Mousefan1972's Christmas in Disney 2008

My family and I celebrated our second Christmas in WDW last week. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and were there from Dec. 17 until Dec. 26. It may take me some time to complete this TR so please bear with me. I will try to keep it heavy on the pics and light on the narration. :animwink:

So... Off we go! We left snowy/rainy Boston on Wednesday morning, Dec. 17. We took the ME shuttle to WL and arrived there around 1:30 p.m. At check in, I asked if there were any openings for us to be the flag family and was told yes! (more on that later) Our room was ready, so we went to room 5053 and checked it out. We had a courtyard view with bunk beds. We were on the inner courtyard, near the springs. Very pretty view. After dumping our carryons we had lunch at Roaring Fork, then jumped on the boat to MK. Crowds were light and we did many of our favorite rides: PotC, HM, BTMRR, Cinderella's Carousel, and IASW.

Two major milestones were reached on this trip: DS (age 3) reached 40 inches in height for the first time! :sohappy: No more baby swap for Test Track, BTMRR, Splash Mountain, Soarin' or ToT! And DD (age 5) reached 44 inches in height for the first time. (DH is 6'5"; the kids definitely inherited his height, not mine) :lookaroun

We had plans to meet up with Dot (Uponastar) and Vince (Merhearted) and after a few cell phone calls, found them in front of the castle. We watched Cinderella's Holiday Wish, then found a spot in Frontierland to watch Spectromagic! It was so great to meet Dot and her husband George, and to see Vince again. After the parade, we were beat from being up since 5 a.m., so we said our goodbyes and headed back to WL.

After the parade, we went to the Polynesian to relax for a bit before dinner at the Kona Cafe. It was wonderful, as usual. We really like that place. After that we went back to MK. I think the cool temps must have kept some people in, because it was the least crowded that night that it had been since the night we arrived.

On Tuesday, Dec. 23, we were able to be the Flag Family at WL! :sohappy: We went up to the roof at 8:15 a.m. with Ranger Don, and the kids helped him raise the 5 flags. What a beautiful view! It was a great experience. After the ceremony, he invited us to have breakfast on the concierge floor. It was very cool.

Thanks for the kind comments, guys! Glad you like the report.

After the flag raising ceremony, we went to AK for the first and only time this trip. DD chickened out and wouldn't ride EE even though she was tall enough. :hammer: So all we did there was KS, some meet n' greets at Camp Minnie-Mickey, It's Tough to be a Bug!, and some shopping.

Don't worry; Dale was ok after DS tackled him.

We decided we wanted to see the Osbourne Lights one more time, so we headed to the Studios later in the afternoon.

Back at the Studios, we took the kids to see Playhouse Disney Live!, as we had never seen it. It was cute, but I wouldn't see it again. Then we had a quick dinner, went on the GMR, and sauntered over to see the Osbourne Lights one last time....

We headed back to WL fairly early, since we had a 7:45 a.m. ressie at 'Ohana Christmas Eve morning. Up next: Christmas Eve at MK.

On Christmas Eve we were up early to go have breakfast at 'Ohana, one of the kids' favorites. It was nice, but very rushed. Lots of lovin' and shovin'.

After breakfast, we took the resort monorail to MK. We were planning to be there all day, with a dinner reservation at LTT that evening. Once at MK, we rode the usual favorites, with DD requesting a ride on the Carousel to ride Cinderella's horse. (DS had gotten it last time)

Ok, something happened with my laptop and posted that before I was done with it.

So after riding the Carousel, we wanted to do something different. We decided to go to Pixie Hollow to meet the Fairies. We were advised by a CM friend to get there right at opening to have a minimal wait. Toontown was supposed to open at 10, and we got there at 9:45 to find it not only already open, but the Fairies were up to a 45 minute wait! We waited anyway, since we had no reason not to. DS would have nothing to do with them, so only DD got her picture taken.

After meeting the Fairies, we decided to watch the 12:00 Christmas parade. Did I mention that I love that parade? :lookaroun

One thing I really wanted to do on Christmas Eve was see Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas show at the Galaxy Theatre. It was so cute! We had never seen it before. I definitely recommend it if you are there during the holidays.

We had dinner at LTT around 5:30 that evening. I am so bummed that the charaters are leaving.

After dinner, we watched Cinderella's Holiday wish and gazed at the beautiful dream lights. Then we rode Jungle Cruise, and called it a night. Back at the Lodge, we were very surprised to see Minnie in the lobby! :sohappy: DD surmised that she must have taken a special "character bus" in order to make it from MK to WL in such a short amount of time.

We spent some time enjoying the lobby, then staggered up to bed, tired but happy.
