Long Gone Food of the Past

My hubby's favorite is Elio's frozen pizza. I can't eat it, it upsets my system.

I'll bet McDonalds hamburgers tasted better at 39 cents than they do at a dollar. I preferred the McSteak to the McDLT (early 80's--that's when I worked at mickey-d's)

I remember the debut of Hi-C's Ecto Cooler--if I'm not mistaken, it was tied in to Ghostbusters. I also remember Smiley Face Cookies!

I remember with great fondness the Goofy bar. Ice Cream and caramel covered in milk chocolate, and there may be have been crunchies or something in the chocolate coating. They were heaven.

I miss Lemon Coolers--the powdered-sugar-covered cookies made by Sunshine.

I also miss Land o'Lakes Country Morning Blend. How they could think that the new "Fresh Buttery Taste" spread could replace it, I just don't know.

Arthur Treachers-SP?

anyone remember the old Carvel Commercials where Tom Carvel was doing the voice over and talked about Fudgy the whale in his 99 year old Phlem voice-?

Ok now Does anyone remember the Dunkin Donut commercials late 70s early 80s for Munchkins. Now I swear they had to be politically correct "small people" dressed like Ompa Loopa type costumes for the commercial.
Am I just insane or does anyone remember this?

what about the old McDonald Commercials"At McDonalds...We do it ALL for you"

I remember Arthur Treacher's fish & Chips! "The Meal You Cannot Make At Home!".
Anyone remember the original egg mcmuffin commercial sung to the tune of "Carolina"?
Nothing I mean Nothing Can beat an egg muffin in the morning.......(and yes I do remember all the words...)

little note about the Arthur Treacher thing----one year when Radio City Music Hall still had the Easter Show, my great Aunt who is now 101 (!) took my sister and I to NYC from LI to see it and the movie was Mary Poppins. When we got home to LI we ate at Arthur Treachers and my Aunt said "He was in Mary Poppins!" What a coincidence.

Does anyone remember the chocolate sandwich cookies called "FudgeTowns"? They were soooo good.
I also miss Chocolate Snaps, they were cookies made by Nabisco and they were small maybe the size of a silver dollar or so and they were crunchy. They came in small boxes like the size of animal cracker boxes that were brown and white and they used the cookie picture on the box and drew cat ears and whiskers on it.
*Does anyone remember the green milkshakes that McDonalds used to sell only around St.Patricks Day? I thought thay were gross but, my DH loved them because they tasted like mint.

FudgeTowns!
I was just thinking of those recently.
They were a thick cookie with lots of chocolate in the middle.
I used to poke the chocolate out of the center hole and eat that first. :lookaroun

Believe it or not that for a while Wal-Mart had the big 60 count store brand cookies-they had one cookie that was pretty close to Fudge Towns.

My most missed food of all time....Quincey's big fat yeast rolls with mushroom gravy.
Quincy's in Clermont was always a must when we'd visit my mom every summer. We even made her bring them up here when she'd fly up to visit. They were soooooooo good!

Also, anybody remember Hi-C "Ecto Cooler?"

It's still alive and kicking...just under a different name. The new name of "Ecto Cooler" is "Orange Tangergreen" (Same ingredients...the only difference is the clear "non-stain" coloring).

Ninja Turtle Pies!! Yum!! :slurp:

And Ecto Cooler... What memories. I used to drink it and think about how I wished I had Slimer as a friend...:lookaroun

Yes, I was a lonely lonely child

I LOVED the green milkshakes! They used to do them up till a few years ago around here... They weren't too minty, just enough to be refreshing... Where did they go??

Also, I miss how Trix used to be shaped like the actual fruit that they were supposed to taste like. Now they're just round balls... :(

thought I posted this earlier:

"Burger Chef and Jeff - We're hungry for fun, fun food!"

Burger Chef might not have had the greatest burgers, but their toys were the bomb!

The other thing you don't see much of these days - the candy cigarettes. Now THERE'S some fun for ya! How did the fake beer for tots not follow the lead?

I can't wait for Halloween - I'm going to munch down on a couple cartons of Pall Mall candy cigarettes . . .
