Political as in the right thing to do for the general / voting populous? Yes.
Political since it’s a decision made by politicians.
I suspect you won't agree with this but "the right thing to do for the general populous" is subjective.
Decisions have consequences. Each decision helps some and harms others. This is true for decisions made by anyone in a position of authority, whether they be a government official or in the private sector.
There now are plenty of science-based studies showing the harm of restrictions. There also are plenty of science-based studies showing the good done by restrictions.
Based on what I have read to-date, I believe that masks should be worn indoors until the death rate from COVID drops to a level than is comparable to what we experience every year from influenza. This includes at WDW where people walk in-and-outside all the time.
But it is safe for me to go to the park or beach and not wear a mask.
And schools should be open for learning (with masks and 3 feet of distancing).
This is what I think is the right thing to do.
This does not mean that I am "right".
And this does not mean this is what I thought was "right" 6 months ago.
I recognize that others have different opinions and I'm interested in hearing what they have to say. Specifically, I'm interested in the
reasoning behind their opinions. I like to believe I'm open-minded. My opinion changes as I receive new information. My opinion can be swayed by a good argument or new information.
The problem we run into are that people are locked into their positions and refuse to listen to anything that varies from their set views.
The reality is that
both sides have been
grossly wrong at times when it comes to COVID.
The problem with politics is that it doesn't allow you to admit that your side is wrong.
