I say give it a chance.I saw the video and from what I see it looks pretty good. As far as being offended as a Mexican I think the new attraction takes a whmsical look at tourism in Mexico.
Ive been to the real Mexico many times especially when I was stationed in Texas. The last time when I was active duty Air force I remember waking up one morning after a night of partying with a huge tatoo on my tush.:lookaroun

I know it has been a loooooong time since I was at Epcot, however, are not the various countries sponsored by that country, and I would make a guess that they do have a say in what attraction is presented in their area. I am sure that most of this ride was presented to them in some format prior to installation. If the sponsor of the attraction felt "HIGHLY insulted by this ride..." then it would not be installed as is.
Only Morocco is actually sponsored by that country. Most other pavilions are sponsored by private companies with a connection to the country represented.

Epcot's purpose is also to educate...

And let us not forget, learning must always be boring.

You know, Disney works pretty hard to work in a lot of accuracy into thier attractions and movies so that not only are they entertaining, but also interesting and fun. I would much rather learn through original and engaging methods than having a teacher read to me. Cut Disney some slack, they are only trying to make learning fun for the children of the world, you'll thank them one day.

Thank you Captain Hank. So obviously this Company that is Connected to Mexico is not going to let it be insulted by Disney.
Let it be. The next ride that is built or rehabed or thought of will insult someone else or tick them off because it isn't like the old one. If you don't like it don't ride it. There are plenty of other rides to enjoy.

I'm just impressed that we made it a full 1 day and 10 hours since opening without a complaint.

Saw this coming.

You cannot please everyone every time. End of story. Disney is out for the best interest of the parks and resorts and their marketability. If that doesn't thrill some people, no big loss, it will still prove to be a good decision on Disney's part overall.

And please, I hope nobody takes complete judgment of a ride through an internet video. We know through past experience that the videos around the internet cannot compare in any way to the actual experience. If they did compare, none of us would go to Disney anymore, just sit and watch Disney on our small LCD screens, as opposed to being in a complete 3D environment 360 degrees, with high quality music, depth, and sights. That's why we go to Disney, and no video can ever compare to that. Because Walt built Disneyland to be more than a movie, so let's remember that before people judge a new experiance on a small video.

*so hypnotizing*:lookaroun Isn't that the loading symbol for Firefox? I chose a different theme (actually its an IE theme and I love using it on Firefox) so I don't remember if that's from Firefox.
It's definately the Firefox Loading symbol. At first, I thought there was a picture waiting to be loaded or something....

As others have said, you can't judge an attraction through a video. Just from watching the video, though, it certainly does seem a lot more cheerful than what was there before.

In fact, I will defer to the great Len Testa, who on the WDW Today podcast put it best: El Rio del Tiempo should have been called, "El Rio del Boring."

Oh gee, lets go into this ancient Mayan pyramid and see....CARTOONS????????? Donald Duck??????? Why Bother????????? What on Earth were they thinking??? Horrible, pathetic, sad. What is happening to Epcot? Why do they only want to attract thrill seekers and preschoolers now? It's really sad to see this happening.

So...are you insinuating that only preschoolers like CARTOONS? Do cartoons somehow cheapen an attraction? Let's not forget that WDW wouldn't exist if several incredibly talented ADULTS hadn't LOVED and ENJOYED making CARTOONS way back in the 20's and 30's.

The ride was outdated and not well attended. It needed updating in a bad way.

But I can't believe you would write a letter after only watching a video. You must be one of those people.

I enjoy how you are complaining about storytelling using characters. What, exactly, do you think a Disney animated movie is? Its a story, usually one with a pretty profound moral, told with characters. Oh. What do you think a big portion of existing attractions in Disney parks are? The exact same thing. Would you rather have them treat everything like the Wonders of Life pavilion and let it all go so stale that by the time they close it, all the attractions are outdated and no one really cares if it is open or closed? Of course not.

Soarin is a thrill attraction now? Or is it for preschoolers? The Seas is a perfect mix of education and characters. There aren't that many people that don't like what they did with The Seas.

There are TWO thrill attractions in Epcot, which is less than every other park. Now, as far as "preschoolers", well, the pavilions have been around for a long time, besides Space, so I can't see that argument.

I think you are overreacting because of change, as many people on this site do, without even thinking about what you are saying.

Oooooooohhhhhhhhhh......IT'S ON!!!!
