Marvel coming to WDW?!?!

It was just conveyed to me that DLR Prez Michael Colglazier is very unhappy with me for spoiling the fun of his BIG MARVELous
news.

Finally, something to feel good about this week.
Does he know who you are personally (which I hope not, for your sake), or is it a generic anger along the lines of "some well-connected forum member named Spirit ruined my surprise plan to thematically ruin the ToT" ?

99% of people don't want to see this happen. Not just super fans. When it was trending on social media, the large majority of folks were appalled. The people have spoken. Why won't they listen and save money where they don't need to spend it? Just to sell a few more Marvel toys? Are kids even that into GOTG?

My votes for what to overlay go to Star Tours and Stitch's Great Escape.

Has anyone considered Gotg with test track?

No, not happening. In 2012, GM renewed their contract for, I believe, another 15 years. And with that renewal, they completely redid the ride. So they're surely wouldn't spend money on it again anytime soon, if that was even an option.

And you may disagree but I think that's a pretty terrible choice anyway.

Yes, kids are into GotG. So much so, that they got their own TV show on Disney XD. GotG is also popular among marvel fans, rock fans, and most adults in general. I still dont think ToT should leave though.

It should be noted that the animated series put together a new soundtrack, called the Cosmic Mix, which had a whole new assortment of classic rock songs, including Queen. It is very unusual for television animation to pony up the cash for licensed music in that fashion. Not completely unheard of (Disney XD also splurged for 9 to 5 to be used on Gravity Falls), but I think it shows that Disney does have faith in GotG as a brand at this point.

If I wanted to do anything at Epcot, and make it big and grand, I'd look at replacing the Innoventions buildings. Therefore, if Disney wants Guardians of the Galaxy at Epcot and make a splash, I'd expect them to do the same.

Dont forget that the Guardians have a sequel coming out next year, and are rumored to be teaming up with the Avengers sooner or later.;)

Please Oh Please replace Stitch's Great Mistake!!
And while they are at it....
Move Laugh Floor over to DHS where it belongs, and come up with some new fantastic and futuristic attractions for Tomorrowland...

They better rush this overlay through then. Arguably, once GotG join the Avengers movies, Disney can't use them in FL.

Disney legal has determined that there is no expiration date on using GOTG at WDW, even if the characters appear in Infinity War. If that weren't the case, they'd have to close the attraction after the movie opened as they'd then be in violation of contract.

So folks have killed pretty much everywhere/everything but Epcot. I'm assuming now that we might as well merge this thread with the changes coming to Epcot thread...

Oh I agree it's a terrible choice but I thought since the ride has so screens already and it seems Sci Fi- ish they could possibly make easy changes.

If Star Tours moves to SWL, maybe the old ST facility will get a Guardians overlay?

I wouldn't have a problem with that.

I'm not sure I follow. We are moving the Star Tours simulators to Star Wars Land but we're worried about the soundstage being repurposed?

Shouldn't he be unhappy that this is the best idea they have?
