Hi, I have not been posting on this board, but I have been lurking for a while.. I was looking for a short cruise in Sept/Oct 2013 to celebrate my 50th so this cruise fits in perfectly.

Lisa

Hmmmm...I will turn 50 in July 2013; this gives me something to think about.

Bumpin' us up!

I was browsing one of my favorite online crafty pattern / inspiration spots yesterday and thinkin' of all the schnazzy stuff I'd love to make for my WDWMagic gal-pals for our cruise. I can't wait!

Also, yesterday a newer girl on my favorite online Cabbage Patch club was asking questions about traveling with a doll in-tow. I told her about my WDW adventure when I brought little Ellie Boo with me (see the Jan. '10 trip report in my signature). I should bring her on a cruise. It'd be so much fun for me. My only concern is that I'd weird-out my cruise-mates with it. Then again, it's girls. I mean, who would understand dolly love more than girls?! Whadya think? Should Ellie Boo join us??? At least she won't generate any additional costs!

Now I understand your remark in your other thread about generating some cash with an Etsy store! How neat would it be if your adorable Disney-themed bags funded your Disney cruise?!

Ah. You're sweet to extend the invitation, but I have discovered you are either a cruise person or you are not a cruise person. And I, sadly, am not a cruise person. I mean, my cruise was 100% paid for by my inlaws and I STILL didn't love it. I figure if I didn't love it when it was free, it won't be much more enjoyable when I have to fork over the money. Plus it looks like you are going on a 4 night cruise that I bet will include an 'at sea' day. That last day 'at sea' I about died of impatience. We were going so. slow. I very nearly pulled out an oar and started rowing. Get me off this boat and back on land - please! :D

Luckily, I didn't despise my experience because my husband LOVED it (can I send him to room with you girls? He's a totally awesome guy, I know you'd all get along with him!) and I know we'll go again someday. But can you imagine my poor husband having to put up with me on an Alaskan Cruise? Bless him.

Put me down on the list for the very first WDWmagic girls park trip okay??? I'll be all over that!

Funny!! I think I'm the opposite--my first cruise was our honeymoon, and I often say that I would have had a much better time if I'd gone with anyone but my husband, who is not very social (ok, he's improved over the last 25 years, but back then, not very social at all). Me, I'll talk to anyone. And I hear they have plenty of activities on these cruise ships!

That is true, not everyone loves cruising as much as I do! Gasp!! I love port days, but don't think I have ever been bored on a cruise. I love sea days because it gives you time to enjoy everything on the ship! I didn't like the 3 day cruise! I didn't have nearly enough time to do everything onboard.

If any men jump in, than your hubby can come with us!

Hmmmm...I will turn 50 in July 2013; this gives me something to think about.

Siobhan! I was wondering if you may be interested! We'd love to have you! :)

I think some of us were also talking about going to WDW for a couple days either pre- or post- cruise. Possibility?

I'm looking forward to having an at-sea day on the Dream. They offer so many really awesome activities. Heck, I could spend the day just walking and exploring all the killer Disney details on the ship. It's just soooo big! I totally accept that you don't feel cruising is for you. Buuuuut, if you think experiencing it with a bunch of giddy girls with a whole different perspective might be enough to give it a 2nd try, keep us in mind. K?

Off course! take Ellie Boo! there´s no reason why she should be excluded from the fun, and if you think about it, you´ll have endless options in case you need a babysitter

Babysitter. That's the total beauty in having my dollies for my girls. Both times I was pregnant I wished for girls but it wasn't meant to be. So now I have lots of pretty girls that I can make clothes for, buy pretty dresses, play, etc. that don't cost me near what the "fleshy" girlies would. They don't fuss or cry. They give wonderful, soft hugs when I need one. And when I'm done playing I can just put them away until next time.

Yes! Be thinking! Don't regret not going with us! Or at least trying. I shall do whatever it takes to use my evil Jedi-powers against all of you! LOL!

Oh yes! Gotta get with the sewing. I'm also going to have to rejoin the work force **gasp** in the coming months. Gotta get busy workin'.....

Ugh! My old man got into our cruise waaaaay differently than I expected. He drove me nuts, actually. If we were in our stateroom he was running for the verandah. Then he'd stand out there hollerin': "Kelly! Come see this!!!!" for every. little. stinkin'. thing. The worst was on CC day. I was depserately hoping Brian would sleep in and it'd be too late to go do the CC5k. But when we were pulling into the dock the reverse and thrusters or whatever made the whole ship sorta vibrate like we were all on the spin cycle. Tracey shot straight out of bed, flung open the curtains, and ran out on the verandah. The blast of sunlight woke the kids and there was no talkin' Brian out of the 5k. So poor little ol' me who was up super late had to get up the butt-crack of dawn and go run. I coulda smacked that man. Or flung him over the railing.

I'm soooo looking forward to my first at-sea day! Cannot wait! The 3 day cruise was entirely too short. It was almost like a cruel joke how quickly it ended. Then we spent the next 6 days at WDW sulking, licking our little wounds, wishing we were back on the ship.

See now, that's really all you have to say to anyone to sell this...

I'm swayed by Kelly's Jedi powers; I guess you better send me a quote, Tammy, and put me down for a roomie. It won't hurt to put down a deposit, right? :drevil:

Woo hoo!! I'll send you some info! That is correct, the deposit is fully refundable up until 75 days before we sail! So there's no harm in putting one down now.:)

Actually, if you think you really might do the cruise and can swing the deposit going ahead and reserving your stateroom is a smart thing to do. The rates *usually* don't go down. They go up. You can get your deposit back if you end up not going but you're also locking in the best price you can get for now. If by some chance there's a special or drop in price you can also switch to that. :)

I definitely think it would be fun--I'm not quite so hooked on crusing as all you guys seem to be, but I am absolutely willing to find out "what's all the fuss about" Coupled with that, it would be great to meet everyone I've been interacting with, whose trip reports I've been reading, and whose pictures I've been looking at over the last couple years!!

Y'know what's kind of funny? Last night, I was trying to get to the Disney Vacation Club forum, and because I was using my laptop with the mouse-glide thingy instead of an actual mouse, I wound up in Disney Cruise Line to see this thread totally by accident. Omen? Karma? Who knows, but I'm willing to go with it!! :D

:

We did post cruise in March and I decided that I like pre cruise better, WDW is so much more work then DCL, after relaxing on the ship it is hard to go, go go at the parks.

What is everyone's favorite WDW resort? I think overall I like Aninmal Kingdom Lodge the best, it is just so beautiful, but it is a hard decision. Being able to walk to Epcot from the Beach Club is a big plus, and then being on the monorail is a big plus for the Poly.

My girls who are 9 and 10 have no problems answering that question, they love Pop Centruy. So we stay there when I travel with them and when I go alone or friends we try different resorts.

I prefer WDW before too. Although it does help with the sadness of disembarking if you still have some vacation left!

I'm torn on my favorite resort these days! I think I would be torn between Boardwalk and Animal Kingdom Lodge with a slight edge going to Boardwalk because of its location. But I do love several others like the Contemporary and Yacht Club!

We did 5 days pre-cruise and 6 days post-cruise recently. Looking back, we wish we'd either had more cruise or had all the WDW time altogether on one end or the other. I can definitely see the advantages of parks before a cruise. If I end up with some park time I'll prob'ly elect to go before.

Favorite resort. It's an ever-changing thing. After our recent trip I'd have to go with Yacht Club, hands down. In fact, I could spend a couple days there without stepping foot in a park and be completely happy. We enjoyed the resort so much more than we ever thought we would. :D

My favorite resort tends to be the one I'm staying at!! (currently sitting on my balcony at Boardwalk)

Seriously, though, for a laid-back trip, Old Key West is my favorite. For location and general atmosphere, Boardwalk. Although Contemporary made a pretty strong case for itself when I stayed at Bay Lake Tower last May.

Cool idea Kelly!!! Glad you enjoyed your first cruise, and have become addicted to them. Now I just need to take you offshore fishing in the Gulf, and Tracey will have to trade his bass-boat for a cabin cruiser! :ROFLOL: Love you!

I am jealous, I think this is one of the best times weather wise to be at WDW.

Enjoy your stay.
