Microsoft to be in the Odyssey at EPCOT?

While the concept of having a restaurant filled with surface tables amazes me and is very Epcot Center, the fact that the tables run ~10K each makes me doubt this will ever be a reality. What if someone spills a coke? Maybe they can be used to place orders on instead of regular seating, like Sheetz or something.

Either way, opening of Odyssey for regular use would be greatly appreciated. And while you are at it, get Apple in WoL too.

That would be amazing.

I doubt they'd pour that much money into a state of the art cutting edge table service venue into a structurally unsound building that they can simply leave alone and use for events like they are now though.
The real sinkhole of EPCOT...

It does get it's yearly check ups, though, right?:D And the bridge was just painted...

Just because it is not open to the general public doesn't mean it isn't being used or is needed.
It`s certainly needed, and needs to be open to the general public. Events still have the circus dome and the circus tent.

Nothing is unsound about Odyssey. It`s on legs - if it were dangerous you wouldn`t get within 50 yards of it.

I didn't say it was a good excuse...but that didn't stop them with Horizons.

Microsoft already has a very large sponsorship presence in the Home Of The Future at Disneyland's Tomorrowland. The whole exhibit is Microsoft, and they have that "table" thing on display there, among other home electronics concepts.

Microsoft is also starting a new Microsoft Store to go head to head with Apple Stores. The first Microsoft Store opens in a few months at The Shops at Mission Viejo, an OC shopping mall south of Disneyland a bit.

Obviously Microsoft is trying to reach out to consumers more via hip theme park exhibits and sleek new stores in upscale malls. It would make sense if their next step outside of Southern California would be as a sponsor of a snazzy new restaurant in Epcot.

Try This

I've gotten that on my Mac a few times in recent weeks, and always after I start it up...I know this is a thread drift, but what does it mean?:lookaroun

On a mac, when you see that screen at startup it is called a Kernel Panic. Best case scenario is that a system folder or directory was moved and it's unable to find what it needs. Worst cast is it's a hardware failure. Try this: resetting PRAM. Shut down your computer, then turn on the computer and immediately press and hold Command-Option-P-R until you hear the startup sound for the second time. Open System Preferences, click Startup Disk, and select your Mac OS X volume. Hopefully this helps you out. :) ... Sorry for the drift, gotta help a fellow mac user out.

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
Actually, the building the building is used quite a bit. I contains many important facilities and the kitchens are used all day. Special Events uses the front-of-house part quite a bit.
Just because it is not open to the general public doesn't mean it isn't being used or is needed.

Which makes another area once for guests... now useless to guests. Its useless to guests.

With the dumb dining plan.. this would be a very smart move at Epcot! I hope it happens!

Fits the spirit of EPCOT, and I would love to see Odyssey open to the general public again (it's location makes it stand out more than, say, WoL). But the average guest can't figure out the touchscreens in Pecos Bill's--this looks even more "complicated."

This is an awesome rumor, I really hope it happens! Ah, to eat in Odyssey...

Although, if I had my choice, I think I'd rather reopen Odyssey as a quick-service location, and place this new Microsoft restaurant in CommuniCore/Innoventions West. Give that ghastly character spot the boot and take over the space of Fountain View. It would have wonderful views of Innoventions Plaza (especially if they took out all of that CommuniClutter crap) and Future World West. More importantly, it would be a good nudge for the wayward pavilion back in the proper thematic direction of Science and Technology. I think if the original EPCOT Center planners had access to this technology, they would have designed Stargate and/or Sunrise Terrace in CommuniCore featuring this without a doubt... and it'd probably still be popular, too. (Although, I would guess that about WorldKey, too... oh, well) Doesn't hurt that they'd already had a touch screen fetish.

Ah, I agree in full....I would love to see Oddessey open again, and another restaurant in CCore could not hurt, especially when it has this sort of theme.

Another reason to love Mac's ... the genius bar. I guess PC owners have ... wait, PC owners don't have a genius bar. Thats a drag ....

I may have just started a war. :D
