Magic kingdom cast not happy

CPs are more passionate about their jobs than the majority of the full timers.
Absolutely correct.

Well I don't know what group you worked with...or if you even did, but until you have had my experience with CPs I would appreciate you not calling me ignorant or uninformed. It is easy for someone to come to Disney for a week and see a small part of what goes on on-stage...but when you live it 18+ hours a day you have a whole different experience.

Like me, a former CP and current cast member?

I was there in September and I didn't see that. Honestly I think you may be looking for the negative. If you look for negative on ANYTHING you will get negative. Honestly, it is the ecconomy as everyone else said.

In my experience the CPs are some of the best cast members. They tend to be energetic, friendly, and excited to be there.

Very true!

I guess I have had a whole different experience working with them. You should hear what they have to say about the guest when they come backstage.

But there is a difference between backstage and onstage. Just because they say something backstage, doesn't mean they act any differently onstage.

If anything, CPs pick up "negative attitudes" because they get there, full of excitment and ready to makes dreams come true, and then their first day are told "the realities" by some of the cranky FTers.

Why would we move, some of us from around the globe, to come to a job just to be cranky? We come, knowing full well we will be paid next to nothing, to work at our dream jobs.

Am I saying every CP is great? No. Am I saying every FT is great? No.

But to lump every CP into a group of "people who couldn[n't] care less about their job and are only there to party" (I am paraphrasing) isn't fair to me or any other CP who comes and works just as hard, for half the pay of what many people around them are making.

I didn't even waste my time reading through all the posts, I just wanted to mention that NEVER have I had this experience. Even in this economy, WDW remains to me, a world way from the real world. That includes the CMs in the parks. We've always had them go above and beyond to be helpful, with joy on their ends.

Now, as for the CMs who work at 407-W-DISNEY on weekends...that is a different situation...they aren't very pleasant in my experience.

Having been on both sides...CM almost 20 years ago and a guest almost every year since 1975 I know that occasionally things happen and CM's may be less than stellar but it is far fewer and far between than any other business or tourist destination I have ever encountered.

Cruise ships are also known for having superiour guest service, I have worked on those as well and the incidents of negativity towards guests happens WAYYYY more there

Personally I have never had a bad guest experience at Disney and of the few that I have witnessed, honestly the CM held back a lot more BECAUSE they were Disney trained. I have seen CM's called names, made fun of, told they were stupid, uneducated, losers etc etc. I have also seen CM's having fun with guests (note I said WITH, not at their expense) by having a little sparring match. Anyone who can read basic clues of personality traits knows when someone is joking.

I have had Americans purposely come up and ask the stupidest questions about Canada or try to get under my skin by coming up with every negitive stereotype in the book and throwing it in my face.

The ones that were doing it with a mean intent basically got ignored, offered only the basics of service and left to their own devices. Those who were obviously joking got some comments back and we laughed about it.

I had some bad days at work there...who doesn't...but I have never seen a CM give less than stellar service to a guests who is treating them with at least a minimal amount of respect so that's my plan for my visit in August.

It's worked so far

I have become silent on this matter because I am tired of everyone telling me what I do and do not hear and see. My experiances are not isolated by any means. I have witnessed all kinds of actions onstage and backstage and at this point I am tired of stating them and getting bashed for it. Everyone on this board wants to live in some fantasy world and think that everything at Disney is peaches and cream. I have news for you people...it is a job. While there are some who say "it's still so magical and I love being nice to guest"...those people are in denial and afraid to speak the truth. Like I said I am pretty much done with this, if anyone feels that it makes them feel better to bash me...have at it. I know what I see and hear.

I don't think anyone is telling you that haven't seen and heard poor behavior, just as you don't need to tell me what I choose to see and hear.

As for living in a fantasy world...you bet....why do you think I go to Disney??

If you consider people looking at the negative behavior as a minority, and choosing to ignore that and focus on the good bashing you, so be it, but I wouldn't take it that way.

Ohhhhhhhh, you've met every cast member and know just about everything. Right, forgot about that. Clearly your sweeping generalizations are waranted! Because you said so!!!

While there are some who say "it's still so magical and I love being nice to guest"...those people are in denial and afraid to speak the truth.
lolololololol

Right. We're afraid to speak the truth and say we enjoy doing a good job. We just work here because. . . .

I'm not sure why, but I'm sure that's because I'm in denial.

You're in denial.

I'm curious as to what give you the f-ing right to tell me what I know and what I don't know
By telling me I'm in denial, don't you tell me the same thing?

So basically by your statement you know everyone and everything then?
No, I don't. I have not yet made a sweeping generalization to cover a giant coorperation of which I am a small part.

I never once said that EVERY CM is unhappy...but the majority of the ones I know are and you can't tell me any different.
You're in denial if you don't think they all are. Apparently.

Hmmm...I didnt know your name was "those people". Did you see me say "Mansion Butler was in denial"

I'm one of those people, so what's your point?

This is pretty much the most useless comment I've ever seen because once again I never said the entire company like you state I did. You may want to get some reading glasses.
You can't rely on your majority workforce of CPs who could care less about being there and only want to party.
Yup, you're right. That doesn't look like a sweeping generalization. But then it's not like you tried to defend it instead of backing off of it. . .

Like I said before...I see what I see and I hear what I hear. When you wear my shows for a day you can tell me differently.
And that's isolated, but you act like it's not. You say the problem with the Magic Kingdom is CPs because they don't care about their jobs. That's not someone reporting what he sees and hears, that's someone taking a very large group and typecasting them (and I would argue incorrectly) based on just his personal experience.

The whole point of my original post was me telling everyone what I see and hear.
Saying "the problem with my area is our CPs right now" would be that. That's not what you said. Nice try.

Well my friend have fun with this thread...I'll remember next time not share any of my personal experiences of the real world with anyone on this board.
You haven't shared any of your personal experiences, but I'll thank you for not doing what you've done in this thread anymore and consider it mission accomplished.

Whats this...last word before a thread lock? And yes what I said was my personal experiences.
Nope, you typecast CPs and called them the problem with the Magic Kingdom. Which was insane.

And hilarious.

Oh, and you also said that anyone who actually claims they enjoy making sure guests have a good time is in denial.

Not to add fuel to the fire, but last time I was in Magic Kingdom the Cast Member running an ODV was honestly reading a map because he didn't know where anything was, I thought he might of been joking, until he honestly asked us if you get to Fantasyland that way...pointing towards Pirates and Splash Mountain.
