I'm not sure what brake noise you mean, but I just solved the WDW CLUNK! noise. I now think it's not a bad sound effect, but is actually the brakes engaging on the turntable to make the cups stop spinning. Yikes!

The DL tea cups being older probably don't have a brake for the turntable or cups. Can you spin a tea cup before the ride starts in DL?

My gut says that they chose to wait to do this until all the other construction is done. Adding more walls and having even less open didn't sound good to me. For once it seems maybe TDO felt the same way.

Either that or they cancelled it because they've decided to build another hotel instead or another Starbucks location. But I digress... :D

No, you can't spin them before. And as the ride slows to a stop your cup stops spinning, but gradually as if a brake shoe was being applied beneath the turntable.

The current Disneyland teacups date from 1983. The WDW teacups date from 1971, with a roof built over them at some point later in the Nixon administration.

Busch Williamsburg you can spin while stopped. It always gets me at wdw when I'm cranking speed in it and clunk... Everyone is stacked on each other from the abrupt stop motion.

so happy to hear this is cxled! We're heading down on the 26th and this was my daughter's fave ride. She was planning on this being the first ride of the trip so happy we don't have to let her down now.

Meh, that doesn't sound like a new roof. Just that they will fix up the old one to stop leaks.

Agreed. Based on the dates RAXIP posted it definitely doesn't sound like enough time for a brand new roof, probably just sprucing up the roof that's there. Also, wasn't this roof just worked on in 2010?

A completely new roof could be done in the time frame RAXIP posted, including a glass one. Why they are doing it again is my question. A complete tear off two years ago, and now again? They half as- it the first time? Seems like more wasted money. we do it right the first time, because time is money.

Anybody else could do it in that time frame, but this is Disney we're talking about here ;)

All joking aside, I also wonder why they would be doing it again since it was just done in 2010. I do remember reading a rumor that the 2010 job was temporary, but that just seems odd to go through all of the work of stripping the roof down to the frame, putting on a temporary roof, just to redo the whole thing a few years later. Either way, if the rumor of the temporary roof is true, or if it was just a shoddy job, I have to agree with you. Why not just do it the first time?

Maybe someone else will be able to shed some more light on the subject.

They stripped the whole roof, and put new shingles on, which most have a 30 year warranty, so why waste the time and money just to redo it? It better be something amazing, not just throwing some thatch over the current roof. Know wonder prices have gone up. We keep going because we love the place, but dont raise prices just for your stupid planning and mistakes
