Its apparently over your head.

No offense, I love you madly.

Jimmy Thick- In a manly kind of way.

Oh no...I realize what I just did. I'm a fool.

Everything being said, and like Jerry Springer, here are my final thoughts.

MM+ is the future, like it or not, billions spent whatever. There is more to it than data mining and people tracking or limiting your fastpasses. This is not a blunder by people who work hard to make billions. Billions. People can say whatever they want and deserve to be heard, but to think Disney will go this route and fail its implementation is a far cry from what Walt himself would do. The magic is there, MM+ will be celebrated.

Its easy to knock Disney, but just as easy to knock Comcast. ;)

Take care of yourself, and each other.

Jimmy Thick- Coming soon, Wdwmagic-Too hot for the internet!!!

One Little Spark...
It depends on wiring. If a house has antiquated wiring with 100mb cable there is a good chance they are getting only 5-7mb downloads, which is fine for television. You can get the same 100mb from satellite and get twice that which would be noticeable, and in a lot of cases significantly cheaper. I use Charter and family has Dish, apples and oranges.

Precise, detailed examples don't mean anything to people who just want a faster connection, all it takes is one example to hook millions. The only saving grace Comcast has is the drat of people having to change providers and the hassle it can be, otherwise, if its cheaper with a same performance band, money in pocket beats money out of it with the same performance.

Jimmy Thick- 200 bucks for Comcast with overage fees? 100 bucks for a Dish without? Choice is obvious.
Where the heck are you paying $200 bucks for Comcast INTERNET?

englanddg - Pulling numbers out of nether regions without clarifications of what services are being paid for specifically means the final conclusions smell...

Satellite internet? What is this 1999? How fast is the upload on that dial up modem for satellite internet? If you were talking 3G/4G hotspot that is different....

Google satellite download speeds.

Jimmy Thick- Pretty easy huh?

Ok, I did this. Here is a page that shows plans from 5 major satellite providers:

http://www.bestsatelliteproviders.com/satellite-internet-providers/

Only one matches Comcast's download speed of 25 MBps and you have to pay a hefty premium to get that. Worse are the bandwidth caps, highest seems to be 30GB a month. If you are going to use satellite to stream HD video, which is where this whole conversation started, that cap could be a serious limitation. Comcast's basic internet plan (which also gets you some TV) is $69.95 after promotional period. There are satellite plans that cost less, but for less service. The top level plans are more the $69.96 and still don't give you the same bandwidth and speed as Comcast.

Actually Comcast DOES have a triple play package with a 105 MB internet feed at the $199 pricing tier,

Now how many bits you can actually push up and down the pipe is far less than that, People confuse 'signalling rate' or link speed with bandwidth which describes how much you can actually use. CIR (Committed Information Rate) is the most important number as it describes the minimum available 24x7, Frequently cable circuits are 0 CIR which means there is no bandwidth guarantee.

With respect to the bolded, I don't know where you got that from (unless you live in the sticks), but no. Just no.

Also, even with massive fiber enhancement projects in my local markets, Comcast has started to throttle non business subscribers.

I have 32 Comcast accounts, 30 Clear (Clearwire WIMAX) accounts, a 100 meg burst colo in the Datacenter of a major regional CLEC, 2 bonded T1's, 43 Sprint Wireless (21 of which are wireless hotspots or mobile laptops/tablets) and 4 Charter accounts that I manage (so you know where I'm coming from).

Yes comcast throttles and charges extra once you download 250GB of any type of content on non-Business connections, It's why I have a couple of GPON links from TDS feeding office/lab which pains my DBIL immensely because he works for Comcast but their circuit reliability is not good out here.

The worse thing about this discussion is that all we have to talk about is the merits of MM+. Is that something that needs to be discussed? Of course, its huge. It has changed the way we all will experience the parks. But none of us really know where it will be in say five years from now. Jimmy thinks it is going to be a game changer.....others think it will bomb. But none of us really know.

What is it that we absolutely know....right now....today? Avland is years away. DTD is a few years away. No one is really talking about Mine Coaster and Uni is building new attractions at this very minute.

One park is flat and the other is on the move. To say Comcast is ready to go under such as Enron is as ridicules as saying Disney will go under, and Jimmy you have really no more knowledge about the inner workings of Comcast then you do Disney.

Potter is as ingrained in our pop culture as many of Disney's IP's are. Its not going anywhere. As said there is more Potter coming. Jimmy my man new generations will find potter as new ones find Toy Story, Nemo and other IP's. Does the IP even matter? We have debated this issue over and over, it really comes down to execution of the attraction. With enough money you could build the worlds best attraction with a dated theme as Garfield if you wanted to. If Uni knocks Gringotts out of the park ( I honestly have no idea what a Gringott is) it will draw. People wont have to know the difference between a Harry Potter and a flower pot to enjoy an attraction.

Where MM+ is failing is that Disney is trying to make MM+ the experience, they are telling us that our experience is going to be so much better because we can get pre-booked FP's for dated attractions, attractions that do not need FP to begin with. I am not totally against MM+, what I am against is the sham that it is such a plus. If it was going to be so great you wouldn't need to educate your guest. Did Disney have to educate their guest when DLR opened Cars Land? No, they just opened the doors and the rest is history.

I don't care what anybody says, very few people are going to book a trip just because of MM+. I have a question for ya Jimmy. How many people do you think will book a WDW vacation just to experience MM+? How many will book a trip to WDW to experience HP 2.0?

Here's a funny thing. So, last trip I had a split stay. 1 day followed by a 7 day cruise then 10 days.

I just made some new reservations for May, and of course they are not linked (go figure) even though I was told they would automatically be linked (yep, still not there)...about to try and link them...

But, somehow, I have 2 1 day tickets still there...linked to my MDE account.

I shouldn't...because I know for a fact we used up our tickets!

How...odd...

Before you make any changes print them out, notarize them and have them countersigned in blood by the nearest disney representative. Barring that make sure you have your credit card company dispute number handy for when one of the to be linked reservations are lost!!

Guess LILO 3 years in still has issues with reservation links... How pathetic
