Nice.......... Honestly, how can people who love Disney be so hateful to eachother?? I am absolutely shocked and very sad at your unkind words towards me.

He's dead-on right. Your letter probably was shredded. But it never hurts to voice an opinion. I think that changes are good, but you are entitled to yours!

Like it or not, this is a posting board and people are free to express their opinions...that's why it is here! Was I insulting YOU...um....NO. Why on earth would you react that way towards me? I have never met you and would have no reason to attack you personally no matter what you said about Disney. You of all people should be respecting a person's freedom of speech, right? Isn't that what you defend? Agree or disagree with a post but I wish you guys would not attack the poster on these boards, that is not right. And by the way, Disney called me today to thank me for my letter...they did not email...they actually took the time to call me. My letter did not end up in the trash. As I said in a previous post, business like when customers write because it provides them valuable feedback, good or bad.

Yes, I am signed up to defend everyone's right to free speech, but that doesn't mean I can't exercise my right to free speech and say that I think it's unbelievably absurd that you are so worked up about what you saw on a video. It's a ride, your supposed to be immersed in the experience. Every ride that I have been on, the videos don't even come close to doing justice to the rides. Now, when you ride the ride and if you still hate it, OK, I can respect that, but the truth remains that you're going on a rant about what you saw on a video, and you have not been on the ride.

Again, I'm not saying you don't have to right to go on your rant, and honestly, I respect everyone's opinion, I just couldn't possibly disagree with this more, which is why there was an overwhelming sense of sarcasm in my original post. With that, I still stand behind what I said, wasn't meant to be a personal attack, but I do think you are grotesquely over-reacting.

Can everybody please spend more time talking about the actual attraction, and less time talking about each other?

Thank you.
I know, I do like a little friendly debate, but some of these recent threads have gone too far to being personal attacks or even having an entire thread created for the single purpose of causing an argument.

Now back to the ride. I, after seeing the video, enjoyed the refurbishment and think that it was needed and is a success. The old version seemed IMHO to be a cheesy old commercial. It reminded me of a Mexico ad that they show around Boston which was really cheesy (anybody from the Boston area that watches a local channel knows what one I am talking about). The ride is now based on an (older) movie that took place in Mexico, not something that the imagineers came up while they were sleeping. An actual movie and it shows some of Mexico's more famous areas. If the old version had more than a 30 second wait then something was wrong with the ride (although I did like it). From what I heard from a description, you enter the new line from the outside. If this is true, then this must be expected to be a success.

Actually, Disney DOES care about what the public says...and they DO read the letters and take guests' thoughts and feelings into consideration. They don't ignore anybody, no matter what!

But still, in this case, I also very strongly disagree with Prince Andy's Mom.

The Gran Fiesta Tour is awesome and fun and a great overlay to the existing boat ride at Epcot's Mexico pavilion.

The point of the attraction/pavillion is to bring more attention to Mexico and generate more business for the Mexican tourism board, which the refurb has done better than the old ride has in the past decade.

I'm sorry but I do not see how chasing Donald through Mexico will make people want to visit Mexico more than the old ride.

I don't know--maybe people are dumb enough to think they can try the cliff diving like Donald and not smash their heads open?

And whomever called my post "flaming" (I can't be bothered to go back to look for the person's name) hasn't seen anything at these boards. I was stating MY personal opinion about Mexico and the ride. That's the problem here--if someone has a different opinion then it's "flaming"? I thought this was a discussion board not an "I agree" board.

If you haven't noticed, the beauty of the world rests on the wide diversity among people. But here diversity is not recognized....it's either "you agree with me or you are flaming me!" ....it's not even worth it. Carry on.

BTW--I'm with you PrinceAndy'sMom--100%.....be happy--at least you didn't get accused of flaming yet (LOL).

So I guess you never have an opinion about any movie you have ever watched because it was not YOU living it? Come on, that was lame.

PrinceAndysMom - You're entitled to your opinion and you've started a good discussion. However, I do agree with the posters that have indicated its hard to judge an attraction without actually going on it. Try watching a video of one of the other slow moving boat rides (Living with the Land, PotC, IaSW) and compare it to the actual experience of being on the ride. Its quite different. I have always enjoyed the Land boat ride, but seeing video from the interior of the greenhouse is quite different from actually being on the ride and gawking at the veggies. Who knows - maybe you'll go on Gran Fiesta and be blown away by the quality of the video and notice things about Mexican culture in the background of the scenes that you'll like. Of course, you may go on the ride and not want to edit a word of your OP, but I think you should give the ride a chance.

with the character connection, more people will go on the attraction (it has lines now, has not had lines for YEARS) and therefore the message will get to more people.....

I know it may be just some initial interest crowd, but there were NO LINES EVER. Now there are lines for that attraction. All I can say is Bravo to Disney for actually generating some interest in what was a pretty sleepy pavillion to those who didn't have the same connection to Rio as myself and others did.

I didn't realize that there was a problem here...maybe if you see it as a problem then maybe it's your problem.

Differences in opinions are not considered flaming. Being catergorically critical of the whole forum IS.

I know no one probably wants to read more on the topic, but after reading all the posts I just wanted to put in my two cents. I personally really liked the old attraction and I thought it was kitchy and a little informative which was entertaining. I haven't seen the new attraction and I probably won't for a couple of years because I won't be going to WDW again for a couple of years. When I do go back I'm looking forward to seeing the new ride and I'm pleased that Disney has given it a revamp instead of just shutting it down.

Now, the reason I'm not going back to WDW again for a few years is because I have decided to see the real world a little, why because of all the family vacations to WDW as a kid. Seeing EPCOT has inspired me to actually go and see the places that I saw recreated at EPCOT. If people are really concerned about their kids getting the wrong impression of a country based on an attraction at WDW then maybe they should save their vacation money and visit the real location. Beleive me I just got back from seeing Chichen Itza and the real Mayan pyramids and words can't describe the phenomenal feeling of seeing what the ancient Mayans built so long ago, and I might never had gone had the World Showcase not inspired me to want to see the real thing! Hopefully children and adults today going to EPCOT realize that the goal of the park is to entertain, educate and inspire guests to go and explore.

Well, Sherry, maybe someday, you'll change your mind and disagree with that flamer PrinceAndy'sMom.

BTW, this last post of yours also a flame.

I think that was uncalled for.

I've already requested once that everyone stay on topic here... I don't see a need to shut down the thread at this point but please be respectful in your discussion of the ride. That goes for everyone. Thanks.

 You mean the real thing was even better? Get out! In all seriousness, I think you've made some good points. It certainly puts things into perspective :)
