Just a guess. The roof that is on there now has always looked temporary, even though the major replacement was cut from the FLE budget long ago.

I remember you said the possible DLP style roof was dropped from the budget. The new roof that was installed in 2010 is basically the same material as the old roof which is a white TPO or EPDM material and they replaced any rotten decking in the process. It got a new paint job and I would have to assume it is permanent. That roof should be good for 20 years except for an occasion repaint.

I am surprised that when the roof was done that it was not just done in thatch to match some of the other attractions in FL or shingle style to match Cheshire Cafe.

OK, this is better. See the new roofing materials hanging over the edges and the white goo they are using to seal the new seams. We just used this on our school 2 years ago. It works so much better on pitches like this.

They just recovered the old roof. It's not entirely new.

Just so everyone is clear on how much was done to the roof...

Okie Dokie, splitting hairs here I see. You win.

No indeed Disney did not remove the superstructure. Then again when my house receives a new roof, I guess it then isn't a new roof either because they don't bring don't take the the superstructure of beams, frames, fascia off the house when they strip off the old roof and install a new one. When relators refer and list the age of the roof of my homes when we sold them, it wasn't the superstructure age that is listed it is what was placed upon the superstructure.

It's not entirely the same as a house roof and there is no need to be so hostile. It is pretty well known the last roof was a rush job. There were issues that couldn't wait and FLE could handle an extensive rehfurb. They may leave this roof, but in 2010, the plan was a quick fix until FLE had opened. Then the ride was supposed to go down for a lengthy refurb - which it is now doing. Things can change so we will see.

Interesting, I've never been called hostile before. It can be an old roof, it doesn't matter to me what you need to label it, I know what they did. I don't have the need to win the debate or enjoy the name calling aspect of posting. Old roof it is.:)

i was actually thinking about riding this in my jan trip. i guess not! as much as i love these type of rides, i can't but spin as hard as i can. it always takes me out of it for a while afterward. stomach can't handle it like when i was a teen. i guess its for the best. although that glass roof in DLP is just... WOW! it'd be pretty cool if that replaced the current roof

WDW's Teacups is so dim and ugly while, Disneyland Paris' is so bright and not ugly.

You realize you just compared Paris in the day time to Florida at night, right? Don't get me wrong, the Paris roof looks better but that's a horrible comparison.

I Know what they are going to do! They are going to cut down the ride so you go have a 1 minute ride! Don't you just love the cuts they are doing on these rides lately..:p

I doubt the glass Paris roof simply because it would get gross and might be potentially dangerous in Florida's hurricane weather. Also, I get the feeling we'd all be like really hot ants under a magnifying glass in the Florida sun under there. But this is good news, because the turntable really, really needs to be painted and something's gotta be done about the jerky brakes. I don't think the roof will play into the refurb at all; I'm pretty sure the Paris roof was planned, but we got a new permanent wooden one instead, probably because of environmental problems.

There are self-cleaning glass roofs, and the concept art for FLE clearly showed a Tea Cups ride with the DLP-style roof. And the glass would be tinted blue or green.

Clearly this is to move the Teacups north of the carousel and between the castle walls. Pixiedustmaker has forseen it.

Pixiedustmaker knows all. Pray to your dark lord, Pixiedustmaker. Tekeli-li! Tekeli-li!

Well, all I have to say to that is . . .

Maybe I should change my screen name to Pixiedustmaster.;)
