Nighttime lighting from underneath, maybe? Personally I think the lighting IS a little odd, considering he's a lamp.

It's because the camera exposed for the dusk sky rather than the lamp, so the light is slightly blown out (same with the other light to the left of Luxo). Even though he is a lamp, they need to light him a bit too, otherwise you wouldn't be able to see it at night.

Looks great. I will be down there in another week, so I look forward to seeing it in person.

And I agree with everyone. This is old-time Disney. Adding a new 'thing' that is not an attraction, will not be a game changer, will not get a ton of press, and is not an "essential" addition. It is just one of those small add-ons that make the guests experience even better. Just like the backstory of the rides or the hidden Mickeys or Remy at Epcot or the fountain behind the castle or the ant on the tree at AK, these back stories and add-ons are what no other park seems to take the time to do. I am happy to see a return to it in this...shows the Imagineers are having some fun again. And that is so important.

Can't wait to see this in motion. Thanks for the updates guys!

Also count me in as glad that our new Luxo isn't a giant (but obviously still quite large enough).

Fun,Fun,Fun.

If all goes as plan, look for my update coming to you at the turn of the tide....

(Turn of the Tide = Tuesday afternoon)

I'm pretty sure he was built by them, seeing as how they've been working and keeping him underwraps for such a long time.

Can't wait!:D

Be sure to pop in here if there is any breaking news...:lookaroun

Good post! I agree... these little details even get me excited! I know my kids will love to see the "Pixar lamp" and anything that puts a smile on their face is worth it!

Patiently waiting...

Wow, I'm surprised to see pics already up! Mr. Iger came to the park today to see it in action, and of course, it gave a surprise appearance yesterday.

It is supposedly still in testing mode though.

Do tell. Was he hanging around Stage 1 too? (I hope)
