Too bad it wasn't cheerleaders, ooooo cat fight:ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

I might have thought that....but wasn't going to say it....:lookaroun:eek:

I have read here that it is really bad during Pop Warner time. I will never stay at the values during that time, it must be very bad if these three (I think I read that there were 3 teams) teams were tossed out. Maybe Disney should reconsider how many teams are allowed to participate? Or reconsider Pop Warner all together? I know one thing for sure...this is going to make all the teams going think about the kids they are taking and the expense of such a trip. If a team has kids on it who don't listen well and are prone to flying off the handle they should leave those kids behind or not go all together.

I think it is a privledge to play on a team and that is how it should be explained to the kids going, one bad apple CAN ruin the whole bunch. If my kids ever got kicked out of an event, and ruined a very expensive trip, and made the news....I don't have the words to express what would have happened.

I've got news for you....a lot of the groups are staying at moderates as well. I was at POR the weekend of the first, and there were at least three teams that I saw as well as a bunch of cheerleaders.

Had to wade through a pep rally in the main lobby when I was leaving as apparently the group had won their section or whatever...my teeth were grinding the whole way home.

As with any good news article....they conveniently left out a few small details...like as someone had said, the size of the fight, and while it eviction in the middle of the night seems harsh, they don't bother saying when the fight was...say if it happened at 6-7, then a 9:00 notice is as prompt as possible. You also have to do some confirmation of the event...who was actually involved, size of the groups, locations.....

The real sad part however is that the ones involved rarely have a clue and will never "get it".

I agree, I agree, I agree, I agree!

My niece and I just returned from staying at All Star Sports for 3 nights and hitting the parks for a day and a half.

Between the running on the balcony's at 1:30A or later (which woke me up), the yelling or screaming from all the "fun" they were having outside on the lawn, which woke me at 2:15A the next night - or the groups of parents sitting outside their rooms, whoop'n and holler'n while drinking (which I don't mind, just be a role model ya know!). I don't understand why they were up that late anyway.
If I were ever in a competition - we were in bed by 11 at the latest for the game/competition the next day.

It wasn't all that bad - but when it did get loud or "out of hand" - if you will - it's like they had no thought that there were other people around in the hotel. I did see security throw several of the kids/children out of the pool one night for horse play. And he came back every ten minutes asking if anyone was with that particular team - and if they were - he made them get out and head back to their room.

And talk about noisey in the food court...yeeeesh. You couldn't hear yourself ask for the chicken fingers!
Any manners they do have...a large portion of them left them at home. If my parents ever found out I had acted that way while I was away from home - I sure as heck would never be able to go again (let alone sit down for a week! haha).

Disney has to draw the line somewhere - and unfortunately - it came in the middle of the night. Regardless of who/when/where it was, they broke the rules and Disney followed through! I'm glad Disney didn't back down for this one!

I am glad that Disney handled it this way. The last thing I want when I am on vacation is a bunch of punks fighting at our resort. This is just another reason why I love Disney World so much. They try their best to keep the trouble makers under control and make the Resort as peaceful as possible.

Whenever my high school marching band traveled long distances, the director made it very, very clear that if anyone ever stepped a bit out of line, he'd personally escort the person in question to the airport and put them on the next available flight home at their parents' expense.

We never had any problems.

I'm glad management acted the way they did.

I'm really shocked Disney had the balls to do something like this. I really am. As a CM, I can tell you Disney is usually a little apprehensive about such things like this unless it is something REALLY bad (which in all fairness, it's not like these kids shot or raped someone). That said.... :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

Pop Warner sucks. Working at the Studios for two years in a row is not fun when these brats show up. Their parents are worse. Just the other night me and some coworkers were eating off property right by Downtown Disney and the whole restaurant was filled with teenybopper cheerleaders. They were running around, throwing food at each other, yelling, etc. Their parents were in a nearby booth and didn't even notice them. Luckily we're all college-aged folks who didn't really care but I bet a family who is on vacation or someone just trying to have a decent, quick dinner would be extremely ed.

Your marching band must have been an exception to the general rule that marching bands are usually unruly and violent. I mean, with all the spit valve fights, the wet-drumstick-in-the-ear gags, and the constant humiliating taunts like, "You call that a Sousaphone?!!!" It's amazing that your band never had any physical altercations.

For those who claim that evicting them in the middle of the night was rude, consider this:

If someone went into a park and was posing a threat to Cast and Guests and jumped on a character, would we let them have a few hours before any conquences would happen? No, extra time could have resulted in more problems, and Disney made the correct choice.

I don't have a problem with the immediate offenders being ejected. I am even fine with the families of those immediate offenders being ejected. The remaining families did not break any rules, nor did they pose any immediate threat.

It was more than rude--it was excessive.

Actions have consequences, both good and bad. Physical fights are never an acceptable way to resolve an issue. It's a liability for Disney if someone gets hurt on their property. I'm glad they sent these punks packing.

However, the contract they signed stated that this would happen, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that it did happen. They all represented an organization and a team, and the contract covered all of them as a whole, no individual treatment.

Thanks JimboJones123!

The fact is they were part of the group. Like it or not, there are rules and the rules were broken.

I've had the misfortune of staying at Pop Century about 5 times when the football tournament is going on. I wish I could be nice about it, but is sooooo obvious that there is little to no parental supervision going on. You have like 5 adults and 40 kids running amok and most of the time, there are no adults directly watching.

I have been lucky enough to be gone from the hotel each morning before the hoard starts to wake and gather. And then I guess they are all tied up for the most of the day with the tournament. And with the crowds at the parks being at their lowest, its such an attractive time to go to WDW...as long as you can avoid the Pop Warner hoodlums.

But watch out if you are unlucky enough to be at the park they all choose to go to come 3PM or so. UGH!!! Its like one minute its business as usual and then SNAP!, its an endless stream of kids running around screaming and acting like sailors who just returned from a 6 month tour of duty.

You can tell where they are from because they are all wearing their team shirts, etc. I've seen them spit on each other in line; spit on other park guests; try to trip park guests and then pretend it was an accident; sit on a bench and shoot spit balls as people go by; grab strollers that are sitting in front of a ride and proceed to run off with them as if they are racing each other; constantly cut in line of everyone else, every other word is the F-bomb, etc. And everytime, I can't find who is suppose to be watching them!

One place where they ALWAYS try to get ahead of you is Space Mountain. When you are going through that long queue area in the beginning, they will just try to run by you 10 to 12 at a time.

One time me and my wife were at MGM and at like 3PM, it just turned into a zoo. It was so bad, we had to leave and just get out of the place. It was great being back at the hotel for there was nobody there. But later that night, they ALL seem to decide it was time to swim.

So you now have about 10000 screaming kids in the Hippy Dippy pool with ZERO supervision. Why? Because all of the adults that are "watching" them are normally up at the bar.

Nothing like having a preferred room near the pool!!! you get to hear kids until AFTER 2AM screaming and carrying on!!!! And to top it off, you get the adults out there with coolers of beer they brought for the occasion.

I'm not about crapping on someone's good time and vacation. but I paid for this vacation, too! If you can't behave in a public place, then don't be in one unless you are able to take the consequences.

In a way, I'm SUPER GLAD WDW threw these clowns out. Its a small victory for me and my past experiences, but I know without a doubt it will do nothing to deter future problems with the Pop Warner tourny.

One thing we do have to realize here is that we are reacting to the "article" here and not the actual event. I've worked in journalism. All it takes is one or two quick soundbites to completely alter the story here. Sure a few parents may have said on the fly that they are upset at Disney for the handling of the situation.

Did the "article" go further in asking the parents how they felt about the kids actions?
No.
Did the "article" also poll the parents (sounds like maybe 100+ families)?
No.
We get the reaction that would make a better "story". That's all we know, a few parents felt they were treated unfairly.
Should they feel wrong for that. Not really. They may have said it after being probed and prodded by a producer or reporter. Sounds like a case of a good interviewer that knew what "story" they wanted to tell long before getting to the scene and getting ANY facts. Yeah, it happens. On most stories even. You get a snippit of the truth, and a mash of opinions tossed together that aren't the actual story at all or even taken out of context.

Take a step back to wonder what the actual "situation" may have been before we flame all parents of all 100 or so families involved. It is a very harsh punishment. I can't say myself if it is right or wrong. As somebody said earlier though, if the result is that this doesn't take place next year, they have accomplished that goal.

Asking the parents about the kids actions does nothing to forward this story, nor does polling the other parents int he group. This story was about Disney's enforcement of a policy and had nothing to do with the groups actions or there feelings on it.

How can you not say whether the punishment is right or wrong? The group in question had individuals involved in a fight which clearly violated Disney's standard agreement that all large groups visting Disney agree to abide by.

I disagree with you that it is a harsh punishement. It's not, it's the punishment Disney spelled out clearly in their policy. Now people are prodded to feel sympathy? That's a big part of the problem today, the media is always looking for excuses to justify poor behavior. Disney in this article is being portrayed as the bad guy by waking up families with their infants in the middle of the night and tossing them out on the streets. Fact is, individuals within these groups broke the rules and everyone in the group had to pay the price.

Finally, I don't thing anyone is flaming all 100 families, they're flaming the ones responsible.

Good Job Wdw

To the ones stating not all should have been kicked out just look at the policy thats states if one breaks the rules they all are kicked out. its a good rule because instead of picking one scapegoat they all are booted. I think this is excellent on disneys part. Pop Warner should be totally embarrassed and digusted that this happened and perhaps in the future will set there own rules for both parents and players. I wish Disney would inform them that they will no longer hold there event based on complaints and poor actions by both parents and players. The article also doesnt mention the vacationers who probably had there vacations ruined by these hoodlum and classless kids and non caring parent supervisiors. There the ones who should sue for there money back. Great Job Disney just another reason ill return again and again.

In the article a mom is complaining about the way it was handled by Disney officials handled it- specifically she complains about having to wake the babies up.

rather than be upset with those officials who were doing there job appropriately, she should be upset with the punks whom she is affiliated with for causing the situation.

Im wondering if those particular athletes were allowed to play in the game. I wouldnt be surprised.

whats with the pathetic parenting skills?!

The mother who was upset about her babies being woke up should have gone right to the punks who did this and beat there butts or made them load everyones luggage. But im sure this mom will say "Oh they were no trouble they were just kids being kids" No lady they were punks being punks . These kids have no class and it all starts with the parents. THey were probably laughing it up and not caring leading by classless examples. GOOD JOB DISNEY :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

Well to whomever said that just the ones that were involded in the incident should of been kicked out, I see your point. But, when these people signed this paper work sent to them by Disney it clearly stated what would happen if an incident such as this took place. So Disney was only doing what they said they would do if something happend, so they were just following their own rules. But to whomever said something about you can't choose your kids athletic team, and correct me if I am wrong here, I believe POP warner stuff is non-school related. Its like a compatitive cheerleading team or a soccer team that the YMCA has, it's for a certain age group but the people within that age group could be from 20 different schools, I think...
Neways this is kind of like when a freshman enters a college and they have to sign an honor code stating that they won't cheat, or steal, or drink or w/e on the school property. The code states that if they do this they will be ejected from this institution. Well Johnny and Mary Sue get caught drinking on campus one night and the dean kicks them out and they say they're going to sue. Well they have no case because it clearly outlines within this code that if this or this takes place they have to leave it's the same here...so these people have no case, I believe but there is a lawyer for every trial :lookaroun

Boy this is a really difficult situation, and it's not completely black and white. Imagine if you were a parent with well behaved kids that were part of the team and got woken from a deep sleep at 1am only to be told you had to leave the property.

Personally, I think having them leave first thing in the morning would have made more sense. If they managed to have everyone leave at 1am without any considerable difficulty, then they certainly could have let everyone sleep and then leave in the morning. I say this primarily because young kids were there too. At the very least they could have made just the parties directly involved with the fight leave and have the rest of the team leave in the morning.

As "harsh" as some may perceive what Disney did, I gotta hand it to WDW management for really sticking to their guns. There's a reason why it's generally peaceful on the property at all times. People tend to turn a deaf ear as to what needs to be done at times to keep it that way.

If more people were held accountable for their actions, situations like this wouldn't arise. Disney was right in sending the whole group home.

Waiting until morning may have been the "nice" thing to do, but middle of the night would seem to ensure that most of the people you want to kick out are indeed in their rooms. Less people to hunt down that way. Plus they said the incident happened in the evening, and Disney likely wanted them out ASAP before something else happened. 1am was probably the soonest Disney could get their stuff together and make it happen.
