Never in July at AS Music

 :brick: When I tell yoy vacation from H___ I mean it. We were awake every night all night. We had 641 kids from Brazil in our building. They played soccer all night down in front of Broadway. Skinny dipping, running through the food court knocking people down. Screaming and yelling when they came back from the parks and buying egga God only knows where and having egg fights. From the time we checked 7/13 till the day we left 7/22 it was constant. We called security on our cell phone because our phone never worked in our room the whole time. Called about that and they finally had a guy come the last day and he couldn't fix it. Finally to top everything one night our room keys didn't work. We were locked out 45 minutes until engineering showed up. I went to the front desk after enough is enough and complained and do you know they just wanted to give me fast passes to the park. We told them no and we should get something better than that. They finally gave us 2 nights back on my credit card. They knew this when we checked in because other people already had complained. Can anyone top this.

It's look like to me I am probably never going to hear from. I contacted way before some of you and still have not heard anything. Maybe I'll stop and think about going over to Universal and staying next time, or do they have the same problem?
Every tourist destination in Orlando has the same issue in July.

My 8th grade DS went on a school trip to Washington DC over Memorial Day. The tour company posted guards in the the hallways of the hotel ALL NIGHT. There was going to be NO monkey business on their watch. If you screwed up, you went home. Period.

Oh, I bet you get plenty of follow up. I work in management....and if I was in Disney management, and a 5000 point DVC owner called with a complaint, not only would I be listening, I would be listening tentively and that guest would have my cell phone number to call if he/she ever had a problem while on property again.

You're right I did get a phone number and was asked not to release out to the public. Funny thing about this phone number is it's area code is not 407 (Orlando) but 559 (California).I also did receive another call from a Steven Aultz(not sure if I'm spelling his last name correctly) today at work. We covered most of the same things I went over with Andrea the day before but he was looking for specific incidents so I gave him as many details as I could remember. He also told me I'd be getting a call back before the end of day on Monday. So we'll see.

Yup, any trips we had in high school had the same thing. Curfew was 11, our chaperones called each room at 11 to make sure everyone was in the room, and there were guards on every floor.

Most of their Legal Department is in California so that would explain the area code. (I'm a paralegal and thought about appling at Disney, but don't want to live in Cali).

I'm jelouse of your pull. I hope something is done. I have never been in July, but thank you anyway for taking action on this. Something needs to be done.

...(snip) ..."I have a substantial investment in DVC points, 5000 points (not bragging or boasting here I know that’s a lot of points)"

...(snip)... "She then offered me a full refund of my 3 AP’s but I refused (I know you’re all going to think I’m nuts for turning that down but I wanted to stand my ground) and told her I don’t want “free” things I want the problem resolved. "

...(snip)..."I know I’m not going to get what I want but I do feel a little better that I stood up for myself and was not just blown off."

Yes, that's a lot of points and I don't think anyone here is especially surprised that you declined the offer of the refund for 3 APs. To a person that's paying in excess of $20,000 USD each year on maintenance fees for their DVC points, the cost of 3 APs is fairly trivial and about equivalent to the original poster being offered some fastpasses.

You may not get exactly what you want, but you're at least being given some genuine "customer service" and "guest relations", no doubt due to your family's substantial investment in DVC points.

It may be that the best we "Disney Fans" can hope for is that one of the 50-member Brazilian Tour Groups would actually encounter one of the Corporate Groups being escorted into or out of their special "Wishes" viewing area, and that the Tour Group would perform their "Magic" on the Corporate Group. THAT would definitely get someone's attention, especially if it's the 'right' Corporate Group.....

Hey, A Man's gotta have a Dream!!

Iam not a DVC member maybe that is why after all my problems on our vacation from hell I only got a email saying some one will be incontact with me sometime before 8/15. Let's see what happens. I am still a paying vacationer and deserve some kind of a help. Most people save and save to go. I envy you, I only wish we could be a DVC member, but I will take my once a year vacation to the world.

Hi All,
I contacted WDW guest relations like cheezedoodle20 was doing early this morning, around 8am and much to my surprise I got a message from them left on my machine to contact Andrea Fox at my earliest convenience when I arrived home from work around 4:30. After an almost hour long talk with her I feel a little better. Here is what transpired: First I let her know that I have a substantial investment in DVC points, 5000 points (not bragging or boasting here I know that’s a lot of points) and that me and my extended family like to use them often and during our latest visit last week we had a terrible run in with the Brazilian tour groups and I gave her details and told her this wasn’t the first time. I also told her that it is totally unacceptable for a company like Disney that promotes itself as a safe and fun place for families to go and enjoy a wonderful and magical vacation together that it would allow this type of behavior to keep occurring in the parks and resorts and to have to put up with this type of behavior is just unbelievable. She asked if I reported this to any CM’s and I told her yes but what can a CM do and not to hold the CM responsible for this type of incident. This should have been taken care of by management as I know for a fact that this type of issue has been reported before by other Disney guests. She then explained that Disney can not watch every guest for every minute they are in any of the parks or resorts and I agreed with that but I said, you could assign a CM or Disney chaperone to monitor/guide these groups. She agreed with that and said it is something Disney is currently looking in to. She then offered me a full refund of my 3 AP’s but I refused (I know you’re all going to think I’m nuts for turning that down but I wanted to stand my ground) and told her I don’t want “free” things I want the problem resolved. She was speechless for a moment and then said I understand your request and I will do my best to get this to the proper people that can make these types of decisions and set operating processes. I then told her that I was going to be contacting my local media about this if this issue is not corrected and that I would also be posting online in various fan based websites to make sure every knows about this issues and to contact guest relations if they’ve had a problem similar to mine. She then told me that she will do the best she can in relaying my concerns and that if she were to get a definitive answer on this issue she would contact me directly. That’s where the call ended.

I know I’m not going to get what I want but I do feel a little better that I stood up for myself and was not just blown off. You know, now that I think of it, when we said goodbye Andrea didn’t tell me to have a magical day. Ah well, beggars can’t be choosers, right?

That's what needs to happen to fix the problem. Get enough of the big spenders riled up. Kudos for turning down the AP's. I hope something comes of it.

I've never experienced a Brazilian tour group, but the stories I hear about them on this forum year after year infuriate me.

I 100% agree with you doodle. Since I am a DVC member WDW knows that I'm going to come to WDW and use my points but you on the other hand don't have a tie to WDW. Although I don't have to use my points at WDW or DL the point structure is setup so your points go further on WDW property. But you could go anywhere for your vacation, Disney has to earn your vacation stay so it is you who should get the greater attention of guest relations and not I. Don't give up on your quest for satisfaction on this issue. The more of us that stand up and shout, the better chance we have of getting some portion of satisfaction. :)

Yeah the maintenance fees are killers. Every Jan 15th is a big day.

To be honest, I wasn't thinking monetarily when I declined the AP reimbursement. It has become all too common a theme in the business world to toss a trinket or two at the customer who has a complaint and that seems sooth the upset consumer 90% of the time. This is neither a good or bad thing but for me and I hope for others there is more to keeping a satisfied customer then just giving me something for free when I have a bad issue arise during one of my stays. WDW, in my opinion doesn’t have to earn a guests first visit business and what I mean by that is, WDW has become something of an institution of sorts like IBM was a few years ago. Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM as the saying went. In that respect people just go to WDW because it’s what everybody does or “I’m going to Disney World” as the tag line in all the commercials went. Now with that said WDW does have to earn that guests return trip to WDW. So tossing FP’s at someone who complains about a tour group or even reimbursing them a few days for the same issue is not going to cut it, at least not in my book. Again I know I’m not going to change the world (excuse the pun J ) but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t try and try I will.

I’ve contacted the Edmonton Journal and The Edmonton SUN news papers and I’ve tried to contact the CBC. Hopefully I’ll hear back from them soon. There is a large contingent of people who go to WDW and not DL up here to escape our winters and I’m making contact with as many of them as I can and see if they have also had this issue. We’ll see where this goes and what response I get from WDW.

First of all, let me congratulate and thank you for your courage and your persistence. Don't give up.

Might I suggest you also contact papers near Disney properties as well? Just a thought.

I'm having a bit of trouble reconciling this thread with this other one:

http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=211752

Is it all about timing?
Yes it is. IMHO July and early August are simply the worst times to be in WDW primarily due to the large tour groups. Due to the lower cost the majority of these tour groups will all but take over the value resorts. There are other times of year that will have crazy attendance levels (ie Christmas week) but there is something about the mob mentality, combined with some cultural differences that really make those months unbearable.

Exactly! We've stayed at the values in the spring and fall, and never had a problem, but the summer months are another story!
