Wouldn't they still have to clean the outside of the Palace roof?
They do, but if your under a glass roof in florida and it is not air conditioned you will be much hotter than standing in the sun directly. Idk as bad as the roof is a glass roof wouldn’t really mix with the forest themeing, they need something that would help be more cohesive between fantasyland and tomorrowland.

Have you seen the one they have in Paris?

The roof of the teacups is done in an Art Nouveau style...it looks like something they would have had at a Crystal Palace in London for a world's fair or something. It kind of is a transition type to Tomorrowland too...because it is elegant and glass and that to me says "future". In a way.

If the glass roof is possible for the crystal palace, its possible for The Mad Tea Party. glass tinted blue and green to reflect sunlight away. Probably in the same context as UV tinted glasses. Keep it a bit dimmer, reflect more light away to prevent it from heating too much.

Glad to hear the Cups are getting a much needed refurb.
The grinding halt ( literally!) to the frivolous fun of spinning yourself silly is a real kill-joy. It will be nice to see what is the end result after the re-do.

Of course...a part of me will miss the old school, retro-ness of the ride. That might go bye-bye, but i do sincerely hope that the Doormouse will remain!
That little stoner NEEDS to keep popping out of that teapot !

They specifically make glass that reflects heat away while still allowing light to pass through. It's called low-E glass.

Did you not see the concept art of the new roof? It would have looked amazing. Still might.

I don't think you'll have to worry about the mouse.

I can't agree more with that! I thought that noise was half real, half made louder to make the other half not seem as dangerous or concerning...

So, how do the other teacups stop? Do they have the same screeching sound, or some other breaking system?

I'm still leaning on the side of the roof on this one despite the naysayers. The current roof is just blah and with the beauty of Fantasyland now, it doesn't fit at all. We shall see!

We will know pretty soon either way. If they are replacing the roof I would think the old one would start coming off very early in the refurb.

Depends on how all-out they go on the roof. If it's the full glass roof, then the old one would have to go right away. If it's a solid roof in the style of the glass design, it could just be installed on top of the current roof in a day or two.

The roof doesn't bother me that much. I would like them to fix the loud, sudden, grinding halt and perhaps allow the cups to spin a bit faster.

I live in California and we go to DL all the time. The cups at DL suck in comparison with MKs. If some people think that MK's spin slow, then they need to experience DL's, it's like night and day. You can barely spin DL's and they aren't protected from the elements neither, so I think the whole spinner system is probably rusted out or something underneath. And they make the same noise as well stopping, don't think that'll ever change.

I get MK's spinning so hard that people can't hold themselves upright and they're pinned to the back of the seats. Hell, I nearly made myself sick on them last month down there, gave myself a great migraine!
