Jt, I will proudly, and happily eat crow if 3 of those projects are confirmed and MK gets the cleaning/love it deserves.

In fact I promise I will dedicate a thread in you honor. You have my word.

Sounds good. Remember I am always watching and my lens never blinks.

I'm shutting down now.

About a year ago, everything was out of sync. To the point the ride shut down for 5 minutes, techs ran through etc. All of IoA was having a bad day.

Hm. Weird. I'm not doubting it didn't happen.

The only thing I remember having problems back in April was JP. Half the raptors weren't working and the big stego was behind a wall.

Knowing all these are on hold makes me sad panda.

Well, I'm kinda glad that we aren't getting TLM, Journey, etc. atm because I do not trust them to give us plussed or even complete versions of them until things change. I'd rather wait than have half-arsed attractions that guests will flock to and subsequent survey numbers will justify the cost cutting.

Yea I guess.

I just want something to get excited about. Because as you can see from my avatar/sig I'm pretty much only looking forward to an overhauled coaster at my Six Flags...

Which is going to be awesome. Fire, light, and water effects. With on board audio. Oh and a story and viral marketing game to go along with it. I'm pumped.

Buy a Congaloosh ticket...it's just 172 days away!

Sounds like a nice little overhaul. Viral marketing is fun! (see: Are you 23?)

I'm going back for another CP. I'm really considering it. I just need to figure out what my schedule will look like once I'm back down there.

Yea. The viral focuses on Lex Luthor's company winning the contract to overhaul Medusa at Great Adventure and Superman:Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England and his devious plot to bring about Bizarro(hence the name changes) to destroy Superman/the riders.

Anyway...back to Disney!:lookaroun

"A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing."-George Lucas

 Is that why I don't care for Star Wars, George? Or Blade Runner for that matter. (Where's my copy of Forbidden Planet or The Time Machine (1960) on blu-ray!)

I feel like I'm missing out on all the Wal-Mart stuff. You'd have to drive quite alot to find one where I live (we have a Hallmark and Best Buy within walking distance though). I've been to one a couple times before and thought it wasn't all that special.

Sure EE (when it worked) and TSMM are fun but that doesn't excuse the condition of Pirates, CoP, JII, ETR:UNM, and countless other resort offerings.

~What will I celebrate? Uh.....Hall of Presidents? If it's done right I mean. It won't make getting something to eat or shopping any more enjoyable at that park or change the parade, but, it'll have an Obamamatronic.~

Please make sure you calculate in the new and very well received stuff too. For examle, SSE ascent, post show, Kim Possible, HM refurb, the annual improvements to F&G, new Innoventions stuff, AIE, Pixar Place etc etc etc. And also, please factor in this is a slow time at WDW due to other priorities such as DCA's makeover.

You mean SSE getting your picture taken so you get to do a cheesy program on the way down so you don't notice all the black?

Annual improvements to F&G. I forgot, cutting entertainment is an improvement.

Kim Possible where it's so crowded/planned/managed poorly effects get spoiled by others doing the same or similar missions in a handful of countries instead of all.

I'm not saying any of these are bad things. They could all be so much more - just look at the refurb of the HM. They got that one right.

I do agree that the Haunted Mansion makeover was well done. In fact, I've been on every Mansion around the world and I'd have to say that we now have the best one, even better than Tokyo! That does make me happy since Mansion is in my top three favorite attractions. SSE was okay but a disappointment in the descent and transition to space. Kim Possible falls short in my opinion but I can at least give them kudos for introducing new technology that I have been pitching for a while now.

All this is way too little and too late. They have a lot of catching up to do in order to make up for 15 years. Of course of the latest round of attraction projects were not put on hold I probably wouldn't be posting all this. The Little Mermaid, MI, Indy ride, ST2 and 20K/Journey would be incredible steps in the right direction. Unfortunately I don't have the same confidence in Disney management that you do.

do you know if they put in a w/c car in the refurb, if not why not.

Have you seen crowds like those shown at TDL last week at MK, let alone on a regular basis? Have you say been there when Space Mountain had a three hour wait, Splash Mountain was at say two and a half hours, Mansion was at two hours, Pooh was two hours, BTMRR was 90 minutes, Pirates was at 60-70?

~What Will YOU Celebrate? DL in May!~

I've seen wait times like those at the MK. I've waited multiple hours for many rides at the Magic Kingdom. I remember waited 3 hours for Splash Mountain on many occasions. However, that was the good old days when MK was in its peak in the early 90's. Now most of these rides are minimal waits or walk-ons.

I think he's talking recently and that's the point. Almost no one has.

ok, I'll join the forray...

How many gates does Tokyo have vs. Orlando??

Tokyo = 2
WDW = 4 + 2 waterparks.

There is more room to spread a much larger crowd among the parks in Orlando vs Tokyo. If TDL gets crowded... there is one other gate to fall back on. WDW has 3 other options for its guests. So it makes a little sense that you don't see 3+ hours wait on anything during most of the year with the exception of Soarin.

Now as to why guests put up with standing in a 2+ hour standby cattle line for Soarin is beyond me...

It's great to hear my opinions posted by someone else. I love American Adventure. it's a great show!

In my opinion, AA is the finest stage show ever created for any theme park by far.

It's also something that would NEVER be created today by WDI. A long, expensive, AA-centric show that depicts the history of our great land.

Nope.

It's much easier to build an empty soundstage/warehouse type building and toss in a 2-3 minute thrill ride with plywood flats (RnRC) or a simulator (MS) or a drive in a convertible (TT).

I never miss AA on a WDW visit. Funny how shows like AA have legs and can go on indefinitely with just a little TLC and updating ...

It still baffles me how so many love Soarin' with its unrealistic film scratches and bare-bones queue and story. We've had Back To the Future for years. Just because you can dangle your feet here doesn't constitute an exciting new attraction. I do however love Goldsmith's score. That pretty much makes it for me. Everything else is rather average, especially if you wind up on one of the ends of the theater. Little things that never would have passed show quality years ago, such as guests casting shadows on the screen, have made it through.

I like Soarin, likely more than you, but I do agree with all your criticisms.
Ultimately, the big thrill is dangling your feet over a dirty print while the scents of orange/pine/sea (which for some 'odd' reason all seem like one scent) are sprayed on you.

Funny how just having things like fog, a wall/curtain between you and the screen, fades between scenes etc ... would have made the attraction better. But why bother? This is the pin lanyard, foamhead buffet, FP-loving crowd.

Midway Mania is sorely lacking in several areas. Some things are done okay and are passable but WDW used to be about straight A's, not C's.

The fact the crowds at TPFKaTD-MGMS are crazy for TSMM is something I blame on the fact there's so little to actually do at that park. And very few 'ride' type attractions. It is in no way worth waiting more than 20-30 minutes for.

I've never in my life waited three hours for a Disney attraction in hundreds and hundreds of visits to WDW, DL, DLP and HKDL.

There have been a few two-hour (or close) waits in my younger/dumber days.

But I don't recall seeing many days like the one at TDL depicted on Micechat at MK.

I admit the worst/most absurd waits I regularly see at WDW would be for Splash Mountain at MK, Soarin and TT at EPCOT and RnRC and TSMM at TPFKaTD-MGMS.

I'm just curious as to whether I'm missing something and others have seen days with Tokyo-like waits (and remember the waits showcased were for about 5-6 major attractions at the same point in time) at MK at any point in say the past decade.

~What Will YOU Celebrate? Never waiting more than 40 minutes for most attractions!~

OK ... you stumped me. Because I really don't know how I feel about what you're shoveling.

Sure, park-hopping is more prevalent in Orlando. That I agree with. But I am not sure how much of an affect it really has on queues on busy days. If people are into Space Mountain, Dumbo, Pirates, Princess meet and greets and lunch at Cindy's ... well, I don't see them headed to EPCOT to see Impressions De France, AA and SSE instead.

I'm sure it's a factor to some degree. But if Bob and Suzy Johnson and their brats, Brittany, Bryan and Brianna, from Indianapolis want to ride Splash Mountain, I don't see them saying 'Let's go ride Star Tours and see The MUppets at the Studios instead because these crowds are crazy!'

Now as to why guests put up with standing in a 2+ hour standby cattle line for Soarin is beyond me...

Because they are crazy.

I think the last thing the Magic Kingdom needs right now is more wear and tear being put on the attractions by these extended hours. With only a 4 hour downtime for several attractions' maintenance its really going to put its toll on a lot of attractions...especially Space Mountain. It will be very interesting to see how it will hold up for its last week of operation after being put through the rigger like this.
