Trip Report More Fun than I ever Imagined on the Re-Imagined Magic!

It’s time for a trip report on the brand new Disney Magic!! Okay not-quite-as-new-as-if-I’d-written-this-report-in-October Disney Magic!

Sorry. I’m only a couple of trips behind now at least! :D

Who: Myself, Heather and Missy! Here’s our (bad) phone selfie!

What: The inaugural sailing of the reimagined Disney Magic. It actually wasn’t supposed to be the inaugural sailing but the inaugural sailing was cancelled due to damage the ship sustained when crossing the ocean. I hated that for those booked, but I was not sad to be the first ones onboard!

Where: A two night cruise to nowhere out of Miami! Short and sweet. Our motto was no time for sleep! We could sleep when we got home.

No such thing as too many funnel pictures! Especially when they're taken by such a skilled photographer!! ;) All those pictures from the top decks are so vivid, I can almost feel the sun beating down on me and the sea air rushing by. As if I was there. <sigh> I wish. :)

Now I'm back! But I just read your lovely report!!! Tammy, it is great and seriously getting me really excited to cruise on the Magic next June. I am not a fan of the chandelier...if you can call it that...but I'm so excited to explore a different ship! I'm determined to get on the Aquadunk (do they still let you in the pools if it's colder?) i know it's only going to be like 50ish up in Norway but I want to try it once!

I am most excited for Animators...when I always used to see tv specials and such for cruises before I ever tried one that was the thing that always stood out to me changing from Black and White to colored...I mean it's cool on the Dream, but I'm not a huge fan of Finding Nemo so the Animator's on the Magic is where it's at!

Your pictures are just AMAZING! What do you guys do with it when you go in the pool? Do you leave it all on a chair?

Andy's room looks so much fun! I love how they did everything from the perspective of being a toy on the floor.

Thanks for helping ease my disney depression (two weeks and it's still hitting me hard) and getting me excited for the cruise! I have a feeling it's going to go by super fast! I don't even know where to begin!!!

Can't wait to hear about the rest of this report!

:cry: For being back! And yay for your next trip on the Magic!! :) You are going to love it!!

Yes, the pools will be open! In Alaska they were heated to the perfect temperature.

I prefer it on the Dream because I've seen the classic ships so many times, but this upgrade was great. It was really time for one and it is great! You're right, it's the original!

I did leave it on a chair. Hopefully no thieves who travel at the same time as myself are reading this. Lol. I always leave my camera on my chair at Castaway Cay or on a beach chair. It's always under something so it's not real obvious, and you better believe I am looking at it every few minutes, but I'm pretty trusting. Maybe too much so.

Love love love Andy's room!

It is going to go fast! We're already down to 12 months!

Oooooh....lovin' the pics, Tammy! Love that you got the creator of the AquaDunk ON the AquaDunk. Good work! Never too many funnel pics. When I saw the pics of Heather with the captain behind I was thinking "Oh watch her clock him...." Close! That was funny! Is it just me or are those high tables with stools precariously close to the kiddie play pool thing? Whoever is sitting there is pretty sure to get wet, huh? Hurry up and get to Carioca's already! I'm dying to see more of it and hear all about the service! Last September when Tracey & I were on the Fantasy we talked to a server we recognized from the Magic. We were talking about the new format for Carioca's and he said there was some ongoing debate as to the servers walking around the dining room with the skewers of meats and potential sharp objects. In rough seas.......! Ya know?

Again, your pics are fabulous. Totally lovin' it! Now let's see if you get done before you start your next adventure!

I thought that was cool too! Hah!

I can't even tell you how close she was to clocking him. What I wouldn't give for a video. :)

The Aqua Lab is wet all over! I felt in danger of getting wet anytime we were anywhere near it!!

Carioca's tonight hopefully! I'm going to finish!

Never thought about the skewers, that's pretty funny!

Thank you, Siobhan! :) Soon. We will be there soon. :)

Your pictures of the Magic are making me want to go again! I loved that ship

Thank you, Joanna! :)

Dinner time! We were so excited to try the new Carioca’s. What else could Brazilian mean besides meat on a stick?

We’re here!

Some of our table mates were at Palo, but Disneyjoe and fam were there!

Sadly, meat on a stick wasn’t on our menu!! I’ve heard it has been since though. We may have missed it, but we looked!

So we made up for it by getting multiple appetizers and entrees.

Then our last night turned even more fun! We walked by the clubs and saw DisneyJoe inside Keys. It was packed!

We went in to say hi and ended up staying for a few hours. We talked to Joe, we met several other people, and we talked to Ricky Brigante from Inside the Magic (he was inside the Magic!) for quite a while. We had a great time. :)

It was very late when we left the club and we went to the lobby hoping it was quiet and we could get some non-people pictures.

But someone beat us there – Scott from the Disney Cruise Line Blog! We had met him earlier on the cruise and we started chatting. He had his tripod out and was already taking pictures of a mostly empty lobby.

So what else could we do but join in? Chandelier! It has its own charm, it’s just not my favorite.

So I took like 400 pictures that night. I won’t post them all. But I will post a lot!
:)

Wow! What a whirlwind last night!

No meat on the sticks??? Whyyyyy?!?? I wanted to hear about that part! Grrr!!!!

I really liked your atrium pics. Very good with the textures and angles. The "chandelier" shots from the higher vantage point makes the new installation make more sense to me. The former chandelier was so big and hung down kinda far. I think something not as tall allows better vantage points from the higher perspective. Still, I think they could've done a little better and created something more inspiring with a wider girth while still being lower in profile. Just me. But I do see maybe what they were going for.

I'm so impressed at your late night stamina. I'd be downright frightening in every way with so little sleep. :)

Thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it! Thank you!

And....YOU DID IT!!!!! Finished before Aulani!!!!

Man, I really need to get myself on a Disney cruise ship! Great pictures! The food looks nom! And I have to agree, not a big fan of the chandelier. Can I be your adopted child and go to all these magical places with you?? I'm well behaved, I promise! :D

It was a crazy last night!

I know! We were sad! I think we had some of the same meats, they just hadn't worked out the sticks yet!

Oh I definitely think they were going for a much shorter chandelier. The old chandelier hung really low for the size of the atrium. It definitely blocked the views from higher levels.

I'm not normally someone who stays up that late, but we had so little time onboard! Sleep was a big waste of it! :)

I did it!!! Woo hoo!! Next vacation time!

You do, MorganInWonderland! Okay, you can join the family! :)

Awesome report and pictures. You really spend the time and effort to get those pictures great job. Did anyone ever say anything to you for laying on the ground taking pictures? Thanks for sharing that wonderful trip with us.

Woohoo, great report, Tammy! :D

I love all of those empty lobby/3AM shots. I'm with you on the chandelier, but you make it look good with your photos. And I really like how the ceiling design sort of extends out from the chandelier, if that makes any sense. The "behind the scenes" photos you guys took of one another trying to get the perfect angle are great. :D

Have a wonderful trip!!

AMAZING lobby pics! And glad to see you, Heather and Scott were laying down. Now I won't feel so weird when I do it on the Fantasy in November! Not that I would feel weird anyway.... lol

OK, speaking of weird, THIS is going to sound weird but... for some reason, the chandelier reminds me of a cow! Don't ask why, cause I dunno!! I just feel like the white base is the belly and the chandeliers are... well, you know, those things on the underside of a cows belly where the milk comes from.... (Don't know if it's a wdwmagic appropriate word!) Ahhhh, it's so strange but that's what I think of! hahaha

Earl of Sandwich!!!! Glad to know it's in the Miami airport! There is one in the Boston airport but we always miss lunch time there! We do have one in Boston though and we've gone there a couple times since last summer. You just can't beat Earl! :)

They did not. :) There was hardly anyone in the lobby and we weren't in anyone's way, I promise!

Thank you, Shannon!

It does make sense! Totally!

I love the behind the scenes photos. :)

So the chandelier isn't so bad when you look at it from underneath...

Great report Tammy!

There are some pretty angles to be sure.

Thanks for reading! :)

We were totally laying down. Don't be embarrassed! :)

A cow. That's so hilarious!!!

There is one! Not in Heather and Missy's terminal, I was lucky!
