There was also a little known educational series made back in the very early 1980s that featured Figment.
It was a live-action, roughly cel animated mini series that were available to schools by request from the EPCOT Center Educational department.
In the Parks early days this department was tasked with targeting educators and grade schools with educational offerings related to EPCOT...such as these special films, printed manuals/ activity books, and even guided Park tours for school groups.
It was a brilliant marketing move really...as it helped promote the Park, and the serious educational value of what was touched on at the original EPCOT Center even before it fully opened to the public.
I have one episode of this rare animated show, the only one i know of that was openly shared some years ago with the fan community via a fan-made dvd.
*Would You Eat a Blue Potato?* is the title, and it featured a catchy opening title sequence and song with original Figment voice actor Billy Barty.
The animation was rough....Figment looked like a cross between today*s *My Little Pony* and cute-style Japanimation. Best way i could describe it.
Figment would frolic on live action sets with school-age children and have adventures in imaginative settings.
In the case of *..Blue Potato*, the theme was colors and how the effect your thought processes.
Not sure how many episodes of this educational series were made, yet to have come across a concise list.
I have often thought that trying a show similar to this concept today would work well.
If done properly, i am sure it would be a massive hit on PBS or even cable/pay tv.
There is SO much that can be done with these characters...Figment and Dreamfinder...outside of just a Theme Park experience.
For anyone who wants to see Would You Eat A Blue Potato...Here it is! Can you believe these were done in 1988...
And like you said there were many Educational films they did with the characters.
One with Mickey with Huey, Dewey & Louie for Playground Safety
One where Goofy goes to MCO
And another one with the odd combination of Figment and Peter Pan? It's called Reading Magic.. It's only a clip tho..
