I think that is delusional... Animal Kingdom is a hybrid Zoo/Amusement Park... I don't think any one animal addition would boost their attendance like an actual attraction would. You can see pandas at many zoos all over the country...for a lot less money.

I don't know, DAK has the best faux habitats for their animals IMO. I think Disney could do a great job with a Panda habitat. I do like the National Zoo in DC, it is free after all, but the Panda habitat is pretty small.

It's not a question of whether or not they could do a beautiful panda exhibit...I am sure they could...I don't believe that it would actually drive attendance.

Sure it would. I could see it now. Early morning in the hotel room , parents tell children- ok kids where do you want to go today, there is MK, or we can see spider man and Harry Potter in Uni , oh and I heard Ak now has Pandas. Kids respond enthusiastically - pandas , we want to see pandas!!!

For most people, DAK is not the reason to visit Central Florida, Magic Kingdom is. When you're in Central Florida, Pandas can be a determining factor between visiting Animal Kingdom and not visiting Animal Kingdom.

Do I think Pandas would have the same effect as a $300 million attraction? Absolutely not, but I could easily see a 300K-500K attendance boost from Pandas.

The numbers are adjusting down... Pandas would just be another animal at the zoo.
again, not an attendance driver... And I like pandas... and I am sure they would do an amazing job on the Panda compound, but in the end it would not make or break a reason to go to Animal Kingdom... Sea World just put in an elaborate attraction to get people to look at the penguins they already had... This day and age calls for more than just an animal exhibit... It needs to be a 300 million dollar attraction to attract the public's attention.

while I am sure that is true for most people, some people are HUGE animal lovers and love seeing them. I am sure a New Panda exhibit at DAK would attract a few people to come check it out.

Big Zoo fan here but have yet to see a Panda in real life. None in my area (Illinois/Chicagoland)

A panda exhibit in Asia would easily increase attendance by 500K but most likely a lot more. Also, fyi, there are only 4 zoos in the US where you can see a panda (DC, San Diego, Memphis and Atlanta). An E-ticket would generate more people but I'm not sure how much higher. Pandas have an allure that no other live animal has for some reason.

Actually their Panda habitat is fairly large in my opinion. Unfortunately, they only use half of it right now since Tai Shan went to China. WDW would do an amazing job with Pandas and I would love to see it. Most likely in 2014/2015 after Disney Shanghai opens.
