I used to use that phrase before all of this and people used to laugh at me, haha!
Also I am not advocating for one administration over the other although I do have my preference I am just saying to think it wouldn't have ended up differently is delusional.

Most educated people know all about that.

So what are you doing about it then? Seems to be you are promoting completely counter-productive things. You can't say "We have to do everything to stop this virus" and then not care about how the already 9 million people a year who die of hunger worldwide are in a much worse position because so much of our resources that they depend on over here have been shut down or limited. I mean, I give up if people can't look past this whole idea that nothing matters more than avoiding a virus. It obviously is a horribly failed experiment.

Also I am not advocating for one administration over the other although I do have my preference I am just saying to think it wouldn't have ended up differently is delusional.

That is because Americans more than anyone have a strong base for people that remember how important their freedoms are. In Canada we've forgotten about that, as has much of the world.

Political as in the right thing to do for the general / voting populous? Yes.

Political since it’s a decision made by politicians.
I suspect you won't agree with this but "the right thing to do for the general populous" is subjective.

Decisions have consequences. Each decision helps some and harms others. This is true for decisions made by anyone in a position of authority, whether they be a government official or in the private sector.

There now are plenty of science-based studies showing the harm of restrictions. There also are plenty of science-based studies showing the good done by restrictions.

Based on what I have read to-date, I believe that masks should be worn indoors until the death rate from COVID drops to a level than is comparable to what we experience every year from influenza. This includes at WDW where people walk in-and-outside all the time.

But it is safe for me to go to the park or beach and not wear a mask.

And schools should be open for learning (with masks and 3 feet of distancing).

This is what I think is the right thing to do.

This does not mean that I am "right".

And this does not mean this is what I thought was "right" 6 months ago.

I recognize that others have different opinions and I'm interested in hearing what they have to say. Specifically, I'm interested in the reasoning behind their opinions. I like to believe I'm open-minded. My opinion changes as I receive new information. My opinion can be swayed by a good argument or new information.

The problem we run into are that people are locked into their positions and refuse to listen to anything that varies from their set views.

The reality is that both sides have been grossly wrong at times when it comes to COVID.

The problem with politics is that it doesn't allow you to admit that your side is wrong.

While I'd agree that I hate masks they do come in handy in situations where normally you'd have to hide the feelings you're having from your facial expressions like when you want to mouth some terrible words. Without a mask you have to keep your mouth closed lol.

oh I agree there...

it also makes everyone “pretty” in the mind’s eye...

what? 🤷🏻‍♂️

But you know as well as I do that you'd live in Florida at this moment far before California. I'm just saying 0.4% of the vote goes the other way in 2018 and we are ALL complaining on here as to why WDW hasn't opened. So yeah, it does depend on who is running your country or State. It is quite obvious it matters a lot. If I am correct, I believe all of the Asian Disneylands are open while only Paris and California are the ones closed. People hate to hear it, but this thing is completely political and has been from the start.

holding up Florida in any scenario as a “good example” is minefield that no one ever gets out of intact.

they’re extremely lucky they didn’t end up with a mass tragedy there. Which is the only way fools “succeed”

July 4th is 10 weeks away. It takes 6 weeks to get fully vaccinated. Any one can now easily get a first shot by next week. If everyone begins the process in the next 4 weeks, July 4th could be mask free with everything opened. But I suspect a lot of Disney patrons are anti-vaxxers and I have no confidence in the American Public that this will happen. This is why we can't have nice things.

nope.

the vaccine numbers are trending towards a flatline. Because “ma freedom” and all.

I will say from talking to many passers by when we were in wdw a few weeks ago that near all were vaccinated. But I think that may have been a more “regional” crowd than other times a year

So did you read what I said?
I certainly seem to have done so.

My point was never about masks. Just that you can find articles and follow the science for any side of the argument.

But you didn't. You posted a link to a "study" designed to spread false information, spread around on conservative "news" sites that you said was "worth looking into". I'm just making sure that no one could be confused by this nonsense.

Hopefully you can catch us up over there and we can reintroduce inter UK travel when you are closer to our case numbers.
Apparently so. Covid passports are in the headlines the past week. Although for our usually slow to do anything country we’re not doing badly. Mainland Europe was the big shock.

Europe is a mess

Are pretty much all cast members vaccinated? I’m thinking that’s the real thing Disney is waiting on to normalize operations even if vaccination rates are flatlining yet open to all who want one. I can’t imagine Disney waiting for people who are antivaxxers change their mind and then Disney opening up fully.
