Magic Kingdom Changes

There were fireworks at the studios when they first opened, I don't remember how many nights a week, but they did have them.
i belive it was during peak periods only as nearly all of the park closed before the show including the great movie ride for safety reasons. i worked at studios during summer 92, & had the privilge of staying out of the "fall out" areas & living with most of the park beling closed off until reedy creek or who ever inspected the whole area to make sure there were no "surprises" lying around. seems in other words, same as fantasy in the sky used to be, spring break, new yeras, summer, thanksgiving weekend & christmas week.

With the success of TSM, I gotta believe that their next area that they are going to develop will be the Pixar place...if the rumors are true, the Monsters, Inc. roller coaster will very high on the list. They have that great new area and only 1 ride...

I would hope they develop the area more and have more rides like TSM that everyone could go on. The one thing they had listed on the new maps was Woody's Cafe (or something like that) and I was disappointed to find out it was basically a drink cart.

That's not going to be well recieved by those on the board that are tired of all of the new Pixar attractions taking over the park...

I don't have any issues with the attention to Pixar, it's a smart business move for the company.

My issue is when are we going to see something new?! Something like Pirates / Haunted Mansion? Where is the ingenuity.

How will we ever get another horrible movie adaption like "Country Bears" if we don't have new rides and attractions like The Country Bear Jamboree?!

so i was getting ripped off the first 25 years of my life by not getting fireworks at night during NON PEAK seasons when i went to mk??? i wonder if i can get a refund for not getting all of the magic i shuold have...

well, a lady in GA just sued her finance for breaking up with her....AND WON.... I'd say you just might have yourself a case!!

Will you guys please stop overreacting?! It's not the end of the world!

So, take a whole bunch of deep breaths and chill out.

No, it's not the end of the world, but it is a bit frustrating. I think I'm speaking for the majority, but it's not just that people are upset about FFD and WCC leaving. For the most part, people don't too of feelings either way about them. BUT, it is just another thing to add to the list of nixings that we've found out about in the past month- PI closing, Liberty Tree losing characters, Garden Grill losing characters, Akershus possibly losing characters, Fant being cut 5 nights of the week, Backlot Tour closing, Pocahontas' show closing, and then now these two....?? And I feel like I'm maybe forgetting one more?? That's a lot of bad news for one month, and I think people are just upset about everything, not just that Cowboy Camp or Family Fun Day are going.....

Anything on Dream Along? Either way.
It's an awsome show!! However it opened with YOMD. Any Connection?

I've heard it's going as well..... but haven't heard anything that's confirmed.

Look who's back!!! Fresh with news from the World and inside stuff too. Great to see you Btw.

I hadn't heard about Akershaus getting cuts. I'm telling you, Entertainment is running around scared for their jobs. Did you notice that?

I didn't hear about Akerhus. I would be surprised if they do eliminate it.

I doubt Akershaus is going anywhere! And if it is they are just being moved to a restaruant somewhere else in Epcot. That Meal is popular but then again so was Liberty Tree so who knows?

It really is depressing to see all the cuts coming..This is the first I have heard about Akershus (although we wont go there anymore since they raised the price) and is Backlot tour closing for good or just temporary?

Akershaus price was raised because your photo is now included with the meal rather than having to choose to buy it. Oddly, I think we made more money when it was voluntary.

If there are cuts at Norway, it won't be removing the fact that it is a character breakfast, it will simply be having 4 characters instead of 5 or something like that. If I had to do the cuts, I would eliminate Cinderella and Belle and put in Ariel as the "photo op" character. It really should be that Cinderella is only at the MK or the Grand Floridian. Ariel right now is only in the Grotto in fins. Let her stay at Norway, but in a dress so those friends who look like Ariel, but don't have Ariel's stomach can wear the dress and be part of the fun.

Belle is everywhere, take her out for lunch and dinner. Leave Jasmine in, Leave Aurora in, Leave Snow White in, leave Ariel in. Leave Mary Poppins in for breakfast but not for lunch and dinner. But that isn't going to happen.

If they are in World Showcase during the day, they are at Norway for breakfast, except for Alice because she is out till 8:30 and all the other girls leave WSC at 6.

Once upon a time, Kevin Yee sugeested that Disney may cut direct bus service to both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Instead, all of those buses would be diverted to the TTC, where Guests would need to transfer to the appropriate monorail. It was only ever a rumor.

As for the topic at hand... I like the idea of having special entertainment in each land that merges together into one parade at the Hub. That concept could be very interesting.

There's never been direct bus service to MK, has there?

Thanks! and you too- what a random way to run into you! haha and ya I definitely see some layoffs coming for the ent. cast, but I think those with lower color codes are more worried than those with higher codes. More and more M&Gs are being linked to shows/parades, so I think those who aren't trained/trainable are the ones who are in danger. This is quite a catch twenty-two because while it is always sad to see people lose jobs (especially in this economy), I think that the hiring standard might start to go up. With ent cutting/cutting back some of their parades & shows, they can work with a smaller department. And obviously if there are less spots to fill, they can be pickier about who they hire. But I must stress that this is only my opinion, based on things I've heard and trends we're seeing....

I didn't hear about it while I was working or anything- I actually just read it on another thread here on the boards. I, too, would be very surprised to see it go. The only way I can see that happening is if they were planning on moving the princess breakfast elsewhere.

Out of curiosity- is that odyssey center building being used for much lately? I know there's a few things in there, but could they be moved to other locations? To me, if you're going to do a princess breakfast in Epcot, it seems more logical to do it in a neutral location....

I just heard from a bus driver who's sister goes and has her hair done by a women who is the second cousin three times removed of Iger, that the Magic Kingdom will be adopting a new schedule in an effort to cut costs.
In an effort to cut costs during this time of economic hardship the Magic Kingdom will be adopting these new policies.

Attractions:
Splash Mountain, and Pirates of the Carribean will alternate with Pirates of the Carribean running on a schedule of Tuesday-Thursday and Splash Mountain running Friday-Monday. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain will do the same. This way we do not have all major attractions running at one time and thereby cutting our costs.
Just Kidding :ROFLOL:Can you guys imagine what it would be like if they did this????
