Monorail Expansion Discussion

Well, it would explain why this is in the by laws of the Saratoga Springs contract for DVC owners of that resort, it specifically mentions monorail right of way and had this Disney created image with it.

Well, it would explain why this is in the by laws of the Saratoga Springs contract for DVC owners of that resort, it specifically mentions monorail right of way and had this Disney created image with it.

And it really speaks to a time when Disney had a coherent plan and thought big, Imagine what a monorail link would have done for DTD and SSR instead of being a retail afterthought and the least popular DVC location they would have been tightly integrated into the fabric of the parks and SSR would be one of the most popular resorts.

And when I hear the monorail would cost a 'million dollars a mile or 5 million dollars per mile' compare that to the 1+ BILLION plus just blown on NGE

My head hurts just thinking about it...

For some reason the first two pages got lost - but you should still be able to get the gist of the discussion.

By the way, I took a good look at the EC construction photos and found footers all over EC. I'm not going to post and try to show where they are - I've been down that road before. Trying to explain where they're at with grainy images to people who's already made up their minds is like... I'm not going there. I just want to know why spent all that money and time and effort putting these things in only to not go through with it. I found out that they keep making plans, updating those plans, and they keep studying it, while denying they're doing these things, but construction never ever makes it that far. What are the reasons? Cost? Fear of terrorism? Indecisiveness? Budget priorities?
For what it's worth Peter, I have been aware for many years that at the time that Epcot was built they intended to expand the monorail and it was fairly certain that they did put in some footers for future use. I don't think that they felt that it was going to be too long before they used them. Perhaps to connect the Epcot resorts to Epcot or future expansions. But all that doesn't really matter because it is obvious that they have no intention of expanding it for may obvious reasons. Breakdowns are nightmares. Even if they don't happen often, even once will cause massive problems. So if you find them, uncover them and photograph them, it isn't going to change anything. So it is just fun to kid you about it and ask that you take all that energy and funnel it to something that could actually happen.

Thank you.

Now can I ask why?
Why is the footer there (if indeed it is)?
Why does he care?
Why is he willing to get banned just to prove it exists?

And where the heck would this single footer lead? I have no idea how far apart these things need to be placed, but wouldn't this be a case of - if there's one, there are dozens? I guess they could have one secret footing somewhere, but surely dozens could not remain hidden. If so, this just seems to be too big of a mystery not to have been leaked decades ago.
He's not just pulling our leg, right? At least, he sounds legit to me, in a Twilight Zone kind of way.

having just joined this thread, allow me to ask..."What's a Footer?"

There is a concrete pad in my flowerbed that was the base of a gazebo that never got built (or it could just be the northernmost footing for the unbuilt monorail that was planned to connect our area to Epcot. It seems a bit small for that, but I can't really tell from the satellite imagery). There is a small fountain there now and the rest is covered by mulch. You could come take a picture of it if you would like, but you'll need to rake away the mulch then put the mulch back when finished.

Why not just hire a $300 an hour vip tour guide, and ask them to show you? they already drive you through/take you through a lot of the backstage area, and Disney is usually pretty good with sharing "secrets" as long as you pay them! :p

It's actually several hundred million per mile...
These numbers that people love to spout off have nothing to do with disney world. These projects are built through busy cities on property owned by several different (in some cases competing) parties.

Truth be told no one on this forum knows the real price and if they do they are lying, delusional, or someone who is really in the know.

Let me begin by stating that I'm an insider. A big insider. Being such, I have big information on this, shall we call it, monorailgate. I have acquired information that I dare say will rock the WDWMAGIC world. Ladies and gentlemen, I present big, insider, recently acquired photographic evidence of the equipment secretly manufactured and readied by the WDW Corporation for a monorail expansion. Footers included.
