" those were her exact words. so she pretty much confermed it for me.

Welcome to the boards, Dymad!

I had a boat driver say the same thing. But I will caution you... transportation drivers are notoriously inaccurate in their rumors. ( Granted, I fully believe this one will come to pass -- but just a general rule for the future. :) )

Like I said, people smarter than me...

There is likely little value to DVC announcing but not being able to (at least relatively quickly) sell the property. I'm guessin the announcment comes (if we're right) close to their ability to actually solicit sales for the location.

Part of me also thinks they're waiting to announce DVC in CA prior to CR. They know that a Disneyland DVC probably won't take away significant Florida sales, so getting that announcment out to get some west coast buys going, then announcing anouther WDW resort makes some sense also.

[drift] Man , I would love having a west coast DVC. I just hope it'd be standard points (meaning we could afford to actually go there) rather than those jacked-up reservation points for the current DL hotels. [/drift]

The question is where would they put it. Or would they just convert part of one of the hotels already there.
