Now, now...we don't know it's a religious thing.
Hope it's not. That would take all the fun out of the fight.

I am sitting here with a HUGE smile on my face.
Why?
All of the folks that are upset about a place that was so unDisney, its not funny.
Look into the history of the Golden Horseshoe show at Disneyland. Check out the Citizens of Hollywood at the Hollywood Studios or the Main Street Citizens. There are MANY examples of influences and influenced parts of Disney attractions that stem from the Adventurers Club (and the back story of Pleasure Island.)

If your post is directed at dancing in a club atmosphere, please refer to Date Night at Disneyland, Grad Nights, Night of Joy, etc.

If you post is directed at alcohol consumption please note that the old boss had spirits at Club 33 and lounges placed into initial Magic Kingdom Resorts. Heck, World Showcase is essentially dependant upon having wines and spirits from their origin countries.

So how is anything in Pleasure Island "unDisney" and specifically the Adventurers Club for that matter again? If anything the MARKETPLACE goes against Disney's core values - there's a Merry-Go-Round and Train Ride that I don't think the old boss would approve of.

If only there was a place people could drink and have fun without the kids around!...oh wait there are 2451 bars in the local orlando area!

Have fun, i'll be riding space mountain without hearing the annoying "i was so drunk or hey how did i get pregnant" lines and enjoying my ride!
When are you guys gonna understand if you want it to be a family fantasy world, then goodbye P.I. We all know how seedy and distguisting las vegas can be is that what you truly want?

And the adventurers club wasnt groundbreaking, basicaly its one step above a talent show at a jr high..and wouldn not make money anywhere but where it was.

Bahahaha.. This thread is getting funnier by the minute. I guess New Years Eve at Epcot is a "seedy" and unholy event with the drinks, music, and dancing! The Horror!

Wow...where to start with all the idiotic statements that have popped up all of a sudden.

Hardcard: Seriously, what's with the bad attitude? Is it just that much fun to ridicule things that people enjoy? Do you get a kick out of being that way?
I've grown seriously sick of having something that I enjoy, and am passionate about, be put down in this manner. It's totally pointless and mean spirited, and just reeks of looking for a fight. If I say that it is like insulting my family or friends, I am not kidding. I don't appreciate it...at all.

Wow.. really? I couldn't tell.. Honestly though, in a previous thread regarding AC, I told everyone I was backing off the 'screw AC' attitude.. I really did, and I really am...

#1. The picture was just a joke.. take it or leave it, I don't care.. It was simply a joke, and if you look at it in that context, you'll realize how funny it is, especially considering the fate of the galaxy palace theater.

#2. I am passionate about Disney World and the property as a whole, are my posts and my opinion less important than your own? Why? A Lot of people dislike the new plan for PI.. I happen to like it, and think that I as a father of 3, will get more use out of that part of the property now.. so if *I* appreciate the new move, but you don't.. That makes me evil? No, it makes you close minded.

#3. You have said time and time again, that if I didn't like the PI threads and the AC chatter to not read the threads.... Well, that goes both ways.. If you don't like my opinions, my view point, my contributions to reporting on new happenings in the parks, and my conversation.. Then don't read my posts.. Simple isn't it?

I didn't post the picture to start a war, it was posted as a joke.. To bring something fresh, and funny.. Sorry if it offended you, but perhaps you are being a bit hyper sensative over it.

^I'm going to have to say yes.

How bout these facts?

I spent every Thursday night, and almost every weekend at PI from January-May 2008. Never was there "gangs." Never were any of the female or male friends I was with were ever harassed by these "seedy" elements you like to talk about.

A good friend of mine works DTD security, and in the 4 months she worked there while PI was still operating, she was never called in to stop "seedy" elements from causing mischief.

How bout them facts?

How about these facts? I was sitting at table eating with my 3 daughters and my wife before PI closed and a 'Seedy' little SOB started simulating having intercourse with a pole right next to my table... complete with moaning, screaming, and verbal vulgarities.... Really, it was a great way for my daughters (ages 8,6,4) to spend their evening.

Your source may not have been called, but I damn sure did call security and several showed up...

Don't tell me it doesn't happen, because it happened to me.

Regardless of what you say, it attracted a crowd with behavior and morals that were the polar opposite of what Disney represents....

One instance! I'm sure something like that has never, ever happened in one of the parks!

I didn't say it never happened. But to say there was a huge plague of gangs an hooligans that descended upon PI every night is a gross overstatement.

Yeah, I may be a little over sensitive. I admit that.
Can't help it, though. It's like someone snuck into my house and stole something. It's a sick feeling knowing the AC is closed, really.

Having no kids, and a deep love for the AC theme (house decorated kinda like that, love of that time period, that music, that whole theme) it was like finding a little slice of heaven. Obviously, I can not see a better use for it. Hell, I'd rather spend 4 or 5 hours there than at Epcot. (Please, nobody toss a molotov cocktail...I know, I know...)

My main issue was just the needless bashing I felt. I don't care for many threads I see posted here, so I just skip over them. I don't bother to go in and post a negative comment. Just a pet peeve of mine.

Considering the fact that MILLIONS of people visit WDW every year.. relatively small sampling of WDW guests that visit this website.. If it was THAT rare of an occurance, odds would be AGAINST me having both experienced the issue AND be a user on this site..

Just saying, statistically, that means it happened (happens?) more frequently.. thats all...

for the record, this guy was with 8-12 other morons.

Why would you subject your children to a nightclub atmosphere ANYWHERE, much less at Disney.

You KNEW going in that you were entering into an adult entertainment district, albeit a Disney one.

If the over 21 rule had still been in effect, your children would have never been subjected to such.

Oh, and for the record, I found the picture humorous.

Yes, I'm sure it happened on occasion. But, again, I spent 5 months going to PI on weekends. I saw none of the degenerates.

And as a CM in the parks, I've seen guests do PLENTY of immature/inappropriate things like what you mentioned in your previous post. Especially at EPCOT.

I guess we should take out WS because it allows people to get drunk!

To be fair, we were not in PI, the morons came out of the PI area , though... Otherwise, I would agree with your post... Having said that, there IS and WAS no age restriction in the area at that time, and my kids were 3 of the hundreds there.. even if I had been in the PI club area, what was doing is considered ILLEGAL , regardless of the 'age' of the people around... IT's called LEWD behavior, and people are arrested for it all the time....So, you're opinion is that it's ok for a guy to scream "I'm gonna **** this pole!!" in the middle of ANY adult area? Surprise! It's NOT!

Honestly, I saw almost the exact thing in the park at Disneyland. In Tomorrowland. It happens.

Still, none of that ever was an even an issue before they opened up the island to everyone. That was the killer.
There were many options besides closing everything.

OK, so in reality, PI wasn't the cause, the "morons" could have gotten intoxicated in their hotel room, at home, in their car, at Epcot. My point being that these kind of people will be at DD regardless of the presence of PI.

Thats not what I am saying at all.. There was a group of college guys in front of us in line for Malestrom the other day.. They had obviously had too much to drink, but they were just having a good time.. no offending anyone...

I'm saying that drinking at the 'octoberfest' and going to a nightclub are two distinctly different things.. just like behaving responsibly is..

I NEVER said I thought PI was closing because of 'seedy' people.. I don't know if it did or not.. I said it was closing because it wasn't profitable.. and thats true.

Again, if folks want to bar hop.....go to Universal or Orlando.

As a former local, regular PI patron, that's exactly what I've been doing since PI closed, that is, bar hopping at City Walk (Universal) and the place just keeps getting better every weekend.

Having said that, I still miss PI and would probably go back if they ever re-opened the clubs.
