MM+ Why we can't have nice things.

I can't fault someone for steering people to WDW. Despite it's recent declines and price increases, it's still can be an enjoyable vacation especially if you get some good guidance before going. I still enjoy going to WDW and I would still encourage other to go also. I would also encourage them to check out Uni.

I agree with this. I know a lot of prospective on these pages indicates that WDW is terrible and a rip off of money, but I don't think that's fair or accurate at all. It may be boring and stale to frequent visitors, but for people who have not been as often -- and can afford the prices -- it is still a great place to visit. And for certain groups (esp people with young children and people who prefer slow moving/immersive rides over ones with higher thrills), it is tough to beat WDW as an option for a vacation.

I would agree with encourage people to check out Uni as well as visit WDW at this point in time. Both have a lot to offer guests.

So basically, you have no proof other than some supposed hearsay?

Ok, gotcha. ;)

Jimmy Thick- In a court of law, hearsay gets thrown out.

My point is, why even make that comment, knowing Disney would never release that kind of info? Pointless.

Just because Disney won't release that kind of info, it means it didn't happen? No.

Highly unlikely.

Comcast looks to be the biggest loser in the whole end of cable TV. Satellite internet is as fast yet significantly cheaper. Plus there are other companies destined to take over what Comcast already has, those things are already happening. Comcast's big push into theme parks could be a plan for survival, while its noteworthy, its still completely underwhelming in the face of titans such as Disney and in the event the fad audience leaves, Comcast will not have much left to go on.

All brokers of substance are saying to dump Comcast, that's the first sign of trouble, ask Enron.

That's a real comparison.

Jimmy Thick- Think maybe Disney knows what they are doing here taking it slow and letting the chips fall? MM+ is such a genius move, too bad people don't see it.
With respect to the bolded, I don't know where you got that from (unless you live in the sticks), but no. Just no.

Also, even with massive fiber enhancement projects in my local markets, Comcast has started to throttle non business subscribers.

I have 32 Comcast accounts, 30 Clear (Clearwire WIMAX) accounts, a 100 meg burst colo in the Datacenter of a major regional CLEC, 2 bonded T1's, 43 Sprint Wireless (21 of which are wireless hotspots or mobile laptops/tablets) and 4 Charter accounts that I manage (so you know where I'm coming from).

It means it would have been industry news.

Haven't heard about it.

Jimmy Thick- Sorry.

Here's a funny thing. So, last trip I had a split stay. 1 day followed by a 7 day cruise then 10 days.

I just made some new reservations for May, and of course they are not linked (go figure) even though I was told they would automatically be linked (yep, still not there)...about to try and link them...

But, somehow, I have 2 1 day tickets still there...linked to my MDE account.

I shouldn't...because I know for a fact we used up our tickets!

How...odd...

And looking at some of the satellite provider packages it appears that they all have very low bandwidth caps, in the 20 to 30 GB a month range. Far cry from Comcast's 300GB a month.

Time Warner Cable and AT&T Uverse also charge broadband overage fees for their internet service....

It depends on wiring. If a house has antiquated wiring with 100mb cable there is a good chance they are getting only 5-7mb downloads, which is fine for television. You can get the same 100mb from satellite and get twice that which would be noticeable, and in a lot of cases significantly cheaper. I use Charter and family has Dish, apples and oranges.

Precise, detailed examples don't mean anything to people who just want a faster connection, all it takes is one example to hook millions. The only saving grace Comcast has is the drat of people having to change providers and the hassle it can be, otherwise, if its cheaper with a same performance band, money in pocket beats money out of it with the same performance.

Jimmy Thick- 200 bucks for Comcast with overage fees? 100 bucks for a Dish without? Choice is obvious.

Again, you haven't heard about it because they'd never release information of that nature.

If it really happened Wall Street would have found out. Don't kid yourself, Wall Street finds out about everything before everyone else and that would be stock effecting news.

Jimmy Thick- Am I the only person who reads the Wall Street Journal?

Still curious about your proof that satellite internet is significantly cheaper than standard broadband. Is it possible that you just randomly say things on this forum that have no basis in reality? I couldn't imagine...

The worse thing about this discussion is that all we have to talk about is the merits of MM+. Is that something that needs to be discussed? Of course, its huge. It has changed the way we all will experience the parks. But none of us really know where it will be in say five years from now. Jimmy thinks it is going to be a game changer.....others think it will bomb. But none of us really know.

What is it that we absolutely know....right now....today? Avland is years away. DTD is a few years away. No one is really talking about Mine Coaster and Uni is building new attractions at this very minute.

One park is flat and the other is on the move. To say Comcast is ready to go under such as Enron is as ridicules as saying Disney will go under, and Jimmy you have really no more knowledge about the inner workings of Comcast then you do Disney.

Potter is as ingrained in our pop culture as many of Disney's IP's are. Its not going anywhere. As said there is more Potter coming. Jimmy my man new generations will find potter as new ones find Toy Story, Nemo and other IP's. Does the IP even matter? We have debated this issue over and over, it really comes down to execution of the attraction. With enough money you could build the worlds best attraction with a dated theme as Garfield if you wanted to. If Uni knocks Gringotts out of the park ( I honestly have no idea what a Gringott is) it will draw. People wont have to know the difference between a Harry Potter and a flower pot to enjoy an attraction.

Where MM+ is failing is that Disney is trying to make MM+ the experience, they are telling us that our experience is going to be so much better because we can get pre-booked FP's for dated attractions, attractions that do not need FP to begin with. I am not totally against MM+, what I am against is the sham that it is such a plus. If it was going to be so great you wouldn't need to educate your guest. Did Disney have to educate their guest when DLR opened Cars Land? No, they just opened the doors and the rest is history.

I don't care what anybody says, very few people are going to book a trip just because of MM+. I have a question for ya Jimmy. How many people do you think will book a WDW vacation just to experience MM+? How many will book a trip to WDW to experience HP 2.0?
