Little Mermaid at MK

Could this ride be the one that was featured in the Little Mermaid DVD?
When I got my DVD, I remember in one of the special features there was a proposal for a ride that was not approved. Part of the proposal included a video of the ride from the rider's point of view. It was an awesome ride and I was disappointed that it had not been approved (at the time).

I hope TPTB changed their minds and this is the ride being built at DCA!!

Two big differences:

1) The ride in the video was about 4 minutes long. The DCA version will be 8 - 10 minutes long.

2) The ride in the video used a suspended "Peter-Pan" ride system. The DCA version will use an omnimover.

"It's a true omnimover that rotates there are concept drawings that clearly show the vehicles swiviling in different directions and the environment will be fully themed in all directions. Disney leaves the cheap stuff for WDW."

That's the truth. WDW's big sister DL has gotten a lot of attention the last few years and it looks that is only going to continue.

WDW on the other hand get a bland Main Street with a Wal mart mega Emporium, a copy of DCA's TSMM, a rumored bare minimum rehab and paint job for Space Mt (because Disney won't commit to anything else)......and well, oh a recycled DL parade to replace the 10 year old one at the MK. Oh, want - and 100's of new DVC timeshares. Magical times in Orlando!

I don't think so. I heard only the exterior would be much different. The ride should be pretty much the same.
That's what I have heard as well. Is it true that the DCA facade will be themed more towards an aquarium and the MK version will feature more of an Atlantica facade?

What's wrong with a copy of DCA's TSMM? If the ride is good... it's good! Who cares if it's a clone!?! I don't see why people get so upset if we get a clone of something? And of course, when we don't get a clone we complain b/c WDW is always getting the short end of the stick! Can "they" make us happy...!?!

Aren't we complaining now b/c our LM won't be as good as DL?

Al Lutz has pretty much implied that EVERYTHING at WDW is a watered-down version of DL's. Take his information with a grain of salt.

That's because for the most part, it's pretty much accurate.

The only real exception being Splash Mountain, and just recently the HM, since the refurb.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
However it's done, it's a great idea. A new E-Ticket to MK that's not based off of something new! I mean, I like new concepts as much as the next guy, but I also appreciate sticking to the classics.

I hope you are right and they eventually put the TDS version of 20K as part of the LM ocean themed "mini-land".

Doesnt the ole adage apply here... "If you are going to make one, go ahead and make two".

I mean, if they are going to make 1 big fat Ursala, why not fabricate 2 with the same molds.

This sounds great - in the video, with the suspended system, I loved the concept of going from land to under the sea. If this will be bigger, better and longer than the one on the video, I hope they bring it to MK too. It certainly warrants a trip to DCA!

Any chance we could see a trackless ride system for Little Mermaid?
Nope. As said though it`ll be a true, state of the art Omnimover.

The DVD version was the one designed for DLP and planned to be cloned in the MK.

I hope you are right and they eventually put the TDS version of 20K as part of the LM ocean themed "mini-land".
Nope. It won`t happen.

I hope so. It does seem to me that, with the notable exception of Animal Kingdom, that WDW has gotten the shorter end of the stick since after 1994.
No' after 94 Paul Pressler became President of Disneyland and ran it into the ground.

Yay! finally an old-fashioned dark ride that doesn't involve video screens! I love the Nemo dark ride, but I would love it full of animatronic fish instead. I have a feeling this ride will be awesome. It's about time this great movie gets some love!

Is it possible that Disney is waiting to see how successful the Little Mermaid ride is before installing the rumored Beauty and the Beast ride? How likely is it that BATB will see the light of day if returning to the classics appears to be a big hit?

I would have it in the Magic Kingdom.
