Mommy, why did they tear down Mickey Mouses house?

And can we please not forget that Mickey's Birthdayland/Starland/Toontown Fair is a TEMPORARY land that is over 20 years old now? It's honestly about time.
I was just thinking about that. I remember seeing Birthdayland when I was 7 years old. I enjoyed it, but even then I could tell it wasn't on par with the "real" lands and assumed it would go away when the 60th was over.

Yeah, after reading all the posts, my two cents is the Magic Kingdom has been up and running a long time prior to Toontown, so wether or not Mickey's house or any of the other character's houses are represented, they're obviously still going to be in the park, so it's really not that big a deal. (It's not like they got evicted, just because Fantasyland's getting expanded!):lookaroun

Tell them his house got repo'd and he is working the 3rd shift as well as the 2 day shifts so he has no need for a home anyway now the economy is down the toilet. Or tell them he became a cross dresser and is now a princess. Or tell them he lives in the clouds with Walt. Or Stich killed him. Or tell them what you want they are your kids and you should know what will not upset them and what they will belive.

Heading for the great escape.
Simply tell the child that Mickeys dead, old age, and that his greedy family sold the plot to unscrupulous property developers who are using it to build a venue where men can stare at fantasy women.

When the child crys, give it a slap and tell it to get on eating the turkey leg.

Problem solved.

I always think it's funny whenever someone poses the question of "what are parents supposed to tell their kids?". Don't most parents know how to communicate with their own kids??

No. No, they don't.:)

Some parents simply avoid or enable rather than communicate.

We could start an entire thread on examples of this seen in WDW:)

Taken from the report in the Orlando Sentinel...

To accommodate the expansion, Disney will raze most of Mickey's Toontown Fair, the smallest of the Magic Kingdom's "lands." Gone will be both of the walk-through country houses where guests were guaranteed to meet Disney's most famous characters: Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Disney says Mickey and Minnie will get new homes near the front entrance of the park.

So they are not being displaced, they are just moving

Maybe since they're possibly moving Aladdin's Magic Carpets to become a Dumbo spinner that's where they'll put Mickey's new house.

Otherwise it will be Mickey's Condo at Bay Lake Tower. Come see Mickey's best kept secret, kids!

My daughter LOVES Mickey and Minnie's houses, it is one of her top things she likes to do when we are at WDW- MK. I do hope they relocate them or some how incorporate them some where within the Kingdom. If not I am sure she will get over it and survive. After all we all have with all the changes over the years????

I support this. I just read an update from the Walt Disney World Facebook page and it says this;
Disney Imagineers, who design rides and attractions, said the Toon Town attraction would be dismantled and its popular Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse houses relocated to another section of Walt Disney World.

Here is the link. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/note.php?note_id=136190598163&ref=nf

Let's not forget about Star Tours either! At least that should be done way before Fantasyland so we have something else to look forward to.

Thats alittle harsh! I am assuming you do not have children and if you do....I will be praying for them. Considering they have a parent that is all knowing in every situation that comes along.

Looking at your profile picture, I see you are dressed as Snow White. If your daughter shares your love of princesses, I suspect that once she has experienced what sounds to be some fairly immersive meet and greets with all the ladies, she won't give a hoot where Mickey's house is any more.

I am single and without kids and have never spent much time in Toontown Fair other than to check out Minnie Moo the cow years ago, but this really sounds like it is much needed and way past time. Kids went to WDW for many years and there was never a Mickey or Minnie house, so it should be ok. and if they relocate it, then everyone should be happy and I would bet that it would wind up being enhanced over what is there now and even better for the wee folk.

As I said earlier, tell her he is on safari at Animal Kingdom. Pick out a random space over one of the shops on Main Street and tell her that he moved "uptown" and got new digs so that he could be closer to all the wonderful shopping options Main Street has to offer these days! LOL

If they "have a parent that is all knowing in every situation that comes along".... then why would it be necessary to "pray for them"? :hammer:
