Little Mermaid at the Studios Rumor

It would not surprise me if they closed the show at some point, especially after the ride opens at MK in Fantasyland. Not so sure about a meet and greet though. They should put another show in there because there aren't enough attractions in the park as it is.

I would suggest a new or revise Lion King show.

And you would be wrong. They have the Festival of the Lion King in Animal Kingdom.

What would be great would be something original, or perhaps an Aladdin show.

How can a suggestion be wrong? You're a meany. I haven't been to WDW for a while so I didn't know about the Lion King show in AK. The Aladdin show would be a good choice.

I have my fingers crossed that they'll put a dark ride there. I'm not sure if the building's big enough, but I dream of Disney putting in some of the dark rides that were idealized for the Magic Kingdom at DHS. TLM is a good spot for a ride, in an area of the park (Animation Courtyard) that has no rides.

I would prefer it not become a part of Pixar Place. The Backlot Tour's fate is for Pixar, if rumors are true. I would prefer the Animation Courtyard focus more on Walt Disney Animation. TLM does need to go though. It's dated, has a new ride coming to MK, and in a spot that could be used for something truly amazing. I liked the show 10 years ago, but I think it's time for something new, and to be honest, DHS needs something new.

Putting a dark ride there fills at least two needs at once.

I know people who do those things and they're not equity... :lookaroun I just can't believe that Ariel is fully equity, because I have seen some pretty bad ones that were slightly painful to listen to.

Just to clarify the equity piece of everyone's conversation. My wife has been in entertainment at Disney for almost 10 years. She has been in equity shows, been an equity performer and just a good ol regular performer in parades and shows. If you have a speaking or singing part, you are 100% equity (they are unioned and this will NEVER change). Once you are given your equity card you will retain that card as long as you are in the show. Some performers come to Disney just to get their equity card so they can audition for equity only shows on broadway. Some pure performers with no speaking/singing are equity (castle show, Beauty and the Beast, ALL performers in Nemo on Stage). Entertainment folks in parades, shows, fur (any costumed non-face character) are non equity. And yes, equity performers are paid MUCH better than normal performers at Disney.

I hope this clarifies everything just a bit.

Even though my youngest LOVES Disney Junior, I would hope this isn't true. :\ It seems like HS has lots of places for M&G's according to the map I have...

Ding. Ding. Ding. This park needs Fantasyland-style darkrides (at least three or four of them). Maybe it would be a good place for live action and hybrid films (unlike the strictly animation DRs in Fantasyland) - Mary Poppins, Pete's Dragon, Roger Rabbit, Nightmare Before Christmas. Nice tame (cheap) C-ticket dark rides for kids.

MI already has a show in MK and based on the logic here there won't be another...anywhere.

My daughter LOVEs The Voyage of the Little Mermaid and we see it EVERY time we visit DHS (which I would roughly estimate at aver 400 times since 1995), and between that and Beauty and the Beast nearly every show (during the main part of the day) is full with the standby line filling in the last few seats...since the park opened. What DHS needs and should be giving us is more LIVE SHOWs (like bringing back Hunchback, and/or adding Aladdin), they have plenty of meet and greets. Maybe they could move TVotLMermaid to another/new building (I imagine that the water effects have done a number on that theater) to make more room for something else?

DHS has 6 permanent theater-based live shows (AI:E, TvotLM, BatB, IJESS, Disney Junior and LMA). Number-wise, that's plenty. DAK has three of those (FotLK, Nemo, Flights of Wonder). Epcot has zero (unless you count Turtle Talk), although there are a lot of street performances. MK has the castle forecourt show, and that's about it for live theater-based shows, unless you count MILF.

I think what DHS needs is family rides and kids attractions.

I believe there were licensing issues with Amy Adams that prohibit them from having Enchanted featured prominently in the parks.

Quoted for truth. And some Pixar dark rides would be fine as well. Monsters Inc. Ride and Go Seek looks great. And how a Muppet dark ride? And Roger Rabbit would fit in as well.

I heard the same. The Enchanted music is used at DLP (or was last year) for their fireworks show, and it worked very well as a score for that.

I doubt there is space for a dark ride, let alone structural integrity.

The theatre was originally built for the finale of the backstage tour in 1988. To up park capactiy, in late 1989 another theatre was built behind it for the tour, and the original used for Here Come the Muppets. It is purely an auditorium which would probably take more time and money to convert than a new build elsewhere. There is also addtional infrastructre from the studios days in close proximity (the post area springs to mind) that may or may not still be in use.

As for Sounds Dangerous being used for M&G, uh-uh. Bring it back to a stellar attraction. The park needs it. Send the M&G elsewhere.

Or, as long as you pay your dues to AEA. ( Speaking as an Ex-AEA Stage Manager who has shifted his career into another "branch" of theater .)
