Dude, she goes to bed. King Triton is informed they can't find her. The sun rises, she goes on the freaking tour. It ain't a dream. Get over yourself and admit that you are wrong this time. I mean seriously the teenagers I teach aren't as thick headed as you are. :brick: :brick: :brick: :brick: :brick:

Edit: Are you saying the Kiss the Girl scene and other characters dialogue during the scene are also part of the dream?

Considering I have not seen the movie in 2 decades I will have to watch it again and get back to you. I clearly said I was judging by the screen captures. By the way, another poster seems to agree it is a dream. It's all explained earlier in the thread. This has been a good thread. Definitely worth reading.

I have read it and I just posted links directly to the scene on Youtube. It clearly shows that it is not a dream sequence. All you have to do is look at the 2 Youtube links I provided. It isn't hard jt, just click them.

"The weird trippyness may just be that Vanessa (i.e. Ursula) has an enchanting voice (Ariel's stolen voice) that Eric hears. This may be taken as a dream sequence as the lighting and the sounds are other-worldly "

I'm not arguing, just noting the difference of opinion. We really need someone who worked on the film to know for sure. I have to watch it again. I'm not saying you are wrong.

Vanessa isn't even thought of when the tour scene happens. Ursula doesn't decide to become Vanessa until after Eric and Arial almost kiss during the kiss the girl sequence which happens at the end of the tour. They are knocked out of the boat by Flotsam and Jetsom to prevent the kiss from happening. It's not a dream.

Um...JT...I haven't seen The Little Mermaid in a long time either, but having just watched the clips posted...it's not even close to a dream. It's what's actually happening to her.

Just watch the two clips...you'll CLEARLY see it is not a dream.

No problem...it's just one of those things where, clearly, it is not a dream. I don't even get the dream idea out of it...it's just very apparent it's what's actually happening to her.

And yes! Come on by again! :)

Dream or not it does not change my opinion that tropical plants do not "fit" the new LM land outside the castle walls. That was the originl point before the thread drifted away.

Then there are willow trees....

Those are lovely! Add those!

Wow, just wow. I'm glad to hear there is another poster who agrees it's a dream. Someday I'll force myself to watch the movie again. I'll make up my own mind.

Anyway, I'm starting to think wdw74 may be right. If people here don't see the problem with palm trees being placed inside the new FL, then guests are certainly lowering expectations. And he is correct in saying that if guests haver lower expectations, then Disney is more than happy to oblige.

It used to be guests expected a cohesiveness to the story telling Disney so richly accomplished in the design of the "lands" that make up it's theme parks.

I just find it amazing that people would accept a tropical exterior to LM and also complain about characters in Epcot's Future World. It makes no sense to be so contradictory. :brick:

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Thank you.
:ROFLOL: Are you for real, jt? I doubt it. Cohesiveness and standards will be preserved...SEEING THAT THAT ARE IN THE MOVIE.
 Not shouting, but seriously, how do you justify this being a slip of quality? It's right from the film, dream or not.

He posted clips, why not watch? Don't be closed minded about this, the proof is right in front of you.

They were in the movie. It works, around TLM, and that's it. Put them near BatB, we have a problem.

But, they do. They are found in the film and in Europe. It isn't like they are taking random plants an putting them around the Prince Eric's Castle. They are present in the movie and in real life.

Just popped in to say....Palm trees in Fantasyland?
Yes, please!:sohappy:
The greatest ride to ever reside in Fantasyland had them, so it makes sense that the only really good part of the new FL gets them too.

Tell the stupid princesses to get out of the way. They're blocking my view of the palm trees.

And magic carpets are in "aladdin" but you complain about them being in Adventureland.

Then what is supposed to convey then?

I've explained this several times in this thread. Tropical settings are not consistent with the overarching theme of the new FL IMO. It is important for a land to be cohesive. Just look how many people complained about the PatF parade going through Liberty Square. That was because the time frame was off. Same idea with putting palm trees in the new FL.

The Mediterranean coast. Wait! They have palm trees there. :lookaroun

Obviously the new FL is not set near the med. It's aesthetics are very much more north/central europe. And that is where all of it's folklore originates from. Including Pinnochio.

TLM could've very easily been placed in southern France in the movie. It is not made clear, but the fact that they have palm trees and a French chef it leads me to believe that is the setting.

Of course, that is my personal opinion.

I've traveled a bit and the terrain/topography and architecture are most definitely not southern France. IMO.
