Magic Kingdom Tree Massacre

Just dropping in to add my 2 cents.
Trees: Hub nees more.
I hate the barren hub. Hate it.
I'd far rather have a park-like setting in the hub/forecourt than gaurantee a perfect view of the fireworks. Trees > fireworks. To me, anyhow.
Tokyo's looks pretty good.

While we're at it, let's demolish that eyesore of a stage in front of the Castle.
Ugly stage. Stupid shows. Waste of space and time.

That is all....

So you want more greenery in MSUSA? You're contradicting yourself.
Always leave MSUSA out of the list of lands.

No, I don't.

That's because Tokyo's Hub is HUGE. They have the luxury of having BOTH pyro shows over the castle and large trees. It's perfect.

Agreed on the stage, though. No point to it.

I agree with removal of the stage and TDL hub looks great...though it is huge. From aerial photos, it appears that the TDL hub covers the same area as the whole MK hub, including the moat. HUGE.

The trees in town square maybe blocked the fireworks for a very small amount of people. The park is too barren. It needs more trees.
Take some from Epcot. It has a few (hundered) to go. Around Energy. And Life. And Land. And the lagoon....

Blame DLP. Despite having no castle stage, that hub was designed for sightlines all over the hub. And Tokyo... it has the room. TDLs hub is more than twice the size of Orlando. Makes up for the lack of green space in the city.

Tokyo's hub looks MASSIVE. To the point where it looks empty and souless. But I guess they need it since thier Main Street is covered.

For the most part. That arrangement near the SGE restrooms are a nice example.

Plus, it could work well in EPCOT also. :lookaroun

That seems wasteful. I mean, why have restrooms near Stitch's Great Escape, when you can just use Stitch's Great Escape as a restroom?

For the flowers, yes. The only nice shrubbery in TL, and it's right next to 'waste'. ;)

For the restrooms, well... :lookaroun

 Exactly. They just need to be trimmed up.

EE, I hate to pile on, but on this one I will (you can poison my lunch!)

You place things like optimal viewing a temporary pyro show over basic show quality, not to mention safety to some degree as shade is a very needed item in Central Florida.

You were never supposed to be able to see Cindy's Castle the way you can now, the Walmarted way. It wasn't supposed to overwhelm people, so much as beckon them to travel/explore further into the MK.

Making the castle a giant showpiece in Wishes is perhaps the show's biggest flaw (even worse than the syrupy score) because people feel they simply must be right in front. Gone are the days of viewing pyro from just outside the Mansion or Space Mountain. Operational issues are a continual issue with Steve's shows because he doesn't worry about the impact his shows will have on regular park functions. I love his work. He is incredibly talented, but this is ongoing. (WoC was just pushed back a second time in three months and I've been told that it wouldn't be surprising if the show doesn't debut until Memorial Day weekend with NO soft openings for guests ... TDA is already on damage control saying the big rain due in SoCal this week may delay things, but the reality is they're hoping for lots of rain because they haven't got the logistics down of handling all those APers who want to see the show, along with everyone else!)

Anyway, sorry for the tangent ... back to why EE needs to go hug a tree or two ...

Now, instead of a place to (again pardon the shameless pun) explore, Main Street is viewed as simply a road to travel as quickly as possible to get to that castle and the E-Tix (well, also to get folks to spend as much as possible on Disney crap, but that's for another post). Making the castle so imposing is a not-so-subtle hint to guests to get their arses off Main Street as there's nothing to see here, unless you're waiting for the fireworks.

For many, seeing Cindy's castle when entering the park is one of the best moments of the trip. And it maybe wasn't supposed to overwhelm people, but the fact is it always did with guests.

And what do you think the castle evokes... Stay away! Go home!...?

I'm sorry, but if I walk in to the Magic Kingdom I want to see the whole icon, not half. 74,if they did not want people to see the castle,it would not be there.

Although there are no trees the hub still appears lush and is one of the best hubs.

Then you know what you do? You'll love this, it's really easy...

You walk past the trees, or otherwise stand somewhere where you can see every precious square inch of the castle!
