Trip Report More Fun than I ever Imagined on the Re-Imagined Magic!

It’s time for a trip report on the brand new Disney Magic!! Okay not-quite-as-new-as-if-I’d-written-this-report-in-October Disney Magic!

Sorry. I’m only a couple of trips behind now at least! :D

Who: Myself, Heather and Missy! Here’s our (bad) phone selfie!

What: The inaugural sailing of the reimagined Disney Magic. It actually wasn’t supposed to be the inaugural sailing but the inaugural sailing was cancelled due to damage the ship sustained when crossing the ocean. I hated that for those booked, but I was not sad to be the first ones onboard!

Where: A two night cruise to nowhere out of Miami! Short and sweet. Our motto was no time for sleep! We could sleep when we got home.

Wow! What a whirlwind last night!

No meat on the sticks??? Whyyyyy?!?? I wanted to hear about that part! Grrr!!!!

I really liked your atrium pics. Very good with the textures and angles. The "chandelier" shots from the higher vantage point makes the new installation make more sense to me. The former chandelier was so big and hung down kinda far. I think something not as tall allows better vantage points from the higher perspective. Still, I think they could've done a little better and created something more inspiring with a wider girth while still being lower in profile. Just me. But I do see maybe what they were going for.

I'm so impressed at your late night stamina. I'd be downright frightening in every way with so little sleep. :)

Thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it! Thank you!

And....YOU DID IT!!!!! Finished before Aulani!!!!

Baby, I am gonna MAKE YOU STAY UP LATE in September and we are GONNA DANCE. That is all.

Tammy, I love love love all your photos from your last night on the ship. It's like secret photog time. Despite your extremely high quality photos, I cannot love the new chandelier. :(

It was great to see @DisneyJoe and his family, I met them at Epcot's 30th anniversary.

I still want to get to sail on the Magic...someday. Enjoying your report!!

Be right back, going to book a Disney Cruise.:D But really, this trip report is excellent and of course, the photos are exceptional as always.

I have to say, the only disappointing aspect of the reimagining is the new chandelier(s). I really liked Chihuly's funky masterpiece, but I read that it wasn't loved by all and was quite difficult to clean. Oh well, the ship looks fabulous regardless!

One day you will, I'm sure!

Lol! That cracked me up!

Yes, the old one was gorgeous! I loved it. But wow did it move in high seas!

Thanks for reading! :)

wow, what a report!

I'm surprised your camera didn't spontaneously combust after taking so many photos of the lobby ;)

My camera is used to periods of insane over use. :)

I was excited to see that you had finished it but it makes me a little sad when you are all done. Thankfully we should be seeing an Aulani report in the not too distant future. Thanks for sharing your adventure, awesome pictures as usual :)

The prints of your photos

You goto a kiosk to lookup your location.. and there is a binder that has all your photos in it. Each binder is different staterooms' photos, etc
That sure does beat my old way of wandering around staring at better pictures of photogenic people until I stumble upon myself.

Great mini report. I've never been on a cruise, and the only cruise I would want to go on would be a Disney cruise!
What I don't get though, is why it is so quiet? Most of your pictures don't have anyone else on at all. Most of the pictures I see of Disney cruises are empty! Do they just not get full or do you just avoid the crowds?

Well thank you for reading, Angie! Yes. Aulani is coming! :)

I will start it right now - "I stepped off the plane and into paradise..."

Lol

Disney cruises are amazing!

There are quiet times onboard and busy times! The atrium right before dinner and the pools on a sunny sea day are both pretty crowded! But you can find quiet places for sure. :)

Have not been here long but .... you are all insane and i mean that in the best possible way.

I love the photos and stories. i have never had the desire to go on a boat but this looked amazing in this thread.

Kudos to putting it all out here to share.
I have done WDW and DLC several times each but now i am gonna have to schedule one of these trips.

Thanks for spreading the fever!

Definitely going through withdrawals (still)! Trying to figure out a way to swing a 5 night on the Magic next May and still be able to do our 9 day WDW trip with my cousin and his wife next year as well.[/QUOTE]

I had zero desire to ever step foot on a ship ever. I couldn't imagine anything on a ship that could be as interesting or engaging as the Disney parks & resorts. Then I saw @Disneyfalcon 's crazy cool pics of the Disney Dream when she did the preview cruise in early 2011. I was interested. All those cool Disney details and beautiful environments I saw in her pictures definitely were things I wanted to see for myself. So, we booked a 3-night cruise to dip our toes in the water. That was 7 Disney cruises (+1 Royal Caribbean cruise) ago. And, I currently have 3 cruises booked thru the end of 2015. If you love Disney details, if you have a soft spot for all things "magical", or if you deeply appreciate mind-melting service I totally recommend Disney cruising.

This is one of the main things I love about cruising in general: even if a ship sells out completely there's still only a set number of people there with you. Going a step further, what Disney has done so brilliantly on the ships I've been on to date (Magic, Dream, & Fantasy) is create spaces all over the ship that spread the guests out well. It's really not that hard to get great pics with nobody else in them. There's times/places onboard where people will all congregate and crowds happen. The wonderful thing is if you don't want to be in the crowd, walk away. Done. That simple. It's not complicated and you don't have to carefully orchestrate how to out-smart the crowds. Disney cruising is all the wonderful pixie-dusted fun of the parks, nostalgia galore!, but packaged in a far more laid back, easy-going, uncomplicated way. I *love* it. Going back to parks is brutal now. LOL!

Well that made me laugh out loud. We are a little insane. :)

You will definitely have to try it! You won't regret it!

It's hard to imagine if you haven't done it! I'm so glad I helped get you addicted. :)

Yes. All of this.

Yep now sweet-pee_1993 and Disneyfalcon have done it.

I am gonna have to figure out time to take a cruise...or two

As an art teacher i am a detail freak and i know it so this sounds like everybit of what i would enjoy so it would be worth putting myself on a boat.

Thanks for lighting the fire!
