No attraction would want to have an opening day on one of the busiest days of the year.

The park is already busy enough without that.

Doesn't mean Disney isn't stupid enough to do that.

The railing changes were talked about previously, it was presumed that they discovered some clearance issues from the coaster train coming around that curve.

Looks like the metal railing on the stairs was re-worked and bent outward as it reaches the bottom, so the tarp was probably just to shield the welding work from Guests.

Thanks. I read part of that earlier conversation on the changes but had dropped off too early to remember what was being changed.

No. Best guess (based on precedent with the Anna & Elsa M/G) is that FP+ for it will become available the same day WDW officially announces an opening date for 7DMT...

It has been over two and a half years. I guess that's considered plenty of time.

I just realised. Horizons was built quicker.

As we get closer and closer I wonder if we will get to see the Dwarfs out this summer near the attraction. It would be great to see them around the parks again besides in the parade. Even if they rotated them, they would be very popular meet and greet characters near the ride.

Scroll up a few posts. From some before/after pics it appears it's just to cover welding work as they alter the metal railing on the stairs next to the drop.

Seeing the jackhammer there, the tarp could also be to keep concrete dust blowing into the water and causing issues there by clouding the water and clogging up filters, etc.

That looks like a hammer drill not a jackhammer. Hammer drills are for drilling in concrete.

No but it does finally show up as a listed attraction on the official site, just no "available times" yet. Imagine it'll be a bit closer to the media event (a little over 3 weeks)/ once they have bugs worked out??

Something's up around this area. The Micechat update this week shows a lot of work going on for these railings. The weird part is that they supposedly checked the track with the rolling headstrike rig months ago when the track was first built. That's gotta be what's going on here right? Rebuilding the railing since it's too close to the track?

yes, or likely OSHA has changed their code and it has to be 4" further away from the track...
