What about paying some kind of attention to the Mayan culture? One of the most advanced civilizations on the planet for it's time. All I am saying is that world showcase is about education and entertainment and I do not find Donald Duck in a Mayan temple entertaining or educational. If you really want to teach people about different cultures, a mariachi band and three birds is not really going to do it. If Epcot wants to change it theme from edu/tainment to Magic Kingom Part 2, then so be it. Remember...THEY are the ones who decided to make the park educational to begin with so of course, thats what we expect when we go there, right? Or were they lying? Or did they change their minds? Maybe not enough money was generated from the educational guests...they must make much more money from toddlers and teenagers. Those of us who have a problem with it will certainly be free to watch old videos from our couches, which is what I will be doing. Believe me, I do not need to sit through it in person to see how awful the remake is, I saw quite enough from the video. I just think with some better planning and ideas they could have used their resources and come up with something a little smarter than dumping charactors from a 50 year old movie into the existing scenery. Lets give a bit more credit to the people of Mexico instead of treating them as only background extras in a Donald Duck film......

Umm.. they changed the scenery in the films. It now includes more of Mexico.

Only the water-skiing scene and the cliff divers are pretty much the same scene but with Donald. Everything else is new.

Unless you have proof otherwise, how do you know that this isn't what Mexico wanted?

I think you needed 3 more exclamation points to get your point across...

But seriously, really? You take the time to write Disney and complain about a ride that you saw on a video? That letter is probably either going to be put up on a wall and laughed at, or either thrown away immediately. Over react much?

Hahaha you wrote a letter... What about? Just that it's not a good representation of Mexico? Norway's Maelstrom is a boat ride where you get attacked by Trolls.

History Lesson:

Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros were actually animated, happy propaganda films whose sole purposes were to improve American relations with Central and South America. Donald, Jose, and Panchito were, in effect, American goodwill ambassadors to our southern friends; and I think they did a better job than any politician. :D

Thus, putting the Three Cabelleros into Mexico is simply an extension of what they've already done. I welcome the change.

Oh, come on.... the ride looks nice... when I read the first post, I thought the ride had been completely replaced by some kind of Donald Duck meet and greet, or TVs showing cartoons... What an over reaction!

By the way, Jose is not really Mexican, he's Brazilian, from Rio de Janeiro, and I'm sure some Brazilian people are going to complain about that. Some people are really proud of the "brazilian Disney character", and they don't like the fact that he often speaks Spanish, and not Portuguese. But well, Donald isn't Mexican either, and I think the Three Caballeros fit the Mexican pavillion pretty well.

And let us not forget, learning must always be boring.

You know, Disney works pretty hard to work in a lot of accuracy into thier attractions and movies so that not only are they entertaining, but also interesting and fun. I would much rather learn through original and engaging methods than having a teacher read to me. Cut Disney some slack, they are only trying to make learning fun for the children of the world, you'll thank them one day.

My point is that Epcot is entertaining and educational.

Please read posts before you reply.

p.s. I work for the Walt Disney Company...so I do cut them a lot of slack. :sohappy:

EDIT: Refer to my previous post that Dagger quoted above.^^ And if I come across as grouchy, I'm sorry. You're just the second person to get strangely argumentative over my "education" comment...

And then there is always Canada (my country's). We have an outdated movie that shows us skiing and playing hockey and all that winter crap. The CM's in our pavilion are all wearing lumber-jack jackets and they sell maple syrup and Eskimo stuff as Canadian souvenirs. Well I find it is odd that we are represented in that way and by those things, I'm not deeply offended or mad at Disney for it. I just feel that more effort could have been put into the Canadian showcase to show off our great country.

P.S. I can't remember the last time I saw a friend or family member (or anyone for that matter) even wear a lumber-jack jacket! Maybe in some 1980 era Canadian movies or something like that!

Watched the ride through video and I am disgusted. They have a beautiful pyramid and scenery and THAT'S the best they could come up with?? I wrote a letter to Disney, not that it matters much to them, but I just felt I had to say or do something.... If I were Mexican, I would be HIGHLY insulted by this ride...this is how Disney chose to portray Mexico? Oh gee, lets go into this ancient Mayan pyramid and see....CARTOONS????????? Donald Duck??????? Why Bother????????? What on Earth were they thinking??? Horrible, pathetic, sad. What is happening to Epcot? Why do they only want to attract thrill seekers and preschoolers now? It's really sad to see this happening.

so...you saw the video...not the ride itself....

they got rid of that annoying market scene, I'm happy. :animwink: It wouldn't take much to improve on that nap break.:snore: :snore: :snore: Now, can we get rid of the video at the end of the Norway ride?:hammer:

You mean someone actually stays to watch the video at the end of the Norway ride?
