Jungle Cruise movie

I don't exactly "follow" Dwayne Johnson like I do some other actors, but I'm pretty sure the only movie of his I haven't liked was The Scorpion King. I don't remember much about it other than I thought the effects were downright awful, so I'm pretty sure Dwayne Johnson himself wasn't the reason I disliked it. I've enjoyed every other movie he's been in that I've seen, and I'm REALLY looking forward to Jungle Cruise.

Jumanji was way better than I thought it was going to be - I was pleasantly surprised!

Here's a fun little thing...there's a house about 7 or 8 miles from mine that has (or at least used to have - I haven't been down that way in a long time) a tiger chasing a safari hunter up a tree - they're large, sort of very rough wood-carvings installed on a living tree, but I've always suspected that it was a nod to Jungle Cruise!

Solo made 392MM USD, so that's a pretty safe bet. Jumanji topped it by a little, but no other Dwayne Johnson film has come close.

The statements about Jumanji only topping Solo by a little and no other Dwayne Johnson film has come close are not accurate.

Worldwide

Solo made $392 million worldwide. Dwayne Johnson has at least 10 movies that have made more worldwide, including several (Jumanji being one) that dwarf the money that Solo made.

Here's the list of Dwayne Johnson movies that performed better worldwide than Solo's $392 million worldwide total:
  1. Furious 7 - $1.5 billion worldwide
  2. The Fate of the Furious - $1.2 billion worldwide
  3. Jumanji - $962 million worldwide
  4. Fast and Furious 6 - $788 million worldwide
  5. Moana - $643 milion worldwide
  6. Fast Five - $626 million worldwide
  7. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw - $588 million worldwide (released August 2nd)
  8. San Andreas - $437 million worldwide
  9. Mummy Returns - $433 million worldwide
  10. Rampage - $425 million worldwide
GI Joe Retaliation, which made $375 million worldwide in 2013 is also in the ballpark and might have also performed better if you were to adjust both movies' worldwide gross for inflation.

Domestic

Solo made only $213 million domestically. Dwayne Johnson has at least 5 movies that have performed better domestically than Solo:
  1. Jumanji - $404 milion domestically
  2. Furious 7 - $353 million domestically
  3. Moana - $248 million
  4. Fast and Furious 6 - $238 million domestically
  5. The Fate of the Furious - $226 million domestically
You could add these two older Dwayne Johnson movies to the list of movies that performed better domestically than Solo if you adjusted for inflation:
The Mummy Returns* (2001) - $321 million domestic adjusted for inflation.
Fast Five (2011) - $234 million domestic adjusted for inflation

*Though maybe a stretch to refer to this one as a "Dwayne Johnson film."

I like the Rock a lot, but there haven't been many movies of his that I've liked.

Funny - as I like the Rock a lot as well, but there haven't been many movies of his that I've even seen!

Mummy Returns (though not really a Rock movie)
Scorpion King (can barely remember it)
Walking Tall (which I had never even heard of, but caught it one weekend afternoon flipping channels when I was sick with the flu)
Central Intelligence (only the last 30 minutes or so)
Moana
And about 30 to 45 minutes of one of the Fast and Furious movies, though no idea which one.

I grew up watching WWF with Hulk Hogan, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Superfly Snuka, Junkyard Dog, the Hart Foundation, Bobby Heenan, etc., but grew out of it during my high school and college years. But then in the late 90s, I was running on the treadmill in the evenings, and one night, one of the WWF shows was on the TV, and I enjoyed and did better with my workout that night! So I started watching WWF again while on the treadmill during the time the Rock was one of the superstars. Thought he was one of the best sports-entertainment personalities there has ever been. Was happy to see his talent cross over into the broader entertainment industry. From all accounts, he seems like a very hard working, dedicated, and good guy. But his movies generally haven't been of the type that interest me.

So, if I get what you're saying, Dwayne Johnson should have played the young Han Solo.

If they plus up the ride to match the movie, it's gonna be booked solid for years.
Movie looks good but im scared to death... there are so many calls to the attraction that I could see us losing the classic attraction and be getting a far less campy version that what we have.

But that begs the question, non Disney fans, that are just theme parkers which would they prefer a ride based around this movie or a very dated campy present day
BTW JUNGLE CRUISE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES, but im also a Disney fanatic who loves the campy
