I leave Thursday for a 10 day trip to WDW. It looks like I really better savor everything I see and do. Even though I've been there dozens of times, it looks like this might be the last time I see a LOT of things for a looooooong time. :hammer:

I know it doesn't mean too much, but on the Disneyworld.com calendar, Illuminations is scheduled daily through April. I know it's all "subject to change," but Disney will probably have some angry people if they change that schedule to less shows.

I think I'm one of the few people who could live without nightly fireworks in every park. I agree that people seem to forget that it was a fairly recent addition to the parks.

A lot of people would be unhappy with no nightly show, but I don't think it would be the demise of the parks. People (after the ritual complaints, threats, and curses) would adjust their schedules accordingly.

Plus, MK has Spectro and DHS has Idol, while EPCOT has... well, Illuminations and not much else! They could do a cheepo laser loght show for a couple of minutes and bring the globe out without fireworks... Those cheap BLEEEEEEEEEEEEPS!

True...If ROE were to get cut, they could AT LEAST do a globe/laser/fountain show akin to Laserphonic Fantasy or even the original IllumiNations.

Dark days a coming.

Stay home
There be squalls ahead?

Dead men tell no tales?

I've got news for you...I wouldn't adjust my schedule for this! I usually don't get to take a normal vacation unlike many others, so I have spend my time wisely. And even though I enjoy EPCOT for it's level of "different" attractions and (more importantly) it's obvious lack of ankle-biters, I only stay in the park to see R.O.E. As a matter of fact, I make that a priority everytime I visit the "World". Most times I see R.O.E. on multiple nights!

Now, true losing R.O.E. a few nights a week or even totally ( ) wouldn't be the demise of the park, I do think it would make a sizable dent in a number of areas such as gate receipts, food & bev., and so on. I'm guessing that the bean counters know better and that this is just one of those nasty rumors ( crossed fingers ).

While losing a nightly show may be bad for visitors only at the World for one or two nights, rotating the nightly shows among the various parks MIGHT make smart financial sense if attendance is predicted to be abysmal in the coming year. It would drive traffic to one park each afternoon/evening, which would be appropriately staffed, while the others run on essentially skeleton crews. IF it comes to pass that nightly shows are rotated on different nights that is a sign projections are way, way down, so much so that they believe even a nightly show won't make enough of a difference in other revenues to warrant performing it. Remember, Disneyland runs without nightly entertainment part of the year, and back in the day, even used to close some days entirely.

I really don't see the fuzz... In the past, Illumminations only was 3 nights a week...

I guess it is all a matter of perspective. There are certainly bigger problems in the world than cutbacks in entertainment.

But this is a Disney parks discussion forum, so it is a big deal in this little corner of the world wide web.

Why is this news for me? I was just making a statement that I think if changes come, the general population will have to adjust their schedules. I don't like the porspect of cuts in shows and hours any more or less than anyone else. I'm just trying to examine the situation diplomatically.

I would have to check, but I am 98% sure that is incorrect.

I believe Illuminations has always been nightly since the first show debuted in 1988.

Earlier shows such as A New World Fantasy and LaserPhonic Fantasy didn't always run nightly, but I am pretty sure Illuminations always has.
